"We have been to The Huntsman many times for meals, with family, friends and for special celebrations. Sadly and very disappointingly the food served has got much poorer over our last 3 or 4 visits. Prices have increased understandably, but cutting corners on the quality, quantity and presentation of meals is unacceptable. Piling high a roast dinner with a huge Yorkshire pudding balanced on the top, on a far too small a plate does not make the meal look a decent or bigger size, it just spoiled the whole meal experience! It was a fight to actually find the meat, veg and roast potatoes under the ridiculously over sized Yorkshire pudding without spilling half the food onto the table! Bottomless gravy?? We had to ask for it, and nothing asked for throughout the evening arrived in a timely fashion. Busy yes we realise that, but maybe you should actually not book as many people in at the same time if you can't cope with providing a decent service? The turkey was nice but the roast beef was virtually uneatable and even had to ask for a steak knife to cut it! Then to top it off the desserts are outrageously priced for the portion received, which arrived just plonked on a large plate with complete disregard to presentation. I'm sorry to say as this now appears to be the normal standard offered there are plenty of alternatives nearby. On the positive side we have always found all staff polite and friendly, and the place is well kept and clean. What should have been a pleasant evening out, ended up being a very disappointing experience."

"My Email to Coffee Boy. Good Afternoon. I am making a complaint about the service that i have received from your Huddersfield Coffee Boy shop; the circumstances are as follows: Approximately, 15:45 hours today, i attended and ordered a white mocha and a cappocino and made payment with a card. The staff member was a lady. We took a seat and awaited our drinks. Having waited for 15 minutes, i approached the counter to enquire why our drinks had not been served. There were 5 lady staff members present and having observed the coffee machine i realised that there were no drinks being prepared. I said to one of the lady staff member, ‘I ordered 2 drinks 15 minutes ago, but have not received them’ She responded, ‘Did you order them on the App?’ I stated, ‘No, i ordered them here at the counter’ The staff member then approached her 4 colleagues, one of whom informed her that she had taken my order. At this point, the staff member said, ‘It will only take 2 minutes’ I replied, ‘I have already waited 15 minutes, and had i not approached you, i would still be waiting, i do not want the drinks as i have commitments, and wish a refund.’ The staff member proceeded to check the tablet where the transactions are registered and stated the refund had been issued. I asked for a receipt as proof of the refund, but she stated a receipt could not be provided. My complaint is not only that my order had not been served, it is also that had i not approached the counter, we would have continued to wait. Additonally, no apology was offered, which is unacceptable and a receipt has not been offered as proof of a refund, which means that i will need to check my bank statement to ensure the refund has been issued. All of the above, is a lot of hassle for 2 drinks at a coffee shop! I await your response."

"When we popped into the cafe it was very quiet aside from one person, we were the only ones inside and there were just a couple of people outside. We got a nice welcome, shown to a table and our order taken fairly quickly. We had to ask for a choice of bread for the sandwich and made a point of asking for no butter or marg. I watched our server getting our cold drinks ready, taking time to swap the glasses for cleaner ones and really wiping both, which was reassuring to see and suggested we were going to get great service. I heard the squirt from the bar so knew my diet coke wasn't from a bottle and it tasted more like soda than coke. But hey, sometimes it happens if the concentrate is running low. After waiting almost half an hour for a ploughman's sandwich and chicken tikka masala panini, they finally arrived. We'd to ask for cutlery and that was swiftly brought, then we found the sandwich had been buttered and oddly my panini was a layer of masala sauce and plain chicken. Not quite what I expected. And although we had freshly cut side salads with both it was hard to see why it had taken so long for the food to arrive. We didn't get the opportunity to send the sandwich back for an unbuttered one as no one came back to check we were happy with our food and after waiting so long (and the sandwich being rather uninspiring) were hungry enough to lump it. And after I watched another staff member preparing two more cokes and seeing a small plastic bottle of cola being emptied and the two glasses being topped up with squirts of soda I knew why my drink didn't taste right. We decided against ordering any of the nice looking desserts on principle and again, weren't asked if we'd enjoyed our meal. I can see why the cafe was so quiet and these are very simple things they could improve to give a much better experience but we won't be going back."
