"Being in Strasbourg, my colleagues wanted to take me to an Indian for my opinion. This is what they thought was the best in the area and I would agree with them. Not far from the tram station minutes walk) and just behind Alexandros...this is hidden in an alley. First impressions were good with the restaurant clean and decorated well. The food as is expected has been modified to suit the region which means you will come across the unusual experience of cheese being present in nearly every dish e.g Choley (Chickpeas) with paneer. It was not to my suiting but my colleagues liked it so I suppose I am not the target audience. The food was fresh and the taste was as you would expect. They offer good Desi (Indian) tea so I would recommend you try it if you have the chance. While it cannot be compared to the restaurants in the UK where there is a larger sub-continental population and therefore more traditional taste this is not by any means a bad place as long as you don't raise your expectations too high. It's a good family run restaurant with good service and a large variety of food. Run by a Punjabi family who knows what they are cooking, this is a good place to try if you would like to sample Indian food and are in the Alsace area. P.S: I would recommend checking with the manager if the food is Halal before dining. If you are not satisfied with the response the vegetarian section is still tasty and has a decent variety"

unspectacular. friendly. you can feel the family management of the restaurant. highly recommended: chicken cheese and chicken mango. view from the parking lot towards the kitchen does not seem inviting.

Really surprised by the wonderful and fast service.Beautiful location, which is not directly in the city min walk), that's why it is really calm and relaxing.Perfect for long stays. Also the food was delicious for a really good price. There is also the possibility...to sit outside on the terrace

Last I reviewed this restaurant, it was in Three years later back in Kehl we dropped by to see if the restaurant was still open. Yes, it was! So we ended up ordering a chicken curry take-out for old times take. Although we had...ordered one serving, it was plenty for two people. It came with a small salad and a papadum. The one thing I like about this restaurant is the size of the tables! I know this might sound a bit strange but in many Indian restaurants the tables are just too small and you dont have enough room for everything once the dishes are...served.. well not so in the Safron Elephant! loads of room! The food I find is of good quality, tasty, not overly adapted for the European palate and the portions are just the right size. The atmosphere is calm and the staff are very very pleasant

the restaurant has actually closed on Mondays; we are new in kehl, got the tipp there to eat well Indian and stood - Mondays - in front of closed door. but the chefin came, opened us - it was the 1st mai - and said that their children would have accepted a reservation anyway, so we are also welcome. the menu is Nordic-traditional, offers a great, tasty variety also to be oriented vegetarian and also to season or preparation. eating in the north - so the chefin told us - is not as sharp as in the south. our dishes were pleasantly spicy; one tasted a certain complexity of the mixes and it was really not too sharp. to the conclusion there were very tasty spices from a vessel to support digestio...
