"We found this plays when walking around Bregenz during a few holidays. We already ate on the German side of the Lake of Constance but came to Bregenz for some desert. Obviously we went for the Apfel Strudel a must have when in Austria....The pastry was fluffy and light and the filling was perfect, as I would have expected it! The vanilla sauce tasted home made and was warm and a delight! The service is very friendly and the prices are more than fair. Great experience!"

Extrem gute Bedienung, alle Mitarbeiter sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Lässt keine Wünsche offen und bietet leckere Frühstückoptionen an. Preis und Leistung top und die Desserts sind sehr lecker!

Sehr schönes einladendes Café besonders zum Draußen sitzen. Wegen des feinen Kuchens und des guten Cappuccino würden wir wieder kommen. Die Bedienung wirkte jedoch etwas gestresst. Wir hatten Mühe bezahlen zu dürfen.

Wir waren zu dritt dort und wir wurden so nett bedient.Die Kellnerin erzählte uns begeistert mit welch einer Liebe der Espresso im Kaffeehaus gemacht wird .Und wirklich der Espresso ist Spitze und zu guter letzt bekamen wir je eine Praline gratis.Herzlich danke für diese nette Begebenheit. Das Theater Café ist mittlerweile eine feste Größe in der Gastronomie in Bregenz. Kaffee und Kuchen sind der Grund um dieses Café zu Besuchen. Die Familie Troy führt dieses Café schon seit mehreren Generationen. Das Angebot ist sehr umfangreich die Preise für Bregenz entsprechend. Schöner Gastgarten direkt am Platz.

we took on a Saturday afternoon in the city, perfect time for cake and coffee. secured a place outside and asked the opponent if he could recommend a cake (there were so many good choices). he said the poppy cakes (mohnkuchen, because many say we have the best outstanding, the best I ever had (his for 30 years in Germany). the coffee was also great (strong, tasteful). one in our party had an ice dish, was also super highly recommended.

"Best Atespar: We were the group of 2 sitting on a table for 4 (actually 6) well we waited for another 4 people coming... and you didn't even ask if you can sit with us! And btw didn't want to move the table a few cm... They wanted to put this table 4 meters into the room to stay free for pedestrians. PETRUS is the BEST PLACE in Bregenz to have a wonderful time with just one drink or/and delicious food and very nice and helpful service! Always remember: Nice and friendly to act helps to treat a lot, the same way!"

"Another entry into the list of Things that are Awesome about Austria, in a small town (a suburb of Bregenz, essentially that is part of the eastern Bodensee resort scene. We showed up without a reservation, and were seated in the pleasant garden, the tables far apart to ensure privacy in conversation and discreet movement by the staff, always a good sign in a better restaurant. We were offered a refreshing shot of watermelon juice at the start good, although more usual between dishes in a longer menu. We started with seafood: a superb combination of tuna, greens, and veal (unexpectedly good, and the preparation of the tuna put to shame many establishments supposedly specialising in seafood ; and an octopus based dish, which did not enthral Mr A, who objected to the combination with mussels. (Is this a central European thing? The closer you go to the Mediterranean, the simpler the serving of octopus: it has a delicate flavour, and does not require much done to it. If it had been served as in the other starter, it would be better, he said. For our mains we went for rib eye steaks with chimi churry (sic which we both found excellent: cooked to a perfect medium rare, with just the right amount of bite in the centre too often restaurants do a medium rare with the core of the meat nearly raw, which misses the point: a good medium rare locks the flavour in; if you slice it and too much seeps out, it's not done properly. Mr A declared the accompanying skin on potatoes were very good. I should have asked why the beef was imported from the US; Austria has amazing local beef (the Vorarlberg pastures are just round the corner! . We finished off with a delicate combination of chocolat,e pistachio, and cherries (for myself and an caloric explosion of ice cream and hot chocolate for Mr A. The Merlot recommended was just right for the meat, the espresso was decent, and the service was excellent. The prices are on the expensive side: our three course meal with only two glasses of wine and a soft drink cost as much as I'd expect the same meal with a whole bottle of good wine to cost. But, hey: you get what you pay for, and this was worth it. We'd go again, happily."
