"My wife loved her sandwich, although she mentioned that it would have been easier to eat with a plate and cutlery due to the generous amount of filling - half of which ended up in the bag after she finished the sandwich. She suggested that a smaller size option would be a good idea, as the portion was quite large and could easily serve two people without skimping. The "pig in duvet," on the other hand, was a more modest size but packed with delicious flavors. It set a new standard for sausage rolls with its smoked bacon, tasty sausage meat, perfect spice level, and flaky yet stable pastry. The only improvement would be serving it warm. I was not a fan of the brownies, possibly because they were gluten-free. This was a bit disappointing after the amazing sausage roll. However, I will definitely be returning to try their coffee and stick to the savory options, as they were a hit."

"Harrogate. What can I say. People here will put up with the average and pay a lot for it too. Well, you don't have to now. Nothing mind-blowing happening here but the pizza is adequate and the price is better than anywhere else so why bother buying a big pile from Bambino's whilst fighting off the drinks when you can have a relatively civilised conversation and a pizza that doesn't taste like shoe. Well done."

"First visit, just popped in for a hot drink. Very warm welcome from Laura on entering. Nice wood burning stove pushing out heat into the bar area. Quite busy for a thursday lunchtime, everyone seemed to be eating. Food looked amazing at it came out. Coffee was very nice. Booked for New Year's Eve, can't wait. 2nd visit. Attended NYE celebrations. Food was amazing, guitarist very good. Great service atmosphere. Definitely be rebooking for 2024. 3rd visit now. Went for lunch, very busy Friday lunch. Great lunch menu new winter menu. Some lovely dishes took ages to decide. Opted for prawn crab cocktail, king prawn tempura, mains we had haddock goujons duck breast, managed pudding for one Sticky Toffee Pudding. All the food was delicious. Can't praise the chef enough. As always looked after by Laura. We will return. Thanks. 4th visit. Another faultless lunch at The Malt Shovel. Lovely returning welcome from Laura. Great choice on the menu, no rush which we enjoy. Highly recommend liver onions , also Cajun Chicken sandwich and soup combo. Both meals arrived in due course, all freshly prepared, piping hot and very, very tasty. Hats off to James in the kitchen fo once again delivering 2 lovely tasting and presented meals. All served with roast potatoes, cauliflower cheese sauce, roast carrots parsnips, kale , gravy boat of gravy yorkshire pudding. Delicious. 6th visit. Birthday celebration lunch for 4. Arrived early, it was already busy. Shown to table 6 red1), plenty of room on table and around it. Nice choice on menu, we all decided on 1 course from lunch menu. Food arrived piping hot, very tasty indeed. Highly recommend fish goujons, pie of the day, cajun chicken sandwich. Looked after once again by James in the kitchen and Laura front of house. We will definitely back, new summer menu launches 1/6/24. Can't wait to sample it. Another lovely meal and experience, all under the eagle eye of Laura. "I came here for lunch with my teenage son and baby daughter having wanted somewhere that served an inventive homemade menu with tasty healthy options as well as tempting cakes and good coffee. We were not disappointed! The roasted cauliflower salad was delicious and the...mango chutney gave it a great lift. My son devoured the Spanish chicken salad and then a Rolo brownie and most of my Cherry and Almond cake (gluten free)!! The cakes were moist, tasty and there was an impressive range, with plenty of choice even mid afternoon. Coffee was good quality and hot with a good froth! Service was friendly and welcoming and they did all they could to make us as non regulars feel at home. I seriously wish we lived nearer I’d be in all the time! We will be back. Thank you so much!"

"Fantastic find. Lovely little place that’s dog friendly too! We had a breakfast each that was really well priced! Lovely people serving and very welcoming Watch out for the add ons though! When it says add bacon or hash brown or black pudding for £1.50/60 it means just that! You get 1 piece for your money! One hash brown or 1 piece of bacon/ black pud for that price seems really steep! Stick to the main one and you’ll get a really great breakfast at a decent price!"

"the restaurant has no atmosphere. we sat on a table next to a glass door with a private party in the adjoining room. we moved table, which was blown out in addition to the air conditioning system. that was very nice to eat, but the others dinge pampered our experience. we're not going back soon."

"My Husband ordered a farmhouse breakfast but the sausages were not cooked properly, the waitress came and took the sausages ,replaced and was apologetic which we appreciated but still added service charge to bill which we thought was really poor ,especially as we had bad experience with the food. We paid the service charge but will not be returning."

