"I have read some of the reviews here and honestly said they shocked me like every time we were in the duck, there was never any problem. at least once a month we go there for a Sunday carvery and on boxday we go for. the cauvery as well. every time they do not fail, they have always managed to satisfy us, beef is beautiful and delicate, sweet are full of taste and there is a lot of sauces for those who are not like gravy! also the portions are good and so are the prices. my a child has always a greater meal, as she was like a lot on the teller and this was never a problem with the woman who served as a question that she could not be happier! beside the meal itself, puddings never fail to impress. for example there was a biscuit cheesecake and the menu and everything I could say was wow, I was quite literally lost for cake, how good it tasted. the employees are always welcoming and speaking, they always make sure we have everything."

Went for the first time today and the landlady was unbelievably rude. We were spoken to horrifically, we all actually felt very uncomfortable at the pub after having an encounter with her. Such a shame when the other members of staff were lovely. Won’t be...going back again

All I’m going to say is absolutely disgusting. The staff I’m just lost for words. The actual interior of pub well all I can say is I went into better cafés with my mother back in the The carvery well what can I say...never again must be the worst place I’ve ever been to. Beware.

Would of been a nice and very reasonably priced meal unfortunately we were made to feel very un welcomed by the lady serving the carvery- I asked if there was any gamon left and was told I should of came earlier if I wanted that…...it says you serve until so if you don’t want me there change your times?

We had a lovely experience at the restaurant for Mother's Day. The menu had a great variety of starters, and we all enjoyed trying each other's dishes. The pate and mushrooms were particularly delicious. The carvery meats (beef, lamb, turkey, and gammon) were all tasty and the portions were generous. The selection of potatoes and vegetables was also excellent. Even though I don't usually have dessert, the Sticky Toffee Pudding with Ice Cream was a standout. Despite the busy restaurant, the staff managed to seat and serve us efficiently. We had a great family meal and thoroughly enjoyed our time together.

I was sad to read some of the reviews on this page. We have been going to The Duck for years ….and we live the other side of Shrewsbury. If you want cosy .intimate surroundings then don’t go here but if you want one of the...best Sunday carveries with fresh vegetables (only the peas are frozen) and a choice of meats then try it! Plenty of choice for vegans and vegetarians. The sweets are home made and are delicious. We only go for Sunday lunch and book beforehand. As I say we don’t go to look at the surrounds and you make your own company pleasant. The waiters/waitresses are polite and attentive . The owner has been criticised for being rude ……it’s just her way and you can make her smile.Don’...

After reading some mixed reviews, I decided to try Duck in Ascott for myself. I have been a regular customer for several years now and have never been disappointed. The food is beautifully presented, homemade, and always delicious. The service is top-notch, with friendly staff ensuring that everything is just right. I stumbled upon this gem a few years ago and have been returning ever since, even though I am quite picky about where I dine. Trust me, the food at Duck in Ascott is a pleasant surprise compared to other local restaurants. And don't even get me started on the desserts - they are out of this world! (See attached photo). I highly recommend giving this place a try and forming your o...

After reading some mixed reviews, I decided to book a meal at this restaurant to form my own opinion. The food was enjoyable, hot, and plentiful. The goat cheese and pepper sourdough starter was a highlight, as were the main courses which included a chicken burger, Madeira chicken, Steak and Ale Pie, and a winter warmer (featuring Faggot sausage). Unfortunately, I couldn't find room for dessert! The service was also good, and the atmosphere was calm. It made me realize the importance of supporting local pubs like this one, as they are at risk of closure. I encourage others to try it for themselves instead of solely relying on reviews. Let's support our local pubs, as they need us now more th...

"we wanted to visit the midlands and family for the first time since Christmas and in the frame of the visit I decided that we would take my mother for a nice Sunday dinner. she lives in telford and I am not familiar with the contrary so that I am on tripadvisor for ideas. I mean, I was looking for restaurants in Telford and sorted by rating; clays of broseley was the best from the list and that was what I booked. it is about a minute drive from my mother place through a beautiful shropshire landscape. we arrived in broseley a little early and found a parking space right in front of the restaurant. we were invited to take place on the terrace while they opened and had some drinks. I had a fantastic homemade limonade with glittering water, my mother had a Rhabarb juice that was so delicious that we were strolling home with us and my wife had a very nice pot tee. we had booked a table that had been placed in the restaurant for us, but we were offered the table on the terrace for lunch, which we liked to accept as the weather was perfect. we all ordered from the midday card, which for two courses and for three courses was a fantastic bargain. I ordered salmon and hake meatcakes with delicate brokolli, spargas and a white wine sauce and my wife and mother both ordered the beef Sirloin roast dinner. I was so impressed with eating. honestly, this restaurant lives up to all reviews. the ingredients were fresh and tasty and not refined as they get some places. to dessert my mother and I both had the rhubarb and custard' and playful plate that rhubarb compott, gelee, vanilla cream and small mygues combined crazy. the perfect end for every afternoon. during the meal were the employees (I'm sorry to say that I didn't get their names) attentive and friendly. our month old sohn, henry, has a stinking cold and has teethed, so was not on his best behavior, but the staff was fantastic with him. They even went so far that they broke out one of their dogs, a beautiful, huge dog called barney, for henry's entertainment. to cover everything, and this is great for parents of small children, they had a full baby change unit, complete with diapers, wipes and unhappy bags! I can honestly say I've never seen this before. all in all, for three nets, two desserts and drinks, the bill came less than unnecessary to say, I intend to visit again when we are close. I really can't wait."
