"This restaurant pub is a hidden gem located in a charming village, with a mention in the Michelin guide for its exceptional food. We made a reservation for Sunday lunch at 1:00 pm and were pleasantly surprised to find the place not too crowded. Over the two and a half hours we spent there, the restaurant gradually filled up without becoming overly crowded. The cozy establishment has around 20 covers, with additional seating and a bar area for drinks. They offer a selection of real beer and cider, as well as some snacks like chips and bread. The wine list is standard, but the food menu is where the restaurant shines. The Sunday lunch options included beef, lamb, sea bass, and a vegetarian cottage pie, all of which were delicious. The starters, such as ham hock terrine and mushrooms on toast, were equally impressive. We all opted for the beef, which was a perfectly cooked rib eye. The roast potatoes were excellent, though some found the carrots a bit too sweet. Despite being too full for dessert, we left satisfied with our meal at this friendly pub restaurant. We also noticed a lovely beer garden that would likely be bustling on a summer weekend. We will definitely return when in the area."

"The Thai food at this pub was surprisingly delicious. Be sure to make a reservation ahead of time as seating is limited. The beef pa nang curry had a great spicy kick and was very tasty. The lunchtime deal of a main and a pint for £11 was a great value. It was a nice change to see an alcohol-free beer on tap. The service was good and the atmosphere was pleasant. Overall, a great choice for a lunchtime meal with prices ranging from £10-20 per person."

"another good lunch with dratin and his charming wife and his personal. Despite the comfortable dining room, I like the tables in the bar, where in contrast to so many dining rooms today the locals still fall for a pint. these tables are particularly cozy in winter next to the fire. the lunch included a Thai croquet with wild calf, slightly spiced and with a delicious sesame dressing. the prefect starter that delights the taste buds, but lets them want more. a lacCarte star could be near chequers estate gras fed bark short nativity or main courses of a significant seafood pipe or glazed saddleback pork bauch. I had the adjusted midday main course of slow braided lamb fillet with a perfectly pink medium plus mint infused gravy and maic both effortlessly executed. the excellent cheese selection is kept in perfect condition and served, especially the cropwell bishop (notts stilton) and the award-winning cheese of the golden cross. put her sweet tooth with the ingwerkuchen rum cubed ananas or the cunning deconstructed chequers black forest gateaux. the wine card is also a good quality with some wonderful surprises from Hungarian. when it comes to pub food, it is directly at the extreme top. Efficient and friendly service of young employees simply add them to pleasure. it is worth traveling."

"for a family celebration. eating was nice as it was always. we were removed in a room from other diners, which meant that we could speak as a large group among us without disturbing other smaller groups. many thanks to the cook and the management for their really thoughtful approach to nutrition needs zb gluten-free. it was a great choice, each court could be tweet, that was especially beautiful when it desserts. I never felt like I was limited in my choice and the alternatives I was given was very good."

"Lovely dog friendly inn with great staff We arrived in this quaint village in the middle of a sweltering heatwave to check in for one night. We were able to do some drinks in the beautiful shaded garden while waiting for the room to be ready. The room was immaculate. Everything you might need was present (tea and coffee making sets, a common fridge with two types of milk, hair dryer and even an ironing board, iron and steamer)! The puppy received a small bed and a water dish which was a nice touch. The shower pressure was excellent as well. The best part was that they had already set up a ventilator for us and made the room cool for us. That’s an attention to service that’s remarkable. We had a lovely dinner and left after breakfast. The staff were kind, friendly and very attentive. We were even able to store our puppy food with their refrigerator! Highly recommend to those travelling with dogs."

"Booked Sunday carvery for son and daughter in laws birthdays. Seated beside a table of 20 very loud and we couldn't hear what each other was saying at times. The starters were ok but the main carvery very disappointing food was luke warm and not much flavour. Service was good but disappointed on the whole. Wouldn't rush back in a hurry."

"Popped in here as a half way point on a long journey. Our only disappointment is not being in the area more often! Lovely community owned pub with lots of locals. Service was super friendly and efficient with nothing being too much trouble, including gluten free requirements. The real star (sorry, couldn't resit) is the food. Fantastic French inspired food with high quality ingredients. The onion soup a particular favourite! I'll be looking for a excuse to detour via the Seven Stars again!"

