"Our second night in Albi and two restaurants we wanted to visit in the evening were closed. We decided to venture to a small local Vietnamese restaurant that received only 11 reviews but all very good and from French visitors. We arrived early and we're the only customers but received a friendly greeting in French with little English but a willingness to work with our very limited language skill. We decided on the fixed price menu at 17Euros a person. My husband had the shrimp salad, the beef with onions and peppers with rice all very fresh tasting and the salad had wonderful and crunchy ingredients in a lightly creamed dressing. I chose the beef and nem...a lovely dish with ginger spiced noodle, small slices of perfectly tender beef and two small fried rolls stuffed with finely shredded veggies and meat. My main dish was the shrimp (crevettes) Thailandaise a most delicious combination of crisp onion, cabbage, and a fantastic spiced cream sauce. I was told it was spicy but without the final dash of hot sauce it had just the right amount of zip. Both of us had the banana flambé to finish. This was just the right amount of food...not so much food that it could be shared. The cost including a lovely bottle of Gaillac Rouge was about 47 Euros. We feel this was a wonderful and very pleasant dinner and well worth the price. Thanks again to Evean our waitress and her parents the chefs!"

"This was our last day in France (for this year) and we spent a day in Albi. I asked at the hotel a quiet restaurant with no tourists and good french food. They told us to go to La Viguiere d'Alby. Although Albi in the evening is very quiet town anyway, we were not convinced by the restaurant entrance if this was going to be a good place or not. If we had left, we would have made the biggest mistake ever. We spent 55 Euros in total (including the wine) and the food was excellent, so good that by London's standards, the way the food was cooked, presented and served it would be considered the top end of a dining out. I had a started and main, my partner starter, main and dessert. The starters were a mixed of meat from the region for him, and the same but also with foie for me. My partner is not so keen on to much meat on a plate. He left the plate cleaned. So I did. We had trout (myself) and cod (him) with delicate sauces and very nice sides. Than he got dessert, half an apple cooked, with a open layer of pastry, like a flower with the petal open. Just incredible, the look of it and the taste, a dessert where so many things can go wrong was perfectly cooked. Also the lady serving us, was very sweet, she made the night even more special. we liked it so much so that we are looking for weekend in Albi just to go to this restaurant once again."

"We arrived for dinner last night and were promptly served by the efficient and courteous waiters who seated us & set the table quickly, provided us with menus and provided us sufficient time to peruse the menu. Our ice peach teas were delivered quickly. Service was provided with a sense of humour and understanding that we only speak very basic French and are mainly English speakers. However they are more appreciative of efforts if you attempt to order in French which was encouraging for us.My sister ordered the Plat du jour featuring the Caesar salad, Fricasee de Poulet (avec riz and legumes) & dessert which she thoroughly enjoyed although her Fricasee de poulet arrived a little after our mains. However, our waiter was quick to observe the delay in her meal's arrival time, and he quickly followed up with the kitchen to rush the order.I ordered the Le Vegetarianne Pizza which was delicious. My parents & partner also enjoyed the burger and salmon dish (with rice and legumes) which was a perfect portion and left us wanting more! Thankfully we had enough room for dessert, so we enjoyed the chocolate mouse, tiramisu and the creme brulee. Our dessert highlight was the Creme brulee which was perfectly cooked. We highly recommend eating here and would happily do so again if we were staying longer in Albi (as we are only travelling through Albi). For non-English speakers, the menu is in French which is authentic, and it is advised that you learn some basic French for ordering and understanding what you are ordering on the menu. However, some of the waiters do speak a little English but of course, it is always more fun to attempt to order in basic French for a better cultural experience:D!Merci beaucoup to the staff and team at Brasserie Le Vigan!!"

"If you turn off one of the main streets in downtown Albi, about a 7-minute walk from the Cathedral, you will find a beautiful bay from a cul-da-sac full of parasols, bidentate lights and red French bistro chairs against the...facing a medieval building. We have a reservation for 12:30 a.m. on a Sunday afternoon, and happy that we did how the place was full at 1:00 a.m. The menu had a decent amount of choices, not too many/not too few, and there were some options for a Prixfix menu of 29 to 32 euros. For three courses I thought it was a big price. I chose the Italian salad with burrata and a variety of peas tomatoes. I was grateful for the generous amount of tomatoes, and basil tasted fresh, but I did not quite understand the pairing of almost a sorbet basil and who knows what (it had a subtle sweetness). While it made the dish look visually tempting, I didn't think it was added to the taste. My husband chose the Prix-Fix-Menu of Wasserkress Gazpacho w/egg, Duck and Karamell sunshade for the desert. He loved it and enjoyed everything! The waiters were very sweet, but I have to mention that all tables around us receive their main courses before us. We sat in lunch for an hour, only the Gazpacho was served. Sometime near two broke my patience, and I went to ask where our food was. Then we got it within minutes. I am still uncertain why this happened, but I think the team would benefit from an additional one or two waiting staff during the rush. Overall, the ambience was great and the food tasted amazing."

"I will own that we had a successful visit to this restaurant last year where we enjoyed a pleasant lunch on the pavement. Today however arriving a little after 13h00 we were seated in the dining room at a table positioned too close both to a door and in good hearing of the serving bar where a radio was blaring away and a coffee machine was dispensing steam. We waited patiently for service then ordered three set menus and two a la carte dishes. We waited some time before starter appeared from the menu selection and this could be considered passable. A long wait then ensued before the a la carte dishes appeared to the folks who had yet to be offered even a piece of bread. The lamb chops might have worked if the diners had been furnished with a decent knife. The fish dish had clearly been floured and fried and then left under a heat source to dry out. The brussel sprouts were over cooked and likely reheated with a disgusting inedible result and whilst the pork was satisfactory there was very little accompanying vegetable. When eventually we were able to raise some service we complained about the fish and were offered an alternative but so late that we could not consider asking our fellow diners to wait further and had to be satisfied with a plate of cheese which again took so long to arrive and fellow diners were obliged to sit looking at their dirty plates all the while. To add insult to injury a further wait for desert and coffee we were charged the full amount and offered no redress. I think the least they could have done is refund one of the 50cl bottles of wine. An insincere expression of sorry was all we received. Will never visit this restaurant ever again."
