"Visited as a group of 11 for Mother’s Day! Unfortunately we didn’t have a good time. There was a set menu but nothing for children, a few people wanted prawn starters but they only had 1 available which had stale bread. A few people ordered ‘fresh fish and chunky chips’, it came with fries and was definitely not fresh, it oozed water out when cut into and was square shaped at the ends as though it was a frozen piece. Majority of us ordered roast dinners, and asked for a smaller version for the babies of the group, the cauliflower cheese and broccoli was rock hard but the rest was good! One of the babies of the group had a milk and soya allergy so we went through what he could and couldn’t eat, they brought him a roast dinner with a Yorkshire pudding on after them telling us he couldn’t have Yorkshire pudding… it was sent back and brought back out supposedly fresh, but a couple of hours after eating, the baby is really poorly with a reaction. All of this was topped off when we saw one of the kitchen staff vaping in the kitchen! We weren’t told what food they were missing until it was ordered even though it was a very small set menu. 1 course of set menu was priced at around £17 but the same meals on a normal menu for a normal day were priced about £10? Huge increase for poorer food, really do not recommend."

"Been a few times for a meal and the food and service has been excellent, so as a treat me and mum decided to go today. Mum had her usual fish and chips, but instead of what i usual order from Humber Tarverns menu I decided to have something different from the menu. I ordered Chicken Sizzler in sweet chilli sauce along the optio, half chips, half rice. I was so looking forward to it. A member of staff brought it out and it wasn't so much of a sizzler but a cloud of smoke coming from it, it was that bad even the member of staff had to step back as the smoke was going in her face. It smelt as though it was burning so I quickly spooned the food off the cast iron dish onto my plate, but I couldn't take it all off as half had burnt onto the dish. I didn't want to complain so I tried to eat it while picking out all the burnt meat and veg off, I got so far through and I couldn't stand the taste or smell of it anymore. When a staff member came back to the restaurant I explained that the food was burnt and although I tried to eat it I couldn't stand the taste or smell anymore. Her response was well it is a sizzler. I explained that I've had sizzlers exactly like this before and they've never arrived burnt, she said she'd speak to them in the kitchen. Her next response was that it was because of the sweet chilli sauce that it burnt. Again I told her I've had this meal before a number of times at different places and it's never come out to the table burnt. She just didn't want to know. I wasn't looking for a refund, I just wanted it replacing and an apology but didn't get either. So we asked for the bill, we did get asked if we wanted pudding though, the answer was NO. We paid and left very disappointed and me still hungry."

"We last came here in February of 2022. A spur of the moment choice which we were very thankful for. We came this time, on a Sunday evening for a friend's birthday. I'd booked a table weeks ago, but, thankfully, the restaurant was very quiet. It had been a very warm summers day and we were all very grateful for the air con! We'd already decided to have the mixed platter of starters, so we all had just one item of each. This was priced at £8.50 per head. In hindsight, we'd order differently next time. We all agreed that the star of the platter was the prawn toast. Thick bread topped with very meaty prawns, and very thickly covered unlike a lot of places. We all agreed that was the best starter. We all ordered different mains, I had the sweet and sour king prawns, others had shredded beef, honey and garlic chicken, sweet and sour chicken and char sui pork (I think). We also ordered sides of plain noodles (with onion and bean sprouts) and egg fried rice. The portions were very fresh, plentiful, and arrived quickly. There were left overs (non of us like food waste), so these were boxed up for us to take home. The service, well, what a character Stanley is! Lovely chap, affable and charming. We were served by his daughter too. Very polite and charming, not invasive, just right. It was a perfect evening at Stanley's. The only off putting thing is the buckets of cigarette ends at the door from the car park. That area just needs a bit of a tidy up. The interior of the restaurant is lovely but that's the only thing that lets this fantastic Chinese down."

"We went in last saturday for a meal and a couple of pints, it 's quite a regular thing. It was quite busy and we were lucky to get a table after waiting about 5 minutes. My partner went to order and was gone some time , 20 minutes or thereabouts. I figured she must be chatting to one of the staff as we always have a good laugh with them. Then my partner came to me slightly distressed , she was having trouble getting served even after 20 minutes stood at the bar. She was stood at the corner and the bar staff were seemingly only serving those at the front of the bar, even though my partner had been stood waiting to be served some 15 minutes before a lot of them. She shouted out to the barstaff ' are you serving '? The responded with 'you don 't get served any quicker by shouting ' and repeated this mantra style , trying to wind my partner up, which they did and regretably my partner told one of them to where to go. She realised this was wrong but she is registered disabled and in constant pain and can 't stand for long periods. She didnt want any favours for being disabled, she is too proud to ask for them. All she wanted was to be served when it came to her turn, which was clearly not happening. When I confronted the barman he said 'we don 't really serve here ' I said 'I know, I can see ' He then produced a ' Glass collection only ' placard, 20+ minutes too late. he said it was a non serving area even though there was a visa card machine there on the bar and we 've always been served there before without any problem . On our way out I just happened to look behind me to see 'Sydney ' a female member of the barstaff give the finger and saw her mouth ' off ' Now does anybody think a person like that should be working in the leisure industry ? All 3 of the barstaff were incompetent in my eyes and need a talking to or re-training. We went for a pleasurable night out, not aggro, we 're in our 60 's not yobs. We spent about £20, not a lot I know, we would have stayed longer and spent double that, still not a lot but every little counts. And as for bringing my grandkids here for a treat total spend £40+ I don 't think that 'll happen again. I see the pub wants to increase it 's taking by £2000 every week . . It ain 't gunna happen with abusive barstaff that you had on that night. Thank you. Brian. Ps I emailed and texted the manager to see if we could solve this issue amicably. NO REPLY which says a lot. Pps I hear Darleys do good meals."