"Lived is an Italian restaurant located in the center of Harrogate. It is easily recognizable with its white and orange decor that contrasts against the dark red brick exterior. Upon entering, it feels like you are on a vacation. The restaurant opened in late 2008 and offers a cheerful atmosphere with modern Mediterranean cuisine. The early bird menu is the most affordable option, offering two dishes for £8 or any pizza or pasta for £5. This deal is not available on weekends. The lasagna is priced at £8, as well as the beef cannelloni. There are also risottos available for £9.50, such as the mushroom and parmesan variety, which is very flavorful. Pizzas are priced at £7-£8, and you have the option to customize a margherita pizza by adding any ingredient for an additional 65p. This restaurant is perfect for a family outing."

"Very disappointed with this restaurant. I booked as we were in the area and the menu looked good. We skipped starters and went straight to mains, I ordered the Haddock in mustard sauce my husband opted for the Malaysian fish curry. When my dish arrived, the ill advised tower of onion rings on my fish had collapsed and they were hanging off the edge of the plate almost taking my poached egg with them. Why the chef had tried to defy gravity I don't know but I wish he'd put that effort into flavour and colour. The plate was beige and tasted the same. There was a lack of flavour in the mustard sauce and the mash. The onion rings were weird, the batter was chewy. My husband declared his Malaysian curry to be bland. We decided to have pudding, they were much better but not good enough to warrant the price. At the end of the meal it took 45 minutes to get the bill and pay. The staff were clearing plates from empty tables and seemed to have forgotten they had customers. The ambiance in the restaurant was strange when we arrived it was quiet despite plenty of customers and we felt we had to whisper, later with live music we couldn't hear each other. The decor was odd, an attempted blend of old fashioned dining with quirky additions didn't really work. My overall impression is that this restaurant is stuck in the 1980s. I don't mind paying more for exciting dishes, but all the excitement was on the menu. This meal would have been poor value at half the price."

"Went here for dinner, had been visiting Harrogate and looking for Thai food on our Friday night. We didn't have a table booked up we waited in the bar for 20 minutes and had a drink, and they managed to fit us in. This was hands down the best thai food we've had in the UK, all the dishes were fabulous. Me and my husband had Set Menu B, an amazing array of dishes. Loved the mixed starter, the massaman and pork belly were also favourites. Our friends had fish cakes for stater, and then pad thai and curry for main, also all great. Staff were really attentive and nice without being overbearing. And the food is great value for money too, with massive portions. We will definitely be going back when we're next in Harrogate."

"We had heard good reviews and so were looking forward to dining at Konak but unfortunately my expectations were not met. We arrived to find that there were dining rooms at Konak but there was only one open and felt very like we were dining in our front room, tables were cramped together and we were asked to give the server our coats as so we would not take too much room, decor was like an old fashioned tea room with doilies on the table and when the plates, salt and pepper and candle were on the table there was room for nothing else, and tables were so close together we could easily listen to the next tables conversation. I felt so uncomfortable I really could have and prefer that we had left and went else where without even giving it a try but as we wanted to give it a try we stayed all be it uncomfortable. I chose the Turkish sausages which when they arrived looked like it was one large sausage pre made and sliced into not traditional sausages that I thought it would have been it was not very hot nor tasty nor spicy and for main ordered the lamb meatballs. Because this dish was made and cooked to order there was at leAst a minute wait following the starter and was so hot that it had just came out of the oven that as the table was so small was fairly dangerous to sit with in front of me all I wanted to do was get it eaten and get out. Unfortunately it was not an option to eat fast and get out as it was so hot and so we ended up arguing over the dishes, left most of the main and paid and left. In hind sight I should have gone with first impressions and left the restaurant when they seated me on another couples knees at the start ! I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an up to date modern style Turkish meal but perhaps for someone looking for an at homely feel very traditional Turkish meal."

"Without a booking, the restaurant was able to offer us a walk-in table on a Saturday night. That was impressive. We had been told about The Tannin Level by friends who praised it highly. We were not disappointed. Our starters (scallops for me and black pudding for she) were delicious. For mains, I had slow cooked lamb which was superb and Pat raved about her Trio of Pork (oddly named, because it was actually a Duo). Accompanied by very nice Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir from the “by the glass” selection. No room left for desserts so we just finished with coffee. We will be back."

"I have eaten at Quantro several times now and found the food to be very good. It's imaginative and the menu changes frequently. The early bird menu is particularly good value, however the A la Carte isn't that much more expensive. The first few visits we had a problem with a surly waitress. We put it down to many things, inexperienced, lack of confidence, etc. and carried on visiting regardless. We were served by the same waitress on our recent visit and were very pleasantly surprised. She welcomed us warmly, was all smiles and couldn't do enough for us. 10 out of 10!"

