"I and my friend came for the day after isle of wight, spent most day driving around as it was our first time on the island, we were very exhausted and drained and we just drove to the next pub the next. it was amazing! it made our day so much better, I ordered the Bugle Inn Batger with Cheesy chips and my friend ordered steak I can't stop saying my friends family how nice it was eating! the service was good and fast. not sure if I returned in, because next time we would go to the island where we would otherwise go for the day! but if I do, come back!"

"very busy, even if COVID restrictions were present, we waited a short time for a table and were quite close to the Stables area with a live band, so it was very loud and gay, but we were happy with it! interesting menu, but felt...a bit rushed as you said the kitchen closed at 9 o'clock, but the staff could not have been more helpful. I had laughs with garnel, very tasty. the cake and the chips of my friend looked a bit stony, but maybe what they would want after a hard sailing day! Maltese cake with salt caramel ice cream was heavenly! do not come here on a Friday evening to a quiet romantic dinner. it is full of loud, hectic and hyperactiw, but we really enjoyed it."

"Went here on mother's day, had very good meal so I booked a table for 2 for my girlfriends birthday. We got in, sat down ordered drinks and meal steak platter for 2 was in formed there is no chicken wings so they was gonna put some extra pork on platter but that never happened ether. Ordered another drink and barman had to run to shop to get vodka. We had a wait for that then the platter came out waitress put ours and another table at same time asked for mustard waitress went to shop for that as well. we still had not got chips or onion rings at this stage, so we asked for them by this time 8mins after main had been on table then was told there's no onion rings so we had enough we got up and walked out."

"Booked this place whilst holidaying on the island. It's a bit off the beaten track,but set in a beautiful location. When we arrived, we were seated straight away, bearing in mind we were a tad early. Service was very prompt. The food wasn't piping hot but very nice all the same. It's a little bit pricey, but as I said, it was nice. Toilet facilities must have been the cleanest and most poshist public house toilets I have ever used. All in all, it is a great location, lovely food and excellent service."

"Restaurant is very cold if you go in winter don't. They try to put the heating on. That don't work, you still there with with coats on, food is standard look warm set it back and complained, chef was more interested in takeaways then a sit in customer. Avoid I would unless you want to freeze. The waiter we are saving by not putting the heating on. I know we are all in hard times. But customer service is key. Please avoid if you want the big chill."

"Have visited a number of times now with family and friends. Excellent food again. We had a selection of tapas including calamari, croquettes, garlic prawns, pork belly and bacon and feta salad followed by lamp chops and fries. Some of the party has desserts including crème brûlée and deconstructed cheesecake. Everything was cooked beautifully and served in a timely manner. We sat outside at the back and although it was evening time, due to the shelter we were comfortable and warm enough. Can’t recommend highly enough."

"Gorgeous location but relying on it and attitude of staff particularly the chefs and food standards are poor in comparison to the view. We were told to order our food as soon as we sat down because the chefs wanted to finish early. Food wasn't great fish overcooked and had clearly been sat under the heater, pasta soggy and burger very bog standard. The food had obviously been precooked and left so the chefs could get away! Quite a feat to cook fish that is both soggy yet dry at the same time! Dessert was delicious but overall the whole meal was average and overpriced £170 for 2 adults and 2 children. New restaurant opening on the pier so the chefs will have to up their game as the current standard of food won't be enough to stand up to any competition! Waiting staff were lovely! I felt sorry for them with the arrogant poor quality chefs in the background making demands whilst producing mediocre food!"

"Turned up last minute to see if we could get a table, very helpful, even though they were fully booked we were give a table for 2 hours max before the booked table was occupied. We had more than enough time to eat and chat. The food was amazing and the staff were too. Will prebook next time."

"We visited the gardens yesterday and decided to have a much needed lunch at the Edulis restaurant. The restaurant itself is pleasantly presented and in a lovely setting. However after sitting down we noticed the crockery and glasses were marked/dirty and perhaps we should have taken this as a hint of what was to come. Three of us ordered the soup and the other a sandwich which came with wedges. After ordering, paying and sitting down, a good 5 mins or so later we were subsequently told that actually there was no soup available and they shouldn’t have processed our order. We ordered sandwiches instead and weren’t charged for the small extra cost. Our sandwiches arrived minus the advertised wedges. The waiter said nothing and was about to walk away when we queried the absence of the wedges. He responded that there were none available and they had been substituted with crisps. A few measly crisps and a rather bland cheese and tomato sandwich I have to say. We vowed not to return, but just when we thought it couldn’t get any worse a large tray of potatoes was brought in from the kitchen and one of the servers proceeded to start chopping them up in front of us presumably to make wedges!! The toilets were smelly and not very pleasant and we noticed the glazing in the lobby areas was absolutely filthy. A very disappointing experience that we will not be repeating. Such a shame as this could be a lovely restaurant if someone actually bothered to care and respect their customers. Instead it appears to be a complete shambles where custom is taken for granted as they effectively have a captive audience. Next time we’ll be taking our own sandwiches and finding a nice place to sit in the gardens. I’m local so will be spreading the word. Simply not good enough!!!"

