The French House - Crystal Palace

Rather disappointing....a rather poor attempt at a bouillabaisse kind of summed it up, limp and uninspired

The food is fantastic, the atmosphere is lovely, and the service is very friendly - I couldn't recommend it more. Plus, the fondue is a must-try!

I ordered the raclette and you really can't go wrong with it. There was a generous serving of meat and cheese, along with a side of crisp, fresh salad.

So I've been here before to use the downstairs bar but never eaten here so what better time than New Year's Eve to try it!! Managed to get a late table

Very good traditional French cooking. Service very friendly although a bit hit and miss with timing of food and getting the bill/payment (a bit like my experiences in France! . However would definitely recommend.

We all really enjoyed the food it was great sharing a giant pot of fondue between 4 people! Good vegetarian options too thanks to the tarts and the baked camembert! Very nice atmosphere and attentive staff who went out of their way to make sure everything was just right! I would highly recommend!

Have been here a few times before and enjoyed the food and ambience. Unfortunately food was not great this time...overcooked duck and another main of sausage casoulet were not inspiring. Two out of four mains on menu were not available- And this at 6.30 in the evening on Nov 5th (a busy night generally in Crystal palace . We had originally booked for 9pm and were told they would probably have even less available by then....must try harder!

We had been here previously a year ago) and really enjoyed it, so was looking forward to a revisit. But so disappointed with the quality of food which arrived at different times so some of our table had finished their meal before a friend and I received ours. The quality of the food wasn 't consistent either sausage and mash v good but over cooked dry cod, chicken/rice 'over garlicky '. There was live music on the Friday night we were there which we didn 't know abt prior to our visit. When you have 5 people who haven 't seen each other for ages having to shout over the music it made for a v stressful evening. Sorry French House we won 't be visiting again. If you want the real taste of what I call Alpine food, this is the place to go. My wife and I are thrilled skiers and came here to celebrate our wedding anniversary and as we missed on a trip this year, we thought we would fill our cheeseries with a fondue. The food was exceptional, a true taste of the Alps. The staff was very friendly and even took a certain menu change. The sides that came with the melted cheesepot were excellent round. You couldn't harm the food. Just down, and it's probably more my hanging up than anything, the atmosphere felt slightly wrong. More café than restaurant.
