we are here for many doos, receptions birthdays etc. eating has always been very good. the wine is also very good and the prices are very good. the menu also offers a wide, eclectic and varied selection to suit people with different preferences etc. therefore it offers many flavors.

large menu with many interesting options. we had lobster stars, crab sandwiches and black pudding to begin with so that the chicken cake and bark bunny we had ordered for the first could not be finished! service was very good with 2 people who worked hard to make sure we had a great lunch.

The food was very good and the atmosphere and service also good for casual dining. We found the menu a little difficult to understand. The waitress said all the lights were small when I asked if they were suitable as starters. But the haggis toastie definitely was way too big to eat before fish and chips (very very good though). Portions are a good size so choose your 'starters ' accordingly. Great cider (Bee Sting)

Was initially tough to find, but well worth it. Interesting local beer selections. I settled on the the most hoppy IPA they had and was not disappointed. Wylam Jakehead IPA. Also tried fish and chips. HUGE piece of fresh fish, with a nice (albeit little greasy) batter. Served with an obviously homemade tartar sauce, fries and purée peas (actually) very tasty. If I ever come back to Newcastle, I would definitely come back to this place to try some of the other interesting menu items, and more beer!!

Four of us decided to have a drink at this restaurant. The beer was very good. You order your drink at the bar, pay for it, and then it is served to you. The bartender was not very friendly, and since there were few customers there, I expected him to be more welcoming. There is no one to ask if you would like another drink, so you have to go back to the unfriendly bartender. I tried a stout, which was excellent, and one of my friends ordered ginger wine, which I tasted and found to be delicious. The bar area was quite large and open, and the downstairs restrooms were nice, charming, and decorated in an ornate manner.

we visited a second time as our first was fabulous. Unfortunately, this time it wasn't so good to eat. my partner ordered the flat iron steak with chips, the steak was ok, but the chips were made bog standard, while before were nice chunky three times boiled hand cut. my friend and I had the lammkur that was so salty and the rice was very dry. there was a pretty gap between the first and the most important courses, so I asked if there was a problem to say that they were only busy. we were offered half an prise beer, which I thought was acceptable. it is a shame when we recommended it to our friends with whom we went. the pub itself is beautiful with large outside space and a terrace. Apparently the Newcastle Arms, the previous name of this pub (which is still prominently carved in stone on its facade you 're not in the wrong place) was a bit of a rough lager focused venue which serves to underline what a great offering they now have. Lots of cask lines I think they had three stouts on including an espresso martini one which was really excellent. Also I tried a 'chai der ' a spicy cider that was a real treat so cool to try something totally different that I 've never seen anywhere else. Music was loud on a Friday night but didn 't rule out conversation and we also got a space to seat (there is an upstairs too). It 's great if you want somewhere with a little more energy....