"Food was very good, good reputation, well deserved. However, we didn't eat until over an hour after we arrived. That is because it was 40 minutes until anyone took our main order. It's was not a busy night, plenty of empty tables. We were walked past at least 7 or 8 times and had to flag someone down in the end. I asked what the waitress recommended, and she wasn't able to recommend anything... She said it's a new menu so you let us know what's good.... Management, please train your front of house on your menu. Get your waiting staff passionate about your clearly great food. I had to ask another waiter and he was very shy about talking about the menu as well but at least he did give a recommendation after I pressed him further. In conclusion, it's a great place, great food, let down by service."

"Chap serving particularly rude. Entered the shop to a very unwelcoming server. Shaking his head at me after I asked him how he was. We ordered a panini and his response was “it’s going to take 10 mins” (as if he didn’t want to make it) we were fine with waiting, that not an issue to get a fresh sandwich. We also order a coffee, our request was met with further grimace. We decided to leave as our business clearly wasn’t welcome. Very odd behaviour, perhaps we caught him in a bad day. We certainly won’t be returning"

"Booked afternoon tea for me and a friend after looking at several excellent trip advisor reviews (I should have read more! . We paid £32.95 each plus £8.95 each for small bottle (one glass size of Prosecco We thought from the menu that we would get a variety of sandwiches but only got a choice of 1 each (2 fillings had a supplementary charge . When the food arrived we were soooo disappointed. The sandwiches were incredibly ordinary. No fancy bread or cut nicely. The ‘home made’ cakes on top were visually boring. A couple of fairy cakes with watery icing and 2 pieces of very small millionaires shortbread that looked ‘old’. The scones however looked and tasted lovely. And 2 teacups with very small portions of Eton mess were also nice. There was absolutely NOTHING special that warranted such a huge price! Nothing at all. We asked for the cakes to be boxed up and we ate them on our train journey home. The fairy cake was just ok and the millionaires shortbread did indeed taste old. On the way back to the train station we called at another place (Mama Doreen’s emporium for a drink and the afternoon teas that they were serving were incredible. We found out they were £25 each ! I don’t believe in posting a bad review on here without making the place aware first. I’ve sent them a message but had no reply. Hence I have no qualms posting this review."

"I was hesitant at first about dining at a restaurant with the word "farm" in its name, but since there are limited options for vegan breakfast in Harrogate, I decided to give it a chance. The café was charming and cozy, and the food was outstanding. I ordered the vegan breakfast, which came with a tasty homemade vegan sausage, sautéed mushrooms, tomatoes, homemade baked beans, crispy kale, and sourdough bread. The menu also had a few other clearly labeled vegan options available."

"when we were shopping next door, but recently in another Turkish restaurant, I was intrigued to try more and here was my chance! must say was not disappointed, really good eating in beautiful environment and great service. we had the hot mixed mezze for two as starter, then I had the lamb iksender and wife f had what she said was the best psychic she had ever had. I also tried and it was! we finished with baklava and coffee, a cappuccino for them and what else a Turkish one for me. we have ejected the boot and felt good and really filled after it, but it is worth trying a wider selection of Turkish cuisine! will definitely reappear when in harrogate."

"service the service was mixed: the woman who took our beverage order looked like she had more important things with which she could proceed. However, a man came by and spent a good 5-10 minutes walking through the menu, explain all the options and said they were ready to offer everyone: nothing would be too much annoyed. this improved the experience and after that, the woman returned and seemed much happier to deal with us. besides the first quibble, the service was very good. food that was excellent. I went for a selection of 3 mini burgers who were very nice. all the others on the table also enjoyed their dishes (the ribs were particularly delicious. the prices were not too bad, but my miniburgers cost more than 1 big burgers that would have been good, but the minis were mini! I would bite-size say so that I wish they had been a little bigger than I felt at the end still hungry. I liked the idea to try 3 mini-burgers, but now I know the sizes, I would recommend going for a favorite bigger burger. if everything else fails, they could try their HUGE stackburgers. while I didn't see you coming out of the kitchen, they sounded impressive! atmosphere the only thing that really left this place. it was relatiw calm (probably because it is largely based on recommendations, because it is not close to the city center and so they would not stumble without knowing its existence! the worst part was the music. the restaurant seems to have a strange fascination with elvis presley to play his borrower on the loop. I'm not sure if they do this all the time, but it makes me think again, I'd have to sit three times through elvis's biggest hits. overall the restaurant is very pleasant and I would recommend that everyone there is one going. if they love burgers, there is something for them; but even if they don't, there are many pizzas and other great choices to choose."