"Went with my partner for Valentine's Day evening meal. Haven't been for a while as have moved further away, but thought we would treat ourselves. The welcome from Andy and his staff is always warm and friendly and felt like coming home after some time away. I had the Celeriac Truffle Soup, Cheddar Cheese Scone, Salted Butter, to start, which for me was so creamy and tasty, the best soup I have had for some time, my partner had the Goats Cheese Mousse, Beetroot Carpaccio, Candied Walnuts, Wild Rocket, she stated this was tasty and just the right amount of serving so that you could progress and enjoy the rest of the meal. For my main, I had theTwo Bone Rack of Lamb, Dauphinoise Potatoes, Peas a la Francais, Minted Red Wine Jus, which for me was cooked to perfection, my partner had the Slow Cooked Feather Blade of Beef , Truffle Mashed Potatoes, Toasted Herb Crumb, Green Beans, Roasted Shallot, Bordelaise Sauce which looked, smelt and tasted delicious as I had some of hers too, it is Valentines Day). Finally we both had dessert, I decided on the Espresso Custard Choux Bun, Baileys Butterscotch Sauce and my partner had Passion Fruit Tart, Raspberry Sorbet, Mango Syrup. My dessert, again was delicious for me, lots of cream and sauce, which may for some, seem a little sickly, but for me, was perfect, my partner commented how lovely hers was and glad she chose that one. I have been coming to the Old Thatched Inn since just before 2008 credit crash, I remember how concerned Andy was about the future, but if just do the right thing, cook the food with care and make people feel welcome and good about themselves in that environment, well, he is still doing it today, with the same care and affection for his business and customers. Wish we could get down more to give even more support, keep going Andy, see you soon"

"after we read the reviews we booked here when we went to waddesdon manor. pub wasn't open so we let ourselves in the back door. there is no direct access from the rooms to the inner of the pubs. we were a night, room 4 needs. a head part and a chair, and a dust, although a comfortable bed. low deck in the bathroom and quirky uneven floor plates. room 5 a single, very low deck suitable only for a child. red window frame, cracked glass, dirty difficult to pull blind, nosiey rayer that kept my friend awake all night. small bathroom, loo squeezed in by shower. the room is so small that it is recommended to open a window to cook the boiler to stop the smoke alarm off, or as recommended by the owner to put the boiler on the landing!. my friend had no sleep all night and was ice cold when she had to turn off the radiator. housekeeper told us owners knew about windows / rooms for weeks, but nothing had done to fix the problem. the menu is inspired withchellin with plastered cabbage, picked walnuts, meerrettich, white beans, which are included on the menu and partly written in French. it doesn't sell because there is no description. featherstone bavette .local bred pork chop boiled pink. bark marinated what I felt as hard. unfortunatley not for us. my last job worked as restaurant manager in a 5-star hotel knightsbridge and I fought to choose from the menu. the owners were fast, both rooms and bills to remove, thank you. the breakfast was excellent, although a pot tee, instead of a cup, a menu, and some ohrengrau tee might have been nice. we found the choice of very dark green walls and deck too dark. as a very old inn, has simply not done justice."

"wow, what a fantastic meal we had on Saturday night. the menu had so many different dishes that we did not yet come, it was great to try new things that we were not disappointed. the choice was incredible, the eating piping hot, the service very good, plentiful portions of eating, not thrown out, relaxing atmosphere was a nice note after dinner drinks are offered on the house. highly recommended"

"Nestled in a little village in MK called Great Brickhill is this cute cosy pub that has some beautiful views from the garden area to enjoy! This place was a perfect way to spend our Sunday with some quite amazing roast dinners Below is what we had: Drinks: • Hot chocolates we cosied up with a hot chocolate that had some delicious homemade shortbread on the side which were very moreish! Food: • Slow braised pork belly roast • Slow roasted beef roast All I can say is WOW, both roasts were pretty damn amazing! The meats were succulent and not chewy at all. Served with root vegetables, roast potatoes steamed veg with red wine gravy to pour which was delicious homemade Yorkshire puddings, the pork belly comes with stuffing too I highly recommend trying out the roasts, you will leave feeling happy full for sure! The service was brilliant, thank you to Julia for taking care of us and providing a service with a smile"

"I heard Sunday dinner. we were greeted by dawn with a warm welcome and quickly shown on our table. the waitress quickly took drinks to order and bought the menu. excellent selection of starters and netzen on menu and a special board as well. Eating was mainly the Sunday dinner, generous portion, good meat, mixed vegetables and a beautiful cauliflower cheese. the staff was attentive and the man came by and asked if we needed more sweet or gravy. sad had no place for a pudding. will definitely be back."

