excellent eating in a beautiful pub in the center of york. Despite this a busy Saturday afternoon the table was ready for us and the eating and service were great. would certainly recommend.

second visit in this big pub. the staff are brilliant, friendly and great. but I have to get a bone with them. they refuse to serve saul. or give him a good meal. great pub, nice staff and eating was top notch. highly recommended.

Lovely little pub with cosy atmosphere, nice drinks and not bad food. Little beer garden for warmer weather. Full of character and ghost stories. We were actually introduced to it via a ghost bust tour and thought we'll go and see the ghost for our selves

This large pub has been around for many years, but I must say that their new menu and kitchen aren't as good as they used to be. It now feels more like a chain pub with the new food offerings. The quality and portion sizes are nowhere near the home-cooked meals they used to serve, which is disappointing. While it’s a spacious venue, there are better options for those seeking good food.

favorite pub! we visited because my partner had heard that it was the most coveted pub in york, so we thought we were a afternoon drink. something about the place pulled me in and I was wondering myself to go back later in the evening. the personal is all beautiful. the drinks are plentiful and decent. live music is brilliant and the atmosphere is incomparable. very recommended and comes back when we visit york. I loved it!

we have booked rooms for a few days. what a great place! beautiful rooms in a historic pub. the breakfast is included and the full English is huge and very tasty. the staff is wonderful and very helpful. Live music most nights and a large beer garden. the golden fleece is located in the heart of york and is too foot to see everything a person wants to visit. I cannot recommend the golden fleece enough. we will definitely book again!

The staff were friendly and allowed us to arrive a bit earlier than our reservation, which we appreciated. The atmosphere was pleasant and cozy, especially considering the ghost stories associated with the place. On the downside, the menu felt a bit limited and the prices seemed a little high. I ordered the hunter's chicken, which was slightly rubbery but still tasty. One drawback was that we couldn't put our drinks on a tab, which was inconvenient.

The staff were incredibly friendly! The bar is so cool, very old pub, the flooring all wonky. They were happy to talk about the ghosts even though they must get asked about them all the time. Honestly a big glass slid across a table, not on an angle, and smashed on the floor in front of us all when nobody was nearby it. I love debunking these things and there wasn't an explanation for it so thatwas very cool! The food was delicious, just what I needed. Honestly an all round lovely pub with lovely staff!

The staff have all been wonderfully friendly, contributing to the welcoming, down-to-earth feel of the place. Everywhere you look, you can sense the ghostly history of The Fleece, which is woven into the very fabric of the establishment. It's a delightful mix of spooky tales and atmospheric decor, delivered with a playful spirit by the owners and team. I’ve had a few unusual experiences during my stay so far, but I’ll leave those for you to discover on your own. You really have to experience it for yourself!
