"Finding 'breakfast ' in southern Spain is no easy task. Sure, you can find all the toast-tomato-jamon that you can shake a stick at but sometimes good-old bacon and eggs is what you 're craving. After seeing a few photos that showed pancakes and omelettes I figured I had to give it a try. 9:30 in the morning is early by Andalucian standards so the place was largely empty. We had our choice of places to sit in the funky but cozy bar-restaurant. The walls are decorated with vintage 60 's and 70 's film photos and posters while the back wall is dominated by a 60 's inspired colorful wall treatment which contrasts interestingly with exposed beams of the ceiling and the otherwise dark, cozy feel. The menu was confined to items written on blackboards and the narration of the friendly and helpful waiter. There was a slight problem in that my Spanish was not quite up to the task of keeping up with the waiters Andaluz. However, it was determined that my wife and I were not there for breakfast as we had thought because that would have entailed the previously mentioned toast and jamon. No, we were there for brunch according to the waiter. So after much discussion with the waiter involving some pantomime, I thought I had ordered pancakes and an omelette with tomatoes and mushrooms, but also fully aware that I may get something completely different. Somewhat different won out. What arrived was two fried eggs, over-easy, bacon, fresh tomatoes, and sauteed mushrooms. It was all excellent! I noticed a large selection of homemade cakes that I will be sure to try when I return. I will also be looking up the word 'pancakes ' so I can order that next time as well."

"If you’re looking for a place with great family friendly ambiance, this is the spot for you. If however you’re looking for a place with great family ambiance and consistently fantabulous food...this is not the spot for you! To begin on a positive note: The service was top notch as usual, the facilities were immaculate, the Guinness chocolate cake is fantastic, and the coffee was superb. Come through java! Having said that... After 3 visits we’ve graciously picked at an über bland chicken wrap that would make my 4th grade cafeteria ladies proud, and a couple of brunch selections that left me with a twitchy side eye. First there were the dry pancakes. While the fruit garnish and toppings were delicious, the actual pancake batter was either mixed too long or over cooked which yielded a sad little short stack of disappointment. Even our resident pancake bandit toddler wouldn’t eat them. Next were the chicken waffles. Everything would’ve been great if the nice waffles weren’t topped with four tragically unseasoned, strangely ‘breaded’ chicken wing-dings. Come on now! Fried chicken is an easy win! Fluffy sweet waffles and crisp, savory well seasoned chicken? Apparently not today! The stars of the dish were laying on top of a few really good waffles like four little dreams deferred that had been salvaged from the previous evening. PLEASE work on this y’all! Maybe we caught them at an off-time, or the cook was rushing. But missed details such as these have the potential to be truly off putting. This review is by no means intended to sway folks from visiting The Shamrock. If you’re tuned-in to your food ask the good questions regarding your menu choices and cross your fingers. Conversely if you’re not at all particular... order at will and party on!"
