The said, keep in mind: This is not a fast food place. Every dish has its own, unique taste, a quite exquisite experience of spices and fresh ingredients. Thus said, watch out for the "hotness scale", a single free pepper papadam they serve with the menu: It indicates which of the four main "sub-divisions of hotness" to choose. Beware: Unless you are really, really used to very hot food, do yourself a favor and don´t go any further than "Germanisch". We were served by a very friendly, young waitress, who also explained the dishes to us, so it was a very pleasant experience."

the foods would be delivered in time as chosen). all very tasty. we had three different super delicious dishes. the only thing was that the broth was sharp. finally grated gluten-free vegetables.

Food is good and fresh. Service is quite quick. This restaurant is one of place to be if you are authentic Indian food enthusiast. But I would say have a good luck with waiters and don't use any Indian way of calling them :)

I was at Sur Mandir a few times.I find the food to be tastier and rich compared to other restaurants in Erlangen.I have always enjoyed myself here.I do find find the spicy scale to be a bit off.I am Indian and order a Germanisch plus most of the time.

We went to Sur Mandir the first time over 15 years ago. We go back to him every time we are in town. The food is excellent and we enjoy the talk with the owner. The food is not cheap, if you want something cheap I recommend looking somewhere, but for us it is worth the taste of the food.

I've been here a number of times and everytime I leave I always tell myself i'll never go back. Now I know I wont, the owner is one of the rudest restaurant owners I have met, the food is expensive, and its pot luck on the heat levels depending on who's cooking or the night you go. Not a great dining experience.

We went with mixed expectations based on previews ta reviews. The food was delicious, especially the butter chicken. The naan bread was fresh out the oven, fluffy and buttery, very tasty. Portions were generous and service was prompt and attentive. I also recommend the mango lassis. 2 mains (one meat one veggie dish), 2 lassis and 2 waters were about 43 eur, not cheap, but probably comparable to other Indian restaurants. The restaurant was well-frequented for a weekday, which speaks for itself.
