"We had intended to have an early dinner at 18:15 on a weekday in April, but in this very small place all 6ish tables were taken already. We then decided to order pizza for take-away. The prices of these pizzas is utterly amazing, in comparison to UK prices (the cheapest from €4 up to €9). The choice of vegetarian toppings is okay - though not a reason to make a detour for this place. However, the house specialty - Pizza da Gudio - _is_ truly special: artichokes, garlic, and, you could have guessed it (not!), lettuce and cucumber. Sounds weird, but it works for me.Sadly, the overall pizza taste isn't that great. They seem to use a kind of white-cheesy sauce as their base; instead of simply using tomato sauce, sprinkle cheese on top and then add oregano. I'm not sure why this Pizzeria doesn't believe in this approach, but uses this white-cheesy sauce and tomato puree. Also, it seems that some ingredients are not fresh (e.g. tinned mushrooms). If you don't order take-away, but eat here: it's self-service. You order at the counter, and once your order is ready you collect it from there. You help yourself to cutlery, and a glass... Some people find the interior cosy, "culty" and inspiring - to me it looks like someone tried, many years ago, to put as many different things into a tight space, and let dust settle. You will know whether that's attractive to you, or not."

"I read the reviews before deciding to go there for a meal and found the reviews mostly positive, of course there is always someone less than happy but such negative reviews can be just as instructive as the positive ones. That said, the wife and...I stepped into the restaurant and saw what's possibly the best reference you have for an Asian Restaurant.... a table of or so visiting Chinese business patrons and ok the restaurant is just across the road from a top German brand hotel Steigenberger where the Chinese visitors were probably staying, but even so. The reviews I'd read were mostly praising the friendly service as well as the tasty duck dishes. Having been there I can confirm that the service is friendly, and efficient, and the duck, tasty Price wise it's not bad, euros for that's aperitif, drinks, starters, main course we had the Duck a la Malaya and the Trio duck, chicken scampi, dessert and coffee. The only question I had was on ordering a double espresso it looked exactly like normal portion espresso but then I guess I have Costas Co to thank for expecting an Americano sized double espresso. Seriously. An enjoyable experience and being local, we will definitely be going there again... Oh, and one last word. Some reviews commented on the decor. Personally I found it fitting and in no way jaded, faded or whatever. The paintings on the wall may seem a little kitsch to some but I like them and as I said to my wife: Go and eat in a typically local Chinese restaurant in Shanghai I have and then we'll talk."
