"After repeated attempts to make a reservation by phone have failed, we simply drove and hoped to get a place. the very friendly and attentive service asked us to take a small table place until the next table becomes free. until then we have abandoned our order and could enjoy our food after a short time. the peeled jumbos on cream pudderlings we have been as an appetizer and were simply enthusiastic about the good taste. the main dish (small noodles with blatspinate and gorgonzola) were tastefully perfect and were served hot in the preheated dish. a beautiful pfälzer wein as a companion rounded off the eating accordingly. the biggest hit was dessert. a freshly made chocolate cake with hot chocolate filling, vanilla sauce and a fruit variation, served on a sloping plate was the absolute high point of our dinner. through the beautiful ambiente, the extremely friendly service and the moderate trips it was a very nice and pleasant evening overall. we like to come back."

"We ate at this restaurant during a weeklong stay in Herford, visiting our daughter who lived there at the time. It was a birthday celebration for my wife and we walked to the restaurant, located just off the inner ring road in central Herford. Blessed...with a warm, sunny evening, we opted to sit outside; the restaurant was pretty dead on a Wednesday evening and I think there may only have been another three or four tables occupied during the evening. The Alte Schule is quiet pricey compared to most of the other restaurants located in Herford so not sure if that had anything to do with it. We had a glass of Prosecco each while we pondered the menu and then a bottle of Primitivo from Puglia to share, together with bottle water, pricey enough at Euro 6 per bottle though the wine was very reasonable at under Euro 20. For starters I had Crunchy Quail Lasagne with shitake mushrooms and mango chutney while my had Apple onion, veal liver ravioli with sauce and nuts while my wife had Baked Mozzarella in a herb crust with linguine in a ricotta peppercorn sauce. For mains, I had, while my wife had Surf and Turf with Orzo pasta though strangely the steak was braised, which is unusual for a Surf and Turf. My daughter had Bouillabaisse Risotto with Monk Fish. I had the dessert selection and my daughter had the cheese board, both of which were just okay, perhaps a little disappointing. The bill came to Euro 155.50 before the tip. We had a pleasant evening with good service and would most likely return if in Heford again."

"I rarely give five stars. But here they are justified for eating goose. We were invited to goose dinner. The table was festively set for 18 people. Starter: Very tasty field salad with walnuts and great salad dressing. Main course: Goose breast and legs with red cabbage, Brussels sprouts and dumplings. The plates with the meat were not empty, the quantity could not be managed. More than three parts were planned for each. Supplements were added later. The meat was tender and juicy. Dessert: baked apple pudding Conclusion: Not exactly cheap but tastes absolutely great. Service was quick, friendly and accommodating. Conclusion: We will visit this restaurant at another time."

"I was there with a slemmerblock and had to pay only 5,10 euro for a court (10,20 euro). I didn't really like eating because there was hardly any meat. I had to eat the rice quite dry. In the midday time, the local lot is visited by students of a nearby school, because the out-house feeds are inexpensive.The personal was friendly.The restaurant is located on the Salzufler street. through current construction work, which also lasts in 2017, this road is usually only one-track accessible. the local is difficult to reach until the construction work is completed."

Child friendliness is unmatched, our children were 6 and 10 years old at our first visit. In the 9 years where we have visited the restaurant again and again, we have always experienced delicious food and a friendly atmosphere and never had the experience that you did not respond to the wishes of the customer. Even though we are regular customers now, I can only say that we were hosted with the same kindness during our first visit. It is probably not possible to talk about child unfriendly, because we came as a German/British family with another British family with a total of 4 children aged 4-10 years. We were treated as we know that of Greeks (the children are satisfied, they are the parents too!!! . Since we lived one year in Cyprus, we had plenty of opportunity to get to know the Greek mentality. So Comprehensive: Food Super, Cosiness Super, Friendlyness of Staff fantastic."

"New concept: condemned to failure! We were back in the Nile, as the buffet always enjoyed us very well. But we were very disappointed. The buffet many will know it was always built in U form. Appetizers on the right main dishes and on the small counter Dessert. Now the buffet begins only at the heels of the long counters and begins there with dessert. I would say that the selection has been reduced by 50 60%. There are no more leaf salads, no Vitello Tonnato, no longer the tasty pommes (nun are quite normal frits that were very fat), fewer meat types, no tiramisu etc.....signments are wrong or missing partially, empty foods are unfortunately often not filled up by themselves. Food was mostly KALT!!! The demand for staff has shown that there is a new lead that is of the opinion of halving the selection and keeping prices (or increasing Saturday afternoon from 8.90 to 17.90). Does it make sense? The shop is getting empty...people, that's not gonna be...some other guests were very dissatisfied. The staff said that numerous complaints have already been passed on, but the management cannot accept it. Well, if the customer opinion doesn't count here, you must live without guests. Good luck! It makes no sense to prepare a huge buffet for 10 guests, half will be thrown away. But watch that place is full! The buffet is also worth it at better conditions! PS: Why a star? Because the staff was friendly and understood."

"Here the baptism of my godchild was celebrated. We were in a beautiful room and the table was lovingly covered. It was even room for the many children to play. "I have been here more often and I have always liked it, delicious food, very nice and attentive staff as well as a very friendly boss who cares about everything. When I came with a friend last night, we were greeted nicely and the boss offered us a place. A waiter I've never seen before and therefore considered new, has not really welcomed us, given us the cards relatively late and he has forgotten the drinks he ordered. I didn't think it was so tragic. We were basically there to eat a little bite, there were no snacks, so I chose a mini burger of the children's courts, for which the waiter suddenly encouraged me that they were only for children and otherwise everyone here could order a children's dish.
