"Very regular customers here and usually could not fault the food and service we receive. There are quite a few new members of staff and I think that will to make sure no one leaves unhappy has gone. After booking a week previous and entering today there was a sign saying cash only. Usually I have no cash, but today I did so no worries. My party all ate and had a very good meal and the service was good, that was until payment time, the only cash I had included a £50 note. It felt the staff were joyous in telling me they didn't except them. Maybe we should have been called before we came of the cash only and no 50's. Even so as it was your issue cash only was the only payment method and being a regular taking my money would have been the best choice for customer service, to be ridiculed by your staff members all around smirking was not enjoyable. I was not offered any Management review of the circumstance I was in, and to be told we don't take them because of counterfeits and your inability to be able to check them. Its the same method as 20's! Obviously I looked like a crook and the fact I ate there once every week and twice every other week I am unfamiliar to you. Luckily one of my friends we dined with had some extra cash to borrow me to pay, otherwise what? The staff didn't even notice we didn't make are booking for next week , why would we? or they were relieved to get rid of such a shabby customer. You all did! I am booking elsewhere. Very disappointed, this was a lovely place to come."

"Sadly, I don't have great things to say about this restaurant. We were greeted politely and taken to our well-laid spacious table for 5. Our problems started with the wine list which was limited and expensive. We settled for the house wine as nothing else...took our fancy or was beyond our budget. When the wine arrived it turned out to be a chardonnay which was not stated on the menu, otherwise we wouldn't have ordered it. It was totally undrinkable! And at the cost of 20+, we were not willing to settle. After a bit of friendly negotiating with our waitress, she agreed to swap it for another bottle. But the glass of sauvignon blanc she returned with was equally as unpleasant. And, again, as the price was so high 30 I think) we were unwilling to just put up' with it. Having said that, the waitress agreed that we could bring our own bottle (we were staying in the hotel so had a few bottles in our room for after dinner) which was very kind of them. I ordered the fish and chips with garden peas rather than mushy but the waitress was soon back at our table as the kitchen didn't have garden peas. We agreed that I would have brocoli instead. When our food arrived, there was mangetout on the plate. So I'm not sure what happened there. The piece of fish was pretty small but tasty and soft with a light batter. It was pleasant enough and the mangetout were crunchy and delicious! When it came to paying, we asked to pay separately and the host split our bill into 5 separate bills which allowed us all to pay individually for what we had eaten. I thought that was a great service as it made splitting the bill very simple, especially seen as we were all paying on card. Overall, the service from the front of house was pretty good and the meal was fine and decently priced. But in my opinion, the wine list left a lot to be deserved and would benefit from review."

"If you could give no stars that would be my option. Booked a table on Saturday morning for Saturday evening 5pm, all confirmations came back. Arrived for our meal (3 adults 2 children 1 which required a high chair) stood at the entrance to the restaurant for 5 minutes (where the greet point was) but no one came so entered restaurant and headed towards the bar. Saw a lad clearing some tables so asked him about my reservation but was quickly dismissed with him stating “he didn’t normally work there” and he hurried off to find someone else. A “manager” then came out walked past us to collect an iPad from said greeting point then headed back. Asked our name, name given to which he then was looking on the iPad and discussing with us where we could or couldn’t sit... we had made a reservation why is one of the tables that’s noted reserved not for us? After finally deciding where to put us he took us to the table. We sat down and he said he would fetch a high chair. 10 minute later we are still sitting there no high chair no menu no drinks orders taken. Just completely being ignored. The fact that the restaurant was empty and the only people within were at the bar or watching sports on a tv in the corner just added salt to the wound. Therefore being extrmemely fed up with the entire experience and feeling very unwelcome we left and went over the road to the pub/restaurant the corn mill and had a completely opposite experience. Will never Attempt the village again!"
