"The Sanbao Chinese Kitchen is quick, flavoursome and cheap – especially at lunchtime. The lunch special is a bargain £6.50, which includes drink (choices include fruit juices and Chinese tea), starter and main course with rice. You pay £7.50 for some of the premium choices. The only problem is, everything pitches up together. While I was delighted to receive my mushroom consommé – good flavour, slightly gloopy – almost immediately after ordering, I was dismayed to be brought my main course barely 20 seconds later. The sweet and sour chicken dish with pineapple was good, with a rich red citrusy sauce and mound of rice, but it was so hard on the heels of the starter that it was difficult to juggle everything. It’s less of problem if you order, say, a spring roll starter, which can be incorporated into the meal. Usually, the mushroom soup is £3.80, the sweet and sour chicken £7.50, the rice £1.50, the tea £1.50… so you get £14.30 worth of food and drink for your £6.50. And it has to be £6.50 as the restaurant is one in a line of eateries fiercely competing for Hammersmith’s lunchtime trade. The lunch choice is excellent, from sea spicy aubergine and pork with rice to mixed seafood with rice. The dishes are all wok-cooked, and you can hear the cooking and kitchen babble. Service is slick and swift – too swift in some cases! But this is superb value, tasty fresh-cooked food and an ideal hot lunch."

"Unfortunately I had a very bad experience at Fortune Restaurant. Firstly, we asked for prawn crackers whilst we browsed the menu and he said that we had to wait until we ordered. After ordering a selection of starters and main courses, our prawn crackers arrived. What a disappointment they were. They actually tasted of wood as though they had been stored in a cupboard and when we asked when were they cooked, are they fresh? The gentleman responded and told us they batch cook them in the morning and just use them throughout the day/evening. Our starters arrived and everything seemed to be ok. Only fault there would have been the long wait between finishing our starter and receiving our mains. When the mains finally arrived; sweet and sour chicken, chicken chow mein, steamed vegetable dumplings and smoked shredded chicken. The sweet and sour chicken and chow mein seemed fine. However the dumplings tasted like cardboard and had a very strange texture and the smoked shredded chicken was inedible. It was rock hard and I did not even attempt to try this. We asked the gentleman to remove them from the bill and he did however we noticed all of the food tended to go cold very quickly. After leaving the restaurant, I was not impressed and it is not somewhere I plan on returning. Shortly after arriving home, I felt unwell and actually threw up. I am certain this is after eating at the restaurant. Overall, the restaurant was dirty and very out-dated. I would not recommend to anyone!!!!!!!!! P.S IT HURT ME TO EVEN LEAVE 1 STAR"

"This place has always been expensive. We used to go here many years ago and the food always tasted top. However… this time around… it was dead. We went as 3 people. It was late, but they were open till much later. The two chefs...looked upset that we were walking in….. maybe we should not blame them, maybe they were tired etc but they both looked at all of us and were disappointed that we were walking in… We ordered quite a big selection of food; The kibbeh were nice, the hommous i liked but someone else didnt. The fattoush was horribly made that was not fattoush. Keep in mind, we are middleastern. The cocktails were nice, but i was told that they came in the wrong glass/colour of cocktail was off… The service was pretty good : We waited too long for our mains. We only ordered 2 lentil soups but they gave us 3 they looked bad, did not taste like good lebanese lentil soup. For 3, it was almost £19 something!!!!!!! My shawarma wrap and fries were good, not the salad that came with it. It looked like it was thrown onto the plate. A yogurt dish was nice. The seabass was not good, it looked unappetizing and tasted bland. Expensive… The regular mixed Shawarma meal looked very dry, thrown together, salad looked thrown together, rice looked old, everything just looked old, dry and thrown together quickly. We picked lebanese bread but we got standard pitta bread… I can’t remember what else went wrong lol. For an expensive place this stuff should be better than regular food! Also…. shock horror….. our bill came up to £130. Madness. Whats worse? THE SERVICE CHARGE ON THE BILL. £14.90 or something. WHAT?!?! The guy who counted our cash…. i counted £130 but he counted it to be £120…. argh…. hope he wasn’t lying. Should’ve done more at the time but we had enough lol. It wasn’t all bad dont get me wrong but the majority of the food was badly prepared and very dry… was not made to a good level : . I had another video of the soups but cant find it…."
