"Last night I dreamt of Manderlay thus intoned whoever-her-name-was-that-wasn't-Rebeca in the Daphne du Maurier masterpiece. Well hear it well dear readers and hear it now, last night, utterly unassisted by any mind-altering substance, I dreamt of a restaurant in Aix la Chapelle where the clients...spoke neither German nor French and where the staff spoke neither English nor Russian. At one point the manager hauled out a lady who spoke Bulgarian but this helped us little. The Tower of Babel re-enacted. I have to say, however, that the manager showed a rare talent for barnyard noises, enabling him, when our finger alighted on an item in the menu, to go baa moo cluck and even quack to denote the animal that had been slaughtered for our delectation. It may inerest readers to know that my friends main course actually went splash' but that is by the by. The Daliesque food, when finally we had deciphered what on earth we were being offered, was actually very good, tender moo and subtle splash but our sense of being lost in a Dali landscape reached a fever pitch when our translator offered us a lift home. Visions raced before us, were we being led into a vice ring, did a coven of warlocks await? We put on us and them' by the Floyd to sooth our fevered brows. The Bluetooth didn't work. A tinny noise from an iPhone was the only noise, barnyard ones aside, that broke the silence. Learn the lingo brothers, eat the food, enjoy tripping."

"This review has been a long time coming. Been coming here for about a year now at least once a month or so. The food is good, hearty portions, definitely value for money, salad comes with the meal. The house wine is a nice Greek...house wine. What makes me come back time and time again is the great family that own this place and my favorite comfort food dish at a great price. I may have a local passport but I am and always will be a foreigner, but they make me feel at home. They always got a smile on their faces and a kind word for us. Almost every time I take forever looking over the menu, I always wind up choosing out of one or two of my favorite dishes, it is just one of those things a real comfort I can count on, and they never get irritated by that habit of mine and they don't rush me no matter how busy, so thank you for that. I only wish they had some nice outside space, if they did I would be there almost the whole summer also. My only tip for them is the lighting in the back area of the restaurant, it needs to be done like the front to give it that cozy feel, it is the reason I try and request the front oh and perhaps being closer to the friendly family: Oh and a Greek night would be fantastic! Tastes are adjusted for the locals on some dishes, keep that in mind. Atmosphere is not chic, it is very homey, but that being said fresh flowers on the table and candles, so it has the charm and romance of a little Greek restaurant: Heck I am now craving my favorite dish Bifteki, I may just have to go tonight.... Thanks for the wonderful meals and great memories! See you soon"

"We have been in this restaurant on a Monday evening for dinner. We have seen the restaurant some time ago and looked nice, so we decided to give it a try. After minutes waiting for a table, we finally got a seat as soon...as the family seating there got up. Unfortunately, the waiter did not notice us until I did call him explicitly and asked him to at least tidy up the table the dishes and glasses from the previous guests were still there. After that we got the menus and the waiter asked us what we wanted to drink. I did reply that we would need to read the menu we wanted to order some wine and asked him to wipe the table he didn't do it when clearing up and there were still remains from the previous guests. this made him upset and I am still wondering why. Once we were done with reading the menus we did finally order drinks and food. We ordered some appetizers and a couple of warm dishes, explicitly asking for the appetizers to come as soon as possible. After minutes waiting, I had to call again the waiter and ask about our appetizers mixed appetizers dish, does not require any cooking so should have been done quickly. The waiter was kind of upset about my request, even though I was asking politely and after a quite long wait time. Finally, we received our appetizers and following also the warm dishes. The food was ok, but nothing special. The appetizers should have come with an ouzo but we didn't receive it, we thought that maybe they would have brought it after dinner. Once we finished the main course we decided to order a dessert. We opted for a slice of cake, which was actually quite good. Even here, waiting almost minutes for a slice of cake that just needed to be placed on a plate seem to be too much, also given the fact that many tables were already empty and there were not so many customers anymore. Finally, we asked for the bill. Unfortunately there were two errors in it. We first noticed that we were charged for two wine carafes, while we just had one. After asking the waiter he did check with the responsible and she confirmed that that was a mistake. Then he did subtract the amount not due and showed us the new total. We did pay also left some tip, but probably the waiter thought the tip was not enough since he almost thrown the euros change on the table and left without even saying thank you. Then, while looking again at the bill we noticed that we were charged euros for a chicken souvlaki normal price was Again we did call the waiter and told him about the error and again he did ask the responsible about it. She took the bill and checked again with the menu. Of course she did notice the error and gave us the difference except for cents, more tip for the waiter I suppose. We left the restaurant and went back home, quite disappointed. We will never come again of course, since we were unwanted guests: all tables around us got an ouzo shot on the house together with the bill, all except us"

"we were recently on our long journey to Germany from the normandie and took a branch from the autobahn after crossing the German/Belgium border to find somewhere to dinner. we literally followed our nases and landed at a place where they are called most corniest – somewhere. that seemed to be nowhere in the middle. the country hotel and restaurant looked like the suns on a cloudy day secretly and slanted. we parked in the generous, free parking lot and with our dog in the tow we made ourselves a way into the entrance. we were greeted more or less by a friendly waitress who looked at our dog and led us from the main part of the restaurant to an ante room that was apparently reserved for “with dogs”. we sat alone in this less than cozy part of the restaurant, far away from the cozy atmosphere of the main part of the facility and opposite a large stroller and sorted müll. I wasn't a happy man, but we had hunger. I was eating a bit when I realized that the menu had a good Greek component. we have ordered tzatziki and kalamata oliven as starter to share with some sweet red Greek wine and a welcoming pils beer. for my main course I chose the seemingly famous pork with the super hot, spicy, cream sauce. the Greek owner who took my order repeatedly warned me that this would be extremely hot and probably too hot for me to handle. little he knew me (of course.) as it was, the sauce, in which did quite sharp, was carved with chopped red chilis. it was served on a large plate with a plentiful amount of chips and with a side salad with a beautiful, tasty dressing. have I been suffering from spiciness? no care. to help everything down, I had a large glass pils shandy and felt happy after that if quite full. at the end of our evening I have spoken the inexpensive bill with the owner, a Greek gentleman, and we talked about his homeland and a time when my family I lived there. this rounded off the evening and took the edge from the rather frosty reception at the beginning."
