"Looking for a quick pint and food on a drive through Suffolk and this pub was local, with good reviews The barman, and presumable owner was friendly enough, and the choice of drinks was all good. Inside is typically quaint, with a large woodburner, exposed beams, brickwork etc. Once we were stood at the bar, a young lad came down from upstairs and gave us the finger before finding what I can presume was his father, the owner. We were served drinks by the owner, and the young daughter took over payment on the card machine, prices were good for the drinks we ordered. Tap on the top to pay and off she goes, no thanks or acknowledgement. The we sat down in front of the unlit woodburner, and then listened to someone effing and blinding upstairs at the son. Needless to say we drank up and left, cracking atmosphere. Im sure it's just an off day and this pub is lovely most days but just not today. Made us smile though, certainly a different ambience than we expected."

Really enjoyed our visit, staff were very helpful. Lovely food, great portions sizes. Will be back again. Fish and chips were amazing and happy hubby had The Fox burger which he loved. Had some room left for dessert, great choice of yummy desserts

Table booked about 6 weeks ago for 6 people. Arrived at allotted time. Went into the fox for the landlord to tell us the chef has walked out . The landlord had our phone number and didn 't even have the decency to let us know. He didn 't even seem bothered. Would never go back

We booked for an evening meal for a family of 6, 2 months ago. Arrived this evening looking forward to an evening meal with our family of six.. we received no warm welcome and was told they are not doing food this evening. They had our phone number so why did not phone us to let us know. Don’t think this pub will survive much longer with there lack for customer service. We will not be back

Superb pub serving great food, and great beer. The born and bred Suffolk lady behind the bar was so friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Plenty of dogs in the bar which made it slightly noisy but very homely. Both meals my wife and I had, fish and chips and the cheeseburger were very good. 2 hours flew by and would have stayed albeit I was driving back to Kent the next day. Thank you, ladies and Schweppes, the spring behind the bar : Visualizza piatti

It should be noted that the Fox is now under new management and a new chef and menu as of February 2024. So, disregard older reviews. We have been in twice since the new chef started. The food is the best it has been for a couple of years. Between us, we have had the sea bass, burger and linguine. All the dishes we would have again (already have with the sea bass). Going in again this week. Pictures of the food are on the facebook page but again, look at Feb 24 onwards.

Really impressed with the Fox. They’re under new management and with that a new chef so we gave it a go. We had an outstanding Sunday roast here the food was amazing every single thing on the generous plate was cooked perfectly. The crackling with my roast pork was probably the best I’ve ever eaten. Service was good and environment is lovely. My husband loved his real ale which he said was also excellent quality. A really great village pub, good value and worth the drive to get to.

Disappointing visit. A group of us booked up for a great together over dinks a meal. The Pub had only one beer in stock (a nice Caramel Stout), but little else. Surroundings are quite pleasant but the meal was also disappointing in that our Chilli 's looked rather unappetising although tasted OK, possibly left overs? And another said her lasagne was awful There 's only so much Caramel stout you can take so we ended up decamping to the King 's Head in Beccles where a somewhat better experience was had. Coming back from a long walk we decided to nip into The Fox hoping to grab a quick pint and abit of food, literally walking through the door we over hear “ they better not be here for food or I’ll be p*ssed off” hearing that we thought maybe they’re just having a particularly busy night and I understand that hospitality can be stressful !, I notified the bar staff of what I heard and reassured them we wouldn’t order food, I was told “you can have food but we’ve got no steak or burgers, and sorry you heard that but we’ve had a table of 8 come in” imagine ! The cheek of 8 people turning up…

I would have given this place a rating in the negatives but giving 1 as needed to write a review. The food is absolutely awful. My husband ordered one of the loaded dogs and I wish we had taken a video of how it was … inedible slop. I ordered a lamb dish which again was inedible the flavour was sweet and mostly just tasted of cinnamon taking over the entire dish When the plates were taken it was evident that we had barely touched our food but there were no questions from the wait staff. I could tell from their expression that they had picked up on it. My drink which was a large Malbec tasted astringent and stale Disappointing beyond belief. I’d always thought this place was one to visit as w...

"Where do I even begin? The service from the woman behind the bar was shocking. When I inquired about dairy-free options for my son, I was told that nothing could be modified and that they don't cater to allergies at all! I pointed out the menu's claim that they could accommodate such needs, but my concerns were met with an eye roll. I then tried to order him some chips, but was told they were fried in the same oil as dairy and meat products, and since we are vegetarian, that wouldn't work. I asked about the vegan dishes, only to learn that they are also prepared alongside meat products, so there's no guarantee they would actually be vegan. At this point, my daughters had already become excited about eating out and the play area, so I reluctantly decided to go along with it and ordered three sandwiches on granary bread and a child's fish and chips. My son had a packet of crisps. When the sandwiches arrived, they were absolutely terrible. The cheese and onion sandwich consisted of two slices of cheap store-bought bread, some pre-grated cheese, and a few onion slices—without even a hint of butter! It certainly wasn’t inexpensive; we paid £45 for four soft drinks, three sandwiches, and a child's meal. As for the play area, it was concerning—there were sharp screws poking through the wood chips, loose sharp fixtures on top of the slide, and a large exposed electric cable under the swings! We decided to leave swiftly; it was such a disappointing way to end our holiday, when it should have been a lovely final meal before heading home. I was appalled by their attitude towards me—I felt like an inconvenience. The food was awful, and I genuinely recommend avoiding this place if you are vegan or have allergies; even if a dish is labeled vegan, they certainly don’t take the necessary precautions to keep it separate from meat products. It’s truly unfortunate, as the location by the river is beautiful, and we were all so excited to be there, but we left feeling very disappointed. We definitely won't be returning."
