"On the face of it, ``refined German cuisine'', might seem a contradiction; but in this case I think the description is apt. The menu on arrival bore no resemblance to the one online, but we were cheerfully guided through a translation of the new menu. The waiter/owner also owned the wine shop over the road and gave expert advice on wines since again the online wein karte is all wrong. On his advise we chose and excellent Alsatian gerwürtztraminer and a pinot. The former was absolutely superb, and I had some mixed feelings about the latter, which was a wee bit young. We were all given an amuse bouche to start which was quite delightful, some bread and dip. The entree's were excellent, with the mushroom salad skillfully done and day special of prawn ceviche quite delicate, and delicious. All of the mains were of very high quality. My wife loved her rabbit, my friends had a beautiful looking veal and spargel combination with a refined white sauce (quite different than the usual ones) and a classical lamb/lentil combination, and I had a really interesting pork dish from Spanish pork which had been fed on acorns (I think he said and what the menu seemed to say with my appalling German) and tasted like beef accordingly. Likewise all the deserts were elegant and delicious, and my cheese platter was excellent especially when combined with a suggested glass of auslese riesling. My friends thought this was the best food they have had on the Europe travels for the last month. The price is not cheap but not at Michelin prices. The ingredients are all sourced from individual farms, and much of it local. The setting (Ladenburg) is very nice, with a short walk around the old town a must before you dine. You can book a table outside on the street if you desire. We went on a Wednesday night on the 1st of June, and it was rather busy, so booking would be highly advised. I was impressed and will go again."

"Location /General The Römerstadt Ladenburg is situated idyllicly on the Neckar. It enchants with its restored medieval old town and traces of its Roman history. The marketplace with the predominantly Italian gastronomy invites visitors to stay. Here we also find the guest house Goldener Hirsch. Ambiente The golden deer is one of the oldest buildings in Ladenburg. It was mentioned for the first time in 1587 as a host house in the Chronicles and is still operated as a restaurant. Outside, different handwritten boards point to the daily offers. Inside is the small hallway area (odourily not just inviting here lives vmtl. the dog of the house, but we continue to trust and are surprised by a mahogany space but inviting with bare tables and chairs. Cosy and above all warmer is the small side room, tiled by a round arch to reach. Here is a great old decoration piano from the Art Nouveau period. Changed with a large bed top, everything looks like a big powerful shrine that takes a complete wall side. Also the rest of the room and the wall paneling are antique and fit into the same century. Countless pictures on the walls were mixed randomly. Renovated and modernized have been no longer here. The toilet above the yard is very refreshing for the season and the cold water recharges and accelerates the processes. Service The black dressed lady of the house bears responsibility for everything. Both the service, the range and the most important part of the kitchen are available. With broken accent is kindly asked, drinks are recommended and attentively watched the tables and reacts appropriately. Eating The menu is a bit cuddly, but we already had extensive information outside. As an appetizer we chose the Mexican Pepper soup (4.50 €). With minced meat, fresh pepper and fresh chilli. Excellent picantly tasted, the tabasco or the pepper and salt shakers were not required. The baguette was still lukewarm. Continued with Chili con carne with beef chopped meat and fresh baguette (5.50€). Again very well seasoned, served in a deep Biolek plate, the plentiful portion was hardly to be created. The second dish was a pair of coarse sausages with sauerkraut and roast potatoes (8,60 €). The roast potatoes made their name all honor. The third dish was Swabian muzzles with roasted onions on salad (8,20€). Here is also a nice portion of well-filled and baked mouthbags in the pan. There was nothing to expose at all courts and the special Heidelberg amber-coloured Christmas beer (3,80€ rounded off everything. What irritated us is a constant typical microwave ngong that did not fit the tastefully perfect dishes. If hot water is made with the microwave, this should be right to us. Conclusion: A renovation should be considered, but the food can remain."

