"Great Christmas dinner, turkey and especially ham were beautiful and of very good quality. The stewed beef (daube) was class also. We had salted chilli chicken and garlic mushrooms to start which were lovely. The thatch is very homely inside and has a nice atmosphere. The reason I’d give it 4 and not a 5 is the cocktails were just OK (espresso martini and bramble) and the service wasn’t great at all. Don’t get me wrong lots of young people walking around and asking you if you need anything, but I think it might be better if they assigned your waiter/waitress to your table for the duration of the meal. We ordered a glass of wine each after our dinner and it didn’t come for almost 30 mins. We were then approached and asked if we wanted anything else, so we ordered an Irish coffee and calypso coffee. Next think all 4 drinks arrived at the same time, wine and coffee. It seems like the staff have no idea of what’s going on at various tables, asking if you want a drink after you’ve just ordered one, or asking if you want to order dinner when it has been ordered etc. I don’t think they’re the friendliest staff either but they are quite young. Food was great but service and drinks left wanting."

Excellent local food and drinks in a truly authentic, but updated and bright, clean Irish pub. Very friendly service too.

The wife was working, so I decided to go out with the children for something to eat. I had The Thatch Sandwich . Biggest sandwich I ever saw. Delicious too. Loads of sides. 4 clean plates were left for the waitresses. Very enjoyable.
