"We went here for Valentines night Firstly they rang me up during the day and were quite brusque in asking for deposit for the reservation. On the night as soon as we got through the door it was clear it was REALLY overcrowded.. in my opinion there were far too many tables in there, everyone was sitting very close to each other (It was like Covid had never existed and no masks on any of the staff. There were people waiting to be seated and waiters running around literally pushing past us to serve plates of food. Nobody was there to greet us and the serving staff just looked at us and ignored us -after waiting there for about minutes, with a waiter on the till right next to me and ignoring me I said we had reserved a table He grunted name I gave him my name and he carried on looking at the screen- He said nothing and then walked off I asked him Are you going to take us to our table and he said You are early its not ready, we can't sit you down while people are still finishing their meals We were mins early. So we sat at the tiny bar area where there was a mountain of unwashed glasses on the bar- as we sat there I noticed a washing cloth on the floor and there was kitchen staff serving food with a cigarette behind his ear !!! They eventually took us to our table- And asked What was the name of the reservation again -It was like they didn't have a record of our reservation although they had rang me in the day for the deposit- The table was in a corner of the restaurant by the window and below a speaker which was pumping out very loud dance music, we had to shout to talk to each other, not very romantic for Valentines night! We spoke to the waitress about the music she was rude and walked off. I went up to her at the bar and she was speaking rudely about us to the man who I had spoken to at the till- I spoke to them and said Can you please turn down the music and you have not asked us for our drinks order they had served others who were seated after us- to which the man replied No we cant turn down the music and its busy cos its Valentines night -what do you want us to do about it I said if I hadn't paid a deposit I would leave he said I can give you back the deposit' and I said OK- He said sarcastically I am sorry we didn't meet your expectations' My husband then tried to sort it out so we could have our Valentines meal there, as we hadn't booked anywhere else and didn't really want to be wandering the streets looking for another restaurant on Valentines night but it couldn't be resolved, as they were not prepared to accommodate us and we left. Luckily we went to Nam Thai across the road who were very friendly and who had plenty of room and it was lovely food! We have been to Aqua before for special occasions but it has really gone downhill I think it must be different people running it They have basic decor no white table clothes and had just crammed in as many people as possible for Valentines day and there were not enough room or enough waiting staff and they were very rude! Never again!"