"stay here for two nights during the visit of the family in the opposite beautiful old, jagged pub (think low ceilings, open fires and comfortable chairs). our room was in the caves in the rebuilt barn building over the parking lot and had steep stairs to him so check them with the staff if they think they could not be in the position to manage them, there are other rooms in the ground floor. our room was really nice, a double room in white and gray with a bright scree and kisses that a bright airy feeling. large bathroom shower room provided with care products, but watch her head when she uses the loo in this room, as the man his head a few times because of the low deck no damage to head or wall, but it made him jump 'until he got used to it. tea and coffee accessories with (yippee) a small refrigerator with fresh milk in it no uht pods here. also cookies are available. beautiful full English breakfast both morning with very good quality sausage and smoked speck and personal were attentive, friendly and polite and had no problem with the desire of my mannes for a smaller cooked breakfast. in the breakfast menu there is any quantity choice if not a complete English for it. four of us ate here on Monday night and although we warn, it was a limited menu (this was the week before Christmas, so not sure whether this was only for this time or if this is customary for a Monday night as they had a deal on two nets for the price of one) there was still enough choice for everyone. absolutely tasty duck for one of us, cake for the other three and charge freshly cooked vegetables. managed a scrumptious dessert and went into bed filled. we will book here again safely if we are on this way in the not too far future."

"Went for a festive meal with family. Meal was good but could have been better. Starters were lovely especially the soup and mushrooms. The turkey main was a little disappointing. The turkey itself was very tasty, roast potatoes a little anaemic and only two of them. It could be improved by including the trimmings pig in blanket, stuffing, roast parsnip.The brownie was delicious, crumble very nice but very thin custard and a little thin.I must say the owners work very hard, Alister in the kitchen and Danni running the bar as well as waitressing.Well done overall a good meal, value for money.I wouldn't mind paying a little extra for the trimmings."

"I never give bad reviews but great tasty meal and reasonably priced for food. Drinks were absolutely extortionate but I guess that's how they make their money! A group of 10 celebrating a birthday. They took drinks order seperate, which was strange. After telling them 2 or 3 tines we needed seperate bills as everyone wanted to pay for their own meals etc, they presented us with a jumbled up bill, which was only food. Drink was on a seperate bill, which they would not give us to work out the extra cost. Everyone added up exactly what they had and we all paid separately. They then came to our table and said that we was £9 short. This did not make sense. We asked again to see the bill, so we could work it our for ourselves and they conviently said they had lost it, so how did they know we was £9 short. Either the menu prices weren't correct or they are diddling their customers. All in all, lovely food great company but s**t hosting skills!!!!! First time there, not impressed!!! Would return BUT would tally up as we go."

"We enjoyed the delightful and scrumptious Thai cuisine at affordable prices. We dined during the early bird special and were impressed by the high quality of the dishes. The green curry and stir-fried chicken with cashews were particularly delicious. The staff was welcoming and attentive. It was clear that the restaurant is popular, as there were many takeout orders being picked up at the bar. The bar had a friendly and laid-back atmosphere. We will certainly return as it offers better value compared to the pricey Oh Phuket in Tring."

"amazing customer service. this pub makes her feel completely home. "Was having a lazy Sunday afternoon, watching the football. Decided to have a pizza, so ordered online. Not the easiest to order online, but we got there. No tracking information, but a standard 60mins delivery window was given. I ordered the chicken and bacon BBQ pizza. The listing mentioned that there would be olives; none were present on the pizza. That said, there were generous toppings on the pizza and the bacon with BBQ sauce really did hit the spot. It’s a shame that there was no tracking or accurate updates on the delivery of the pizza. I was, however, pleasantly surprised when the pizza arrived after only 30mins and still hot!"

"Ambience was absolutely fine. Unfortunately, the waitress said she would bring us menus and after 25 minutes I had to ask for one at the bar starters came after a bit of a wait. Whitebait was ok but nachos were from a packet. Then we had to wait for 40 mins for mains. This was ok but very very greasy. A little dispatch as we've always had good experiences here. Staff were young and new so we tried to be patient as they have to to learn the menu and the drinks available. It was busy but we had booked for 7.15 and didn't get mains until 8.45pm. I will go back but not for a long while ."
