"Casually strolling around Tesco with a large trolley, slowly filling it item by item. Carefully adjusting the Tetris game I am playing with myself. After moving the eggs to the top of the pile I looked to my left searching for frozen peas... an then...I seen it! It appeared out of the freezer mist that was hovering over the isle! It can only be described as a sign from above.... I had whispers of something much more powerful then the need for a food shop. I looked down at the full trolley an then I looked around to see if I could see anyone. With nobody to be seen... I ditched the trolley! I had spotted a Costa!! Caffeine is more important then frozen peas! The escalator felt like a stairwell to heaven. That was it, I had entered the coffee shop! Arriving at the till I was greeted by a young lady that asked me what I would like. After describing that I’ll take an Americano, Large. She asked politely if I’d like a cinnamon bun... I replied with a “no thank you”. She came back at me with a “are you sure?” I then said “no no honestly I’m fine!” She then came back at me yet again with a description stating that the buns were lovely! I was beginning to think that I should of continued with my shop. However I was low on Caffeine an I needed my fix so I replied one last time with a “I bet they are but I don’t want one thank you!” After the cinnamon buns being laughed off I asked if I could have a little cup of ice with my Americano so it was drinkable from the off... I received a reply from a different barista “you know what would go really nice with a cup of ice!?” I said what’s that!? She stated rather pushingly “A CINNAMON BUN!!” An then she started howling! Not literally, not like a wolf but a laughing howl! I think my straight face made the joke uncomfortable as I was glaring into this barista’s soul thinking don’t you start! I finally got to my table an I realised that they had made me the wrong sized drinks! See all that cinnamon buns on the brain made them do their job wrong! Luckily the First Lady I spoke to spotted my despair an came over and rectified the size issue! After receiving what I asked for the caffeine was lovingly consumed an I felt a warm fuzzy feeling inside! Later that day when I got home with no shopping I realised that maybe I should of sorted my food shop first before the coffee... until next time... #TheCaffeineGhost"

"We arrived at the restaurant eager to try the Chips we had seen on a previous visit where we were seated about 2 minutes too late and could only order cakes and cold snacks. This time we arrived with plenty of time and the restaurant...was busy. It took about 5 minutes to get seated and there was no queue to enter. We were seated next to a small hedge on a table for two, near the Tills and route to the exit. We were given menus, then within about 2 minutes we were asked what we wanted to order, which seemed a little rushed. As we already knew roughly what we wanted we ordered drinks and Some of the rustic chips we had gone there for, and I had a Spinach, cheese and Pesto toastie. We chatted for a bit, watching others come and go, and noticed other people were arriving, and getting served their drinks and their food before us. We had been seated for about 20 minutes before our drinks came, with no apology for the wait, about 10 minutes later the food arrived. The chips were excellent but my Toastie was extremely thin. The staff member asked us if we needed condiments about a minute later. We noticed other people who had arrived after us had eaten their meals and began to queue up as we were starting ours. The queue was located immediately next to our table on the other side of a small artificial hedge. I could see the lady at the tills was busy, there were two tills but only one in use. The queue got quite large and it took about 30-40 minutes for it to fully die down. During which period we had people less than 2 feet from our table, standing, coughing, sneezing, on us and making eye contact with my friend who was facing the queue. Had we known this prior to being seated we would have asked for another table. At one point we even had a person sitting on the hedge with his backside practically on our table. We couldn't talk because it felt like people were listening. We also had dogs watching us eat as their owner queued. When the queue had dissipated somewhat we tried to attract the attention of a staff member to make a complaint. It took ages, eventually I had to stand and shout over to a person called Nick, we identified him as the only person who had been friendly or upbeat during the whole of the service. We told him that we weren't happy that no one had been attentive, once we were seated, being left for 20-30 minutes without a drink is not acceptable, at this point we could have walked out, and we have seen people do it before, at the very least a drink means we have to wait for our food. We told him we had witnessed a lady served fish and chips and then not given a fork, and when she tried to attract attention she was ignored, even when making eye contact with the lady at the till, she ended up having to queue to get cutlery whilst her food got cold. We also told him about the queueing situation. He basically advised us that there was no process to deal with the complaint that day, and we would have to submit feedback via their website. We told him we were not trying to get a refund, discount or a voucher just for someone to acknowledge that our visit had not been satisfactory, so that our feedback could be used constructively. In the end we could see we were not going to achieve anything. What rounded our visit off was the completely neutral handling of our payment, no pleasantries, just an instruction to check and insert my card. On this basis I would not recommend the restaurant. I appreciate we probably sound stuck up, but we are quite young and after so long not being able to go out, this experience was not what we were looking forward to."

"As a group of ex colleagues, we've been meeting up here about 4 times a year on a Monday night for at least 10 years. The food has never disappointed and we've always stayed for the fun quiz afterwards. We've always booked a table in advance as it's a busy night. Last night was our first visit of the year, the table was pre booked, the food was enjoyed, and we were ready for the quiz. And there ended our night we were asked to leave as the table was needed for a group of quizzers who sit there every week! Apparently we had only booked for a meal, the table was somebody else's for the quiz. This we were told has been the system for at least a year! Nothing has ever been mentioned about this and nothing was said when we made the booking. We asked if next time we could book for both and were told it wouldn't be likely as the same groups book out the tables for the quiz. Despite paying around £100 for our drinks and food we were no longer welcome, even though we've done this for years. It appears that unless you're in the local clique, pay for a beer and have a free sandwich, your custom is not wanted on a Monday. However, I'm sure you'll be welcome on other nights when business is slow and they need your custom. We will be taking ourselves elsewhere from now on. Another pub in the area know how badly the Queen's Head treat their customers and have welcomed us to theirs instead."
