"The winter is sunny and warm this year (until now). It doesn't always have to be a Christmas market. Visit acquaintance and then go to the Rhine on site. And fresh air, as it is known, makes appetite – so control a restaurant for an afternoon break. The inn is very close to the ferry station to Leverkusen. The place was right for us. The offer is wide: restaurant, bistro, bar, cafe, ice cream parlour. The self-explanatory statement is: “Italian and German dishes in the modern restaurant with window front and veranda overlooking the Rhine.” Important for drivers: Own parking directly next to the road with a chain separated. Ambient 4* The house appears very large at first glance. We haven't looked around everywhere, but only looked at the area that was close to our seats. We noticed: stylish Christmas decoration, a large screen with campfire, relatively many tables, cozy light as lighting, a large window front towards the Rhine. The room seemed like a big bistro: tables made of dark wood, mostly two places. We sat near the bar or the vault. Cleanliness 4* Nothing occurred, seemed well maintained. Sanitary 4* The toilet complex is located in the basement. There is also a winding room and a disabled toilet. So there should be an elevator, but we took the stairs. The toilets have enough room to move. The area with the sink is spacious. The hand dryers and the hand disinfectors are noteworthy. Dyson Airblade Dryers blow your hands dry in about seven seconds. This is exemplary in my eyes. Service 3* After entering the restaurant, we were offered a table that was in the middle. We asked if we could sit on the window front. This was negated, because there were places for larger groups – several tables were already reserved and provided with boxes. But the table next to the counter was fine for us too. Various waiters took care of the guests. We had contact with three forces – there are no fixed areas. All were friendly and correct but not very fast. The map(s): Offers for the whole day: Breakfast; snacks, appetizers, salads, pasta, pizza, oven dishes, pork, beef, turkey, fish, dessert, ice cream, waffles; Drinks. That was quite extensive. The waffle card is ready on every table that also calls the ice dishes. There is also an outhouse map: This folding card is also available as a separate card (with slightly reduced prices on ice for example – but the other dishes seem to be the same. It was already later afternoon and slowly began twilight, but the Rhine was still good to see. We just wanted to take a little bit. On the table was the waffle card. She had almost 10 variations – that was enough for us. We chose: once waffle cherry without cream 4,00 € and a hot cocoa 2,80 € and once vanilla wafer with cream and ice 5,00 € and also cocoa. All waffles are Belgian models. The thick squares you know. This ground waffle with deep pattern is then served with different ingredients. The literature distinguishes two types of Belgian waffles: Brussels waffles and Liège waffles. Brussels waffles consist of a soft edig, while the Liège waffles are described as thick, sugar-sweet and butter-triefing. In Liège waffles, hail sugar is added to the dough. Both types of waffle are hotly consumed. Brussels models are produced according to this description. In flour eggs dough is probably always used vanilla. They were both soft and “just normal” in taste. We couldn't notice our own handwriting. They tasted neatly 3* therefore. With the cherries we couldn't remember something special. Probably from the “glass” brand “shadow moral”. I would also like to call the taste “normal”: they were hot and I did not notice any special spices – 3* also. The vanilla ice cream appeared to us to be a neat factory ice – it had no special creaminess or looseness as we know it from self-made ice – 3* are good. We found it honestly to call the hot drink “Kakao” on the map – often we find locals who call their product “chocolate” and only process powder. The cocoa was fine and had cream besides milk. He was really delicious for us. We would drink him again 3.5*. We wouldn't try the waffles in a new visit anymore. The ice used did not make hunger for other varieties. But the map has many other positions. The hot dishes for lunch or dinner table are on the market at first glance: Pizza Margherita 7,50€ as entry and 13 Euro for salmon, noodles from 8.00 to 12.00 Euro. A sausage costs 4.90 € with Pommes 6.90 €. Schnitzel Wiener Art is available for 13 Euronen. Price performance ratio 3* The prices are fine not bargains, but also not awfully high. Conclusion 3 – if it results. You sit well, you can talk well, meet with friends, recover something and eat a little bite or drink – they don't have to be those waffles again. (1 – certainly not again, 2 – hardly again, 3 – if it results again, 4 – happy again, 5 – absolutely again – after “Kuechenreise” Date of visit: 22.12.2015 – two people – after the afternoon – from the Cafe area"
