"I have several times noticed the Lion d’Or when walking around the pretty little town of St Geniez d’Olt and thought it looked attractive and a nice place to lunch so this time I tried it. On a very hot day we ate outside the terrace, a nice area immediately outside the large smart but on this occasion empty dining room. It was pleasant, shady and comfortable They had a series of menus from the menu de jour at €16 to a menu gourmand at €36. We had a midpriced one. The description of each dish in the menu was flowery and a little overblown, and when they came they looked very elegant. However the tastes and the textures were not quite up to the standard of the descriptions or the looks. The food wasn’t bad, it just fell a bit short of what the presentation promised. The smoked trout starter didn’t quite work, the trout did not have a lot of flavour (it seldom does) and the pastry was rubbery and tired. My main course fish was overcooked and little dry, but both the veal and the pork potions were delicious and nicely cooked. For pudding we all had a trio of ice creams which were fine, factory-made but good quality and as everything else beautifully presented. The service was prompt and efficient and the wine list looked sound although we didn’t try it. Overall a pleasant lunch on a hot day but not quite up to the promise of the menu. The menu de jour may well have been a better bet."

"Experience quite disappointing the kitchen is no interest. On the other hand, the service... a waiter who plays it warm but some that a guest asks to add an egg to his cake, the answer “ah no, it’s not possible, they already have plenty of cooking orders, we’re not going to add them complications”... Hein? Then, at the time of the addition, the same server invoices ice more expensive: “there is a price error in the card”. They were able to correct the error or to warn at the time of the order that the price is different. But no, he started to explain why the price he wants to charge me is the right one. But I don’t care about it, I want to pay the advertised price in your card! This is the rule! Fortunately there is a lady, potentially the boss, to catch up with this boy’s boulets... I paid the price of the card but this experience left me the bitter taste."

"Après nous avoir servis des betteraves rouges coupées grossièrement et baignant dans une sauce industrielle. Nous avons eu la désagréable surprise de trouver une dent (de porc?) dans la terrine. Les spaghettis nature et le dessert surgelé. À la sortie nous faisons part en aparté à la patronne de notre déception. Celle ci au lieu d'en prendre note, prend à partie les clients sous entendant que nous cherchions querelle... il ne manquait plus après avoir payé sans broncher qu'on nous interpelle dans la rue en nous accusant d'avoir inventé cette histoire de dent, pourtant laissée bien en vue dans l'assiette ! Expérience culinaire vraiment désagréable : dommage le soleil, le cadre tout aurait pu y être ! Conclusion : piège à touristes = À éviter"

"C'est la 2ème fois que nous séjournions à Saint Geniez d'Olt et nous souhaitions découvrir un nouveau restaurant. La table d'Olt nous était conseillée par notre hôte. Nous avons fait le bon choix. Ils ne servaient qu'en terrasse, cadre correct. Plusieurs menus proposés, selon le nombre de plats que l'on prend, de 26€ pour un plat unique à 42€ pour entrée, plat, dessert et accord mets-vin. J'ai pris le menu à 42€. 4 entrées, 6 plats et 4 desserts parmi lesquels choisir. Peu donc produits frais mais finalement choix difficile car tout cela semblait bien bon. Et ce le fut, de bons produits, de belles créations, un service agréable, une attente bien ajustée entre les plats, un excellent rapport qualité-prix. Nous nous sommes régalés, un peu trop me concernant car j'ai dû finir une partie des plats de ma compagne. En effet, nous sommes en Aveyron et il vaut mieux ne pas avoir les yeux plus grands que le ventre, les plats sont très copieux. Je conseille l'accord mets-vin pour seulement 5€. Un tout petit bémol concerne le vin rouge que j'aurai servi plus frais et non à température ambiante sachant qu'il a fait 30° dans la journée... Nous recommandons vraiment cette adresse."
