"We stopped here to try some game meat and local cuisine. Bad decision. We should have known that there was a problem when all of the other restaurants were full – and this one did not have a single client. We pout it down to being more expensive that the rest. It started when we tried to make reservations for the evening – the staff did not know how to take our reservation so they said they were only taking lunch reservations (at 1400). Did not make sense – but oh well. So we returned for dinner at around 2000, the same waitstaff were sitting down on a stoop doing nothing – they stood up and greeted us and as there were no clients, we were told that we could select a table (there are 25 – 30 outside). So I selected one with a view of the courtyard – to be told no. That the selected table was for four. We had to move to the same size table next to it – being told that our selected table was for four and this one for two people. Literally, the only difference (besides the view) was to move two sets of utensils. Thus, we are now next to a column and my view is of a rock. Now, not three minutes later, another couple arrives, and they give the table we asked for to them. When we complained, it was like talking to the rock next to me. Finally, another waiter, a woman, comes out. We explain to her the situation and very rudely, all she responded with was “I was not here – do you want another table” – and again – “do you want another table or not”. We are not happy at this point – and we should have just left. But It gets better. I was looking eating at the “Civet de Jabali” – more or less a stew of wild boar. I asked what “Civet” is. The waiter said he did not know what part of the boar this is. Being an American, Civet is another type of animal to me, so I was confused. We come to find out that it roughly translates to “stew” in this part of Spain (my partner is Spanish – and she did not know either). The waiter, at this very expensive restaurant, wearing a very nice, and useless, pure white sweater, had no idea – nor did the other waiter. Maybe they should study the menu a bit – instead of sitting on their backside waiting for clients. With dinner, I ordered a glass of wine – she opens it at the table, pours and walks away – I am not allowed to check it. Then, when I get the second glass – it just shows up at the table. No pour, no bottle no nothing. For all I know it was the cheaper wine from yesterday. Then, dinner arrives – when the bowl of stew was placed in front of me all I could see was the mountain of dirt under the waiters’ fingernails. Enough to grow and harvest tomatoes. It was disgusting. Instead of sitting on his backside, it would have been better if he was washing his hands. The food was expensive, no real presentation, and not very tasty (the Jebali was really dry) At least the olives and the desert were good passable. You would be better off going to the local store, buy some deer wild boar sausage, along with a good bottle of wine – and you will be better off."