"This was our first visit to Pilot Boat and it certainly won’t be our last we booked with booking.com but would suggest booking direct. We had 2 rooms 1 with king size bed and 1 with Twin beds ,the king size bedroom was a nice size and very clean we had a small fridge and loads of tea and coffee in the room although the twin room was again very clean it was a little smaller but still ok. There is some noise from the main road and the windows would have been better if double glazed. We all had a good sleep the beds were really comfortable the breakfast was nice Continental but was really nice and plenty of it this is where we met the owner George he was very friendly and would like to enforce he was the owner but this was ok he greeted every person each time they came down to breakfast. This place has its own micro brewery and all the beers were really nice I did try all of them and really enjoyed them,the only issue we had was food on the evening as the pilot board does not do evening meals although it has teamed up with a pizza company and they looked nice and smelt nice but one person from our friends did not like pizza, George the owner is looking into a menu for future ,we had to go up to Bembridge villiage for evening food but it was only .2 miles away within walking distance and can recommend the Villiage inn . I would highly recommend the Pilot Boat for staying and beers"

"We came a couple of times for breakfast during our short trip to the Isle of Wight as our hotel did not do breakfast and the options in Ryde seemed limited. We came early (around 09.00am) and found that when we arrived both times we were one of the first ones there. The food both times was very good, with large portions. I loved the sausages. Small children not that keen but probably because they are fresh and not over cooked, so children are more used to processed food. The children loved the rest of the breakfast, hence the second visit. It did take a while for food to come (maybe half an hour each time) , so I can see if you came later you would have a longer wait as per the other reviews. It is though a farm establishment, so I think you have to take that into consideration and come here if you are flexible on time. Kid loved the calves that can be petted outside the cafe. Service the first time was a little binary. We had a fussy eater and wanted tp vary the option and that didn't seem to go down too well. Second time, different waitress, and no bother and we didn't feel like we were being a pain (even if we were). A good find, and by far the best option in the area"

"Tired looking pub...the lady on the bar was rude no customer service skills at all...felt like an episode of Fawlty Towers. Asked for a menu said you get them yourself as she pointed to them next to her. When ordering food no manners never once said thank you/enjoy just no communication skills. After reading the reviews of the poor quality of meat we didn 't dare order anything that could potentially give us food poisoning and spoil our holiday. I ordered a jacket potato as I thought you can 't get that wrong...I was wrong...still hard in the middle ...The soft play however was perfect for our children and passed the time before our holiday home was ready for us to check in. If you go don 't have high expectations then you won 't be disappointed."

"We were staying just outside Shorwell and The Crown came highly recommended. We could see why as soon as we walked through the door. The staff were welcoming and friendly from the moment we walked through the door, so much so, having just popped in for some liquid refreshment, we decided to book for dinner the following evening. The same greeting was waiting when we arrived. Pub food perfectly cooked. The portions were more than generous. The manager who served us was extremely friendly and proud of the establishment he runs, as testified by it being a focus for the surrounding community. Would definitely eat there again."

"Spent over £30 in here before getting ferry home chips were awfully what ever there cooked in is not nice at all.i had the lasanhe love to know where the meat was as there was more.pasta and cheese tham meat the salad wasn't fresh very disappointed for the price.of it remind me never to go again didn't wnsy kick up fuss about it so just left the food the pizza seemed okay rest of it not chance I make.a better lasanage them what they serve for the price you would expect better"

"The food was okay, but the service was very very poor, we had asked for a glass of water when we started to eat, and we have reminded them a few times but not got the water until we finished eating the food, and we had to wait two hours for our food when we ordered a small amount. Restaurant has to appoint extra staff to meet the customers needs in busy times, no point to tell the customers we are only 2 staffs to serve here, NOT GOOD SERVICE AT ALL. -the food curry was very sweet , compared to the quality of the food was very expensive."

"A super little olde world cafe with a huge menu selection. They also have an extensive children's menu. Everything covered from a mean breakie to roast dinners, they even do jelly and icecream (which takes you back to to childhood birthday parties). You can get tea and scones at any time of the day. If you think school dinners then this is about the mark. Portions are plentiful and the hot choc drink is delicious. It is situated on the seafront so good views out to sea. Toilets are upstairs. Staff are friendly and helpful."