"The Pizzeria – Grill – Restaurant Cave is centrally located within the old town of Ladenburg. Ladenburg itself is the oldest right-wing Rhine city in Germany, in 1998 the city celebrated its 1900th anniversary. In addition to old and restored houses, you will also find excavations from the shop-burger Römerzeit. The Cave is now completely located in the rooms of the former, small, shop-burger market hall, there are not own parking spaces, either you try your luck in the surrounding old town streets or on a car park surrounding the old town. A short walk through the old town of Ladenburg, however, definitely has its charm. You enter the cave through the large door of the former market hall, right hand the former premises of the local national newspaper as a smoker ? gastraum, also on the right side you go to the currently unwashed vault cellar. On the left side two large tables that offer space for at least eight, non-cold, wind-sensitive persons. In the large rear area of the cave there is the right hand the counter with the kitchen behind it and left the actual guest room. The guest room receives a white floor flow, red and cream paint painted walls and a white suspended ceiling. The tables made of dark wood with a red and white carded tablecloth and a white overcrowd, a small soft night star and red candle covered, the chairs covered with black artificial leather, the benches on the walls with the same material in white. On the walls mirrors with golden frames, dark wood shelves with wine bottles no, no empty dust collectors, tables with the recommendations of the day and a large flat screen on which a football match of the UEFA Europa League was broadcast this evening. For the atmosphere 3, somehow I was not really warm with the guest room, which was not only at the temperature, but also at our table and the current TV program. We were greeted by business, nice and friendly would be exaggerated, on our question for a table for two people we were assigned a small two table. This was also the case with regular guests who were kindly greeted to cordially and were given a four-person or as an individual even a six-person as a couple. Our waiter was not yet fully seated next to us, the menus were enough and asked for the drinks. Since the question of a non-dry white wine could not be answered, we asked for some patience. This was granted to us for five minutes, then our service was back next to us to receive the complete order. With a not overloaded, yet quite extensive map with pizzas, pasta, meat and fish dishes plus the recommendations on the boards, we came forward. The ordered drinks came fast, as well as who wonders it, the appetizers. Hardly this was followed by my supplemental salad, which I was allowed to eat half in peace until the main dishes were served. Since our table was not the greatest and I feared that the plate with my main dish was stacked on my salad bar, I had to take the salad plate first into the hand so that it was space for my main dish, the salad then wandered to the outer left table edge. The request for the invoice and the payment process were also quickly completed. If it had lasted longer here I would still take a point, so it remains at 2. Ordered an Orangina € 2.80 and a yeast wheat € 3.50 , as an appetizer the Pita special € 7.80 and the Peperoni € 6.00 , as main dishes the Pizza Estate € 10.50 and the Spieß Diavola € 17.80 . The drinks came to the table well tempered, Orangina and Hefeweizem should not overwhelm a restaurant. My grilled peperoni with pressed garlic and olive oil were dressed nicely on a square plate, but tastefully no revelation, as the saline flavor in which they previously bathed unfortunately covered everything else. The Pita speciale, Sicilian grilled bread with fresh tomato cubes, olive oil, basil and grated sheep cheese, grilled with crispy edge but not dry dough tasted my wife well. The tomato cubes really fresh as announced, the basil supporting but not dominant, the whole is rubbed with a neat amount and inoculated with olive oil, thankfully the pita with the ingredients was not pushed back into the pizza oven again. 3 for the appetizers when I base the average here. The side salad consisted of iceberg salad, rocket, cut red cabbage strips, tomatoes, red onions and carrot salad, made with a light vinegar and oil dressing. The ingredients fresh, the dressing in order without really embossing, solid, okay 3 . My diavolasp, also served on a white, square plate, consisted of four pieces of pork and rosemary spices, on top three more grilled red peppers. The pork end nicely grilled with roasted aromas and still juicy inside. The rosemary spices consisted of fried potato columns, which also earned their name from the rosemary aroma. The first bite also immediately advised that the spear had its name, a clear but not unpleasant sharpness, which did not immediately make the taste nerves unreceptive to all other flavors. The Pizza Estate with thin soil almost a bit too strong to be baked without being hard and dry, with buffalo mozzarella, cherry tomatoes, fresh mushrooms, rocket and parmesan pieces. The 30cm size for my wife is absolutely sufficient, for them not the best pizza with a rocket that she has ever eaten but still ok, a new order would be possible. All in all, the food was fine, 3 yes, but it is not enough too much. The restaurant and the toilets were, as far as you can see it as a normal guest, perfectly clean, therefore 4 . The PLV at € 48.40 with two appetizers, two main dishes and drinks comes to 3 , ambience and service also play a role. Conclusion: We felt craved by the service and left the cave after 1 1⁄4 hours. A cozy evening looks different. For a quick food to eat, I could certainly imagine another visit for a cozy evening at the Italian."
