"From the off, everything was bang on point. The warmth of the welcome, being taken straight to our table and offered water and an aperitif promptly. We, a party of three, opted for the set lunch, which offers very good value for money. £29.50 for two courses, £35 for three, with two options for each course. Two of us opted for the baked Roscoff onion with pearl barley. Simple ingredients but beautifully cooked with a truly sublime brown onion sauce of such intensity, it lifted an already lovely plate of food to another level. The other person had the ponzu cured mackerel which she pronounced lovely but she had serious food envy over the onion dish. The main courses were grilled hake, which again was sauced to perfection and a grilled bavette with a vegetable medley and a pea? puree and a meat jus. We added a small dish of dauphinois at £5 which complimented everything very well. We drank a good and reasonably priced Rioja Blanco. No room for dessert sadly. This restaurant is not cheap but there is a difference between cost and value and The Elephant offers very good value with the set lunch; it allows you to sample really very good cooking at a price that will not break the bank. The normal a la carte menu is around double the price but on looking at what this offered, I would say that it again offers good value for money, being a step up in choice with more expensive ingredients. This is a serious restaurant. Go there. You will not be disappointed."

"We booked on one of the burger themed nights and we certainly were not disappointed. Two of us had a beef burger with pulled pork which went down very nicely. I had the Cajun chicken burger which was the best chicken burger I have actually ever had! All of the ingredients were of the highest quality and the service was really quick. The drinks list is vast and there is definitely something for everyone. We all had waffles for dessert which were amazing. The owners of this cafe are great and they go out of their way to ensure that you have everything you need and that everyone has a great time. Cannot sing it’s praises enough! We will definitely be returning and will always book because it was full when we went. There were lots of people walking by and popping their heads in only to be disappointed that they couldn’t get a table. Well done to the owners for this little hidden gem."

"On a cold and windy April mornimg we were welcomed by both the warmth of the surroundings and the friendliness of the hosts. The storm overnight had left us with a healthy hunger and we relaxed with hot toasted crumpets with butter, accompanied by the continental meats selection. A couple of hot drinks make the perfect repast. Many thanks to the Lighthouse's accomodating and very friendly owners. Oh. And not forfegging the loving attention for our fluffy pooch who was given a comfy basket, a bowl of fresh water and a bit of chicken breast to boot. Many thanks!"

"in cockington there is a beautiful old tea shop called “Weaver’s Cottage”. the building has been renovated in recent years, but it still looks. in this beautiful house there are many bedrooms, a new kitchen, but an old restaurant room. I think there is his charm for the house and the people are interested in this soothing place. They can come with family or friends and share a high tea on a pie level. it is a traditional English meal: sandwiches of ham or cheese or both, with scratches and a scorpion with dipped and jam. also they can take a cup of tea with milk. this place is very peaceful and I recommend it to everyone. emilie, frankreich"

"Gorgeous tasty food, creative menu, mixture of traditional Spanish and world flavours, friendly staff, nice ambience. We booked in on strength of trip advisor reviews and so glad we did. Food was delicious. I like to order food that’s different or better than I could cook myself and this delivered. We had Asian beef skewers which were generous portions and super tender, slow cooked easily enough to share. Also pork belly bites with cracking crumble excellent and a big portion too. Brixham scallops and Spanish black pud was my favourite dish, smaller, but left me wanting more! Smoky Spanish corn cobs were our healthy option never had corn like it before and very tasty! Rather greedily we ordered a side of patatas bravas as an old favourite and the homemade aioli was just the best ever!! Probably should have had 1 less meat dish for 2 to share but it was all just so good. The egg box surprise was a lovely dessert experience we shared it as a mouthful of a sweet tasty dish to finish and I wouldn’t be able to make the egg shells myself. We had just driven 200 miles down to Torquay for the weekend but SWT is that good, I would drive that far again just for dinner here!"
