"The best placed restaurant in Herford, over looking the city and in super surroundings. The food is excellent, but the service is awful once you have ordered the food comes at a nice gentle pace that allows you to enjoy it, but up front be prepared...to wait 10mins at your table before you even get a drink, and trying to pay the bill at the end is arduous (we have eaten there several times and normally have to go up to the bar to pay). Great steaks!"

The Steinmeyer is s great place to stop for a coffee after a walk in the woods. It offers a beautiful view over Herford. Great place for dinners to.

Great location overlooking Herford but we've been here three times now and the service has always been really slow. Quick to take your order, average to deliver, terrible when it comes to ordering another drink or trying to pay the bill!

Went here for a wedding. The food and atmosphere was so good that my fiancé and I decided to have our own wedding here. The staff have been nothing but helpful and accommodating every step of the way. The view is amazing, the halls are...beautiful, and the food... the food is fantastic.

we have often been with steinmeyer, both for dinner and for family celebrations and weddings. eating is great, the view of herford is awesome (the restaurant is on a hill above the city) and the owners are very nice. I can definitely recommend the restaurant for those who are in the opposite.

it is located above the city of Herford, at the forrest. from there they have an excellent prospect. you can sit outside or inside. the interieur is very beautifully decorated. eating is offered various seasonal meals, with vegetarian dishes. the drink list ranges from whine to beer to cocktails. the service is polite. the price is higher but reasonable. recommandation!

"and believe me, I've tried a few - to eat and to take. the place is perhaps not their first choice from outside, as there is a well running (hopefully)! delivery service that serves as input, but the restaurant page is simple, but nice. the owners and the service are all very friendly and the food is ... well, as said: best pizza of the city! in the delivery I have tried a few others, but never get a better pizza - and they are also fast. absolute recommendation!"

"Super niedliches, feines ,rustikales Weinstübchen.: Das Essen der Wein war sehr lecker, die Atmosphäre war sehr nett ,alle Mitarbeiter waren super freundlich und sehr zuvorkommend. Das Lokal ist mit viel Liebe gestaltet und auch die Speisen werden liebevoll zubereitet. Die Preise sind total in Ordnung. Definitive Empfehlung, einfach top! Super cute, fine, rustic wine tavern. : The food wine was delicious, the atmosphere was very nice, all the employees were super friendly and very accommodating. The restaurant is designed with love and the food is also lovingly prepared. The prices are totally fine. Definite recommendation, just great!"

"We ate at this restaurant during a weeklong stay in Herford, visiting our daughter who lived there at the time. It was a birthday celebration for my wife and we walked to the restaurant, located just off the inner ring road in central Herford. Blessed...with a warm, sunny evening, we opted to sit outside; the restaurant was pretty dead on a Wednesday evening and I think there may only have been another three or four tables occupied during the evening. The Alte Schule is quiet pricey compared to most of the other restaurants located in Herford so not sure if that had anything to do with it. We had a glass of Prosecco each while we pondered the menu and then a bottle of Primitivo from Puglia to share, together with bottle water, pricey enough at Euro 6 per bottle though the wine was very reasonable at under Euro 20. For starters I had Crunchy Quail Lasagne with shitake mushrooms and mango chutney while my had Apple onion, veal liver ravioli with sauce and nuts while my wife had Baked Mozzarella in a herb crust with linguine in a ricotta peppercorn sauce. For mains, I had, while my wife had Surf and Turf with Orzo pasta though strangely the steak was braised, which is unusual for a Surf and Turf. My daughter had Bouillabaisse Risotto with Monk Fish. I had the dessert selection and my daughter had the cheese board, both of which were just okay, perhaps a little disappointing. The bill came to Euro 155.50 before the tip. We had a pleasant evening with good service and would most likely return if in Heford again."

"Very nice restaurant in Elsbachhaus in Herford. The service team is very dedicated and friendly. The owner is very motivated and tries to read the wishes of the guests from the eyes. The ambience speaks for itself, modern and open. The dishes are first-class and made with love. It was a very nice afternoon/night in the restaurant Elsbach. Thank you."

"Having spent a week in Germany we were setting off back to the ferry but needed a final taste of Germany, and nothing says that better than Shalk in Herford. It offers a range of takeaway food from the classic bratwurst through to snitzels or...even roast chicken. Takeaway or sit in in the small restaurant either way you won't be disappointed. I is an essential part of my German experience."
