"The food at this restaurant is great, and the waitresses are lovely and polite. I have always received excellent service there until tonight. I am a local resident and went with my wife, two teenagers, and a one-and-a-half-year-old child. The pub advertises as family-friendly, so if they don't want young children running around, they should seat families in a separate room. The waitress was actually a man in a flowery shirt, and he politely asked me to keep my child seated so she wouldn't disturb other diners. There were only two families in the restaurant, including us, and an elderly couple, so it wasn't crowded. This has been my go-to place for food, but after this experience, I may skip it for a while. I believe the staff should understand that parents sometimes need to keep their little ones entertained, especially when the children's play area is closed. I appreciate the waitress for making our visit comfortable, but it was a shame it was ruined by this incident. If the pub doesn't like children, they should consider rebranding as not family-friendly or designate a separate seating area for families. I paid £100 for a meal for my family of five, and I believe we should be able to enjoy our time there as well. To clarify, my child was not running around unsupervised - my 15-year-old was watching her to prevent any disturbances. I will also be contacting Bateman's directly about this issue. I didn't want to cause a scene with the manager or landlord, so I left without confrontation. It's unfortunate to see the restaurant empty of families, as it used to be a welcoming place for everyone. Service: 3 Location: 5."

"Me and my Other half have visited a few times before so i thought I would Share my Thoughts. We Booked a Prepaid Three Course Meal Which was a Gift a week in advanced as it can be Difficult to get a table. We were Greeted straight away and shown to our Table, We Ordered two glasses of Wine. It was a bit of a Rocky Start as the Waitress dropped the Wine over me and my Partner, They were Very Apologetic and got everything Cleaned up Right away, for me it wasn't a too big of a Deal as Accidents Happen, they Offered that the next drink is on the house which was a very Kind Gesture Most Restraunts would still charge after a Similar ordeal I had the Classic Tomato Bruschetta, Bolognese and Tiramisu, My partner had the Mozzarella Cheese Sticks, Chicken and pepper Pizza and Honeycomb Cheesecake. Everything was Cooked Fresh and Tasted Fantastic Bruschetta was Excellent! I have No Complaints on the Food, It is Delicous. It is Not the Best I have Experienced but it is the Best in Boston. Both The starters and the Mains came to Our table rather Quickly which was Brilliant, The Desert took just over 20 Minutes. The Staff also had Superb service, Extremely polite, friendly and Truly Dedicated in making your Experience as Pleasant as Possible. Aside from the Slight mishap With the Wine The waitress seemed very Nervous on that Night Bless her, It was very busy She helped clean us Up after and Still kept her Professionalism! I Really do Reccomend this Restraunt to anybody, Couples, Families and friends. The Food is Marvellous, Nicely Presented and Delicous. The staff especially make it a Pleasant Experience."

"We had recently moved to the area in June 23 and thought we would give our local pub a try with our 2 friends. We booked the table for 6.30 on a Tuesday. Arrived and within 5 minutes we had our meal choices taken and a few minutes later our drinks arrived. So far so good. The pub was half empty. An hour later our food arrived! Not good! I ordered Castle Chicken which is a chicken breast with trimmings, but received a chilli meat burger. I called the waiter over and asked him if this was Castle chicken (he looked a little agitated), and he said it was a chilli burger. Due to the length of time we waited I said just leave it and I would eat the chips and salad. He said he would deduct my drink, a pint of Inch's cider and would give me a double portion of dessert I didn't get the double even though the waiter told the young lad to do it. We each had a meal (all under £20) and dessert (no idea how much desserts were). 3 of us had 2 drinks 1 to be deducted and 1 had a pint of shandy. The whole thing came to £148 which after leaving, we thought was expensive and probably wrong. It took the waiter 3 attempts to enter the items into the till. He kept asking us what we had. He was getting very agitated with the till. We just wanted to get out as was feeling uncomfortable. My partner says he will never go there again. I want to go when the owner is there as apparently it runs more smoothly with less waiting time when she is there. I also want to check what we were charged. The other 3 people in our party said the food was good and good value for money, albeit we think we were overcharged!"
