"Chose the Heifer based on a recommendation from a friend living locally whilst we were visiting. Recommendation was based on the food, but pleased to find that they also do rooms with breakfast. Staff were expecting our arrival, room was clean and well presented. The roof is a little low but it's what you get in older properties. Dinner was excellent friends had a sharing platter (baked Camembert, olives, hummus, charcuterie) and were delighted we tried the burgers and they were really good. Desserts were lovely. Nicely kept beer (Black Sheep) and a choice of wine. Accommodation was comfortable (though no facecloths provided no hairdryer) a decent nights sleep as the locale quietened down. Breakfast was prompt and well presented overall a good experience and we'd happily stay again"

Lovely Valentine's treat with a stay in this delightful inn. We received a very warm welcome, had a cosy room with a big comfy bed and a decent shower. The room was nice and quiet with no disturbance from the pub. Food and service was excellent with delicious steak and venison and a good bottle of Tuscan red. Roaring fire to warm you up. Definitely recommend.

Just want to say thankyou for a lovely lunch. The food was fantastic and very reasonably priced. The service was excellent and we loved our table next to the open fire, its was so cozy. We will definitely back and I would highly recommend The Wellington Heifer. I had the gravadlax to start and it was absolutely delicious. The slow cooked beef for mains with hosre raddish mash was very tasty, and the sticky toffee pudding sublime.

First impression this place is comfortable and cosy with lovely fires to warm up the rooms. Much larger inside than expected. We ate from the set menu and god was it good! The best meal we have eaten for a long time, The Daube of beef was outstanding, no need for a knife the meat was so tender and succulent and the mash was beautiful. We wish we had room for dessert and we will certainly be back to try Sunday lunch. Thank you to the chef and the gent who waited on us. This place is fine dining and deserves any accolades it gets. See you soon!

Stayed for dinner, bed and breakfast. Host Rob greeted us and showed us to our lovely ensuite room. Spacious, comfy and clean. We had a lovely meal in a cosy atmosphere. Rob and a waitress served us. Set menu 2 courses for £20 or A la carte. Food delicious, service excellent, can't fault it. Lovely glasses of wine complimented the meal. We saw Rob again in the morn, he cooked and served our breakfast which was very nice. You can have cereal, porridge, juice, tea/coffee and a cooked breakfast. We enjoyed a cooked breakfast and toast with coffee. Rob is a very attentive host, nothing too much trouble. Highly recommended for a night away with some special food and service.

"We arrived here for a 2 night stay for a wedding (Fri sat night). PROS: Lynsey the manageress she 100% makes it so fabulous. Lovely, welcoming, looked after us brilliantly. Due to some staff shortages, she was doing what seemed like 10 jobs at once! We ate on one of the nights food was delicious! Great service tasty food. Breakfast was also spot on set us up brilliantly for the day ahead on the Saturday! The Willow room which we stayed in was fab ideal size, lovely cosy too! The whole 2 night stay was extremely reasonably priced the place itself has a great feel about it like a big cosy house! CONS: If you like total darkness, take an eye mask for sleeping as the rooms can get really bright from the early hours. Also, depending on the room, it’s on quite a busy road so can be quite nosy it would be worth having earplugs if you like a quiet surrounding. Due to staffing, the bar doesn’t stay open that late, so be mindful of this, they will however put drinks in your room if you can’t make it back in time for the bar closing. Taxis there are no local taxis, so arranging transport to the wedding we were attending was a nightmare which we didn’t account for! Luckily after 6 different phone calls, we managed to get sorted. The only gripe I had was the confusion over the bill if you decide to charge things to your room, the bills aren’t itemised so it’s difficult to keep track of what has been charged. There was some confusion on checkout over what we should shouldn’t have been charged for, so definitely choose to pay for any extras outright to avoid any confusion or uncertainty before check out. Other than that, it was one of the nicest, most personal stays we’ve had out in a long long time. This was mainly down to the Manageress Lynsey who is fabulous at her job really does make it feel like home makes you feel super welcomed relaxed. Thank you lynsey for really making a stay a one to remember."
