"We went there on Saturday for lunch two adults and our 14 month old daughter. We waited for 15min for the waiter to come to our table to take an order. As our daughter was very hungry we specified for the childrens hot dog to come first before our food is cooked and at that point no one notified us that they are 2 people down and there are massive delays with food even though there were only 10 other people in the restaurant so it’s not like they were massively busy. Our drinks took another 10min (two draught pints) and the food took 45min from the time of order and our daughter’s cold hotdog sausage in a dry roll with nothing else it in came last, it probably took them 1min to prepare it. No one brought us any knifes and forks which we had to get ourselves from the counter and overall it was a bit uncomfortable experience as you could see the cook getting angry every time the order came in which made us feel awkward. We didn’t want to make a scene at the restaurant so after we left we made a complaint straight away. We were told because we ate our food they can’t give us any compensation even though we asked to be met half way after paying £50 bill for it and their response was quite rude calling us impertinence etc. they offered free three meal vouchers which we have declined as we don’t want to go back, it was the worse experience we’ve had with any restaurant."

Tiny portions, much smaller than last visit in August, food not great, very disappointed and won't visit again. Gone downhill with food and service.

I adored this restaurant! The atmosphere is very trendy. The staff was incredibly friendly and the food was delicious. The nachos were massive! I also loved the chocolate brownie.

Excellent food and great service. The decor is fab and really sets the scene! Lovely cocktails and atmosphere too. Would really recommend if you fancy the American diner experience!

This is a really fun spot with quirky decor. Went with a family group of 4 and were really impressed. Waiting staff all very attentive, quick to take our order and bring drinks/sauces etc. We were particularly impressed with the hot dogs and the nacho bowl (this was huge and delicious!

Me and my husband went her for my birthday meal. The food was delicious, the whole diner was so clean and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. There was a function on in the large room but this only added to the atmosphere and fun. We had hot dogs and theses were top quality, so tasty and cooked fresh. We had a great time and definitely would recommend a visit to anyone. Will be going back for a repeat visit soon!

An unusual venue which is worth a visit if only for the Americana. Food was alright with good serving sizes but not going to win any awards. Cocktails with special offer were decent. Pricing reasonable and the staff pleasant. Place needs a good clean good coating of dust and toilets pretty grim, strong smells of chip fat or, perhaps it's time for a full refurb and relaunch. The monthly comedy event was decent for a local event, MC did a good job trying to liven up the audience.

It was great to return to Smokey Joes, my son is back from university and wanted to take a trip down memory lane here, enjoying brunch and the amazing arcade games. The food was excellent, with a variety of waffles for the younger ones and a chicken, bacon, and avocado burger as well as a classic hot dog with fries for us adults. We all loved the delicious milkshakes that accompanied our meals. I highly recommend this place - the food and shakes are top-notch, the staff are friendly, and the retro interior and music give off a fantastic 1950's vibe as soon as you walk through the doors. It's like a journey back in time.

I went to the restaurant on Saturday to see the James Maddock concert. I have been a few times before for concerts, but this was my first time trying the food. We ordered the bacon cheeseburger and the barbecued pulled pork burger. They took a bit long to come out, but they were definitely worth the wait. The burgers were juicy and the barbecued pulled pork was amazing! The staff was lovely and the atmosphere was great. My only complaint is that there weren't enough seats available, so we ended up sitting on some uncomfortable high swivel bar seats that were not ideal for my arthritic joints. Overall, it was a fantastic experience and James Maddock was brilliant.

Went here for some and drinks. All the reviews and the promo material on Facebook said amazing food, great food etc. And all I can say is there must be a some sort of tunnel everyone else went down that led them to another restaurant and we ended up in this place. The food we ate didn't taste of anything, i wouldn't say it was bad or good because I couldn't actually taste it to make that decision. If you blindfolded me and told me to eat it I wouldn't be able to decipher what it was I was eating. All i could think was burger king is over the road i wish i was eating that instead of this. We ended up going somewhere else for dessert. Cool theme but that's the only good thing about it. You're...

"The story: Two weeks prior, peeking through the restaurant window, I was intrigued to see the kitchen artizans hard at work creating sushi platters that looked vibrant but also elegant. On the 14th November at lunchtime, I was looking forward to trying Kibou as Japanese cuisine is one of my favourites. It's very hard to see the same level of unique variety that Kibou has compared to the few Japanese restaurants I am local to. We wanted to try an array of items and the mini seasonal menu had just been released in time for our visit as well. The food: The Jo Moriawase and New Style Sashimi were great introductions to the first impressions of the quality and range of the dishes available as they were the assortment dishes. Our server provided us with guidance on what we should try first on the Jo Moriawase in order to prevent ending up with eating soggy nori which we appreciated. The Black Cod Nigiri is nothing I have ever tried before so this was also an interesting experience for our tastebuds. My dad has a tough palate to appease but to my surprise, he was satisfied with the Spider Roll Temaki and Chashu Ramen (he thought the pork broth could have been less strong but nonetheless still enjoyed, not like the artificial flavourings you get in an instant ramen if you know what I mean). The Chirashizushi was great for me as I love my sashimi. I didn't realise the yellow portions were actually tamago/egg roll until I tasted it. Some sort of gastronomical wizardry? My mum really lavished the Yaki Udon textures, with the udon noodles having the right amount of nudge needed to chew and biting into the nice crispy outer layer of the tofu. My only regret is not having enough room to try the desserts. Overall, a unique adventure for the tastebuds! The price: If you are extremely budget conscious, perhaps I would not be able to recommend Kibou to you. For a family of three, we were about £40-50 per person. As of my visit, the service charge is 10%. Don't get me wrong though, I think the service charge is fair and reasonable because our experience with the staff we talked to and came by our table were lovely. The atmosphere: Family-friendly but also evening bar feel. Sakura Cherry Blossom and other Japanese-related art themes run throughout the restaurant. The service: We didn't have to wait very long to be seated or served. The waiting staff were attentive, friendly and helpful. The kitchen staff did an amazing job with the food. Would I come again?: Yes, as a treat! Plus I want to try the dessert next time! :"
