"Nice place but mediocre pasta... I sat outside on the very enjoyable terrace and sipped some wine, had some bread and olives, and then ordered the pappardelle à la campagniola. Unfortunately, the pasta was so unimpressive that it kind of ruined the whole experience! It was either overcooked or not even fresh pasta, or both. The creamy sauce was way too creamy, and there was way too much of it. I think the underlying flavors were great – sausage, shallots, and asparagus – but it was hard for them to show up amongst all the cream!"

"Initially only visited for the upstairs comedy night (which was a blast) and then stayed for food. After an initial order issue with an in-training server, another lovely chap resolved everything. He went above and beyond with amending the mistake, with a generously discounted bill and even a couple of glasses of bubbly. Far beyond what was necessary! Made for a lovely valentines day. Steak was top notch too. No complaints at all!"

"We ordered two glasses of the £12 pound Chardonnay and pointed it out on the menu. The waiter confirmed. When we received the bill, we were charged £22 pounds a glass. The waiter blamed it on the fact that we ordered «Chardonnay, and not the house wine» (which was also chardonnay), yet he billed us for the most expensive out of three options. This is an outright lie as he confirmed that we ordered the £12 pound wine when we ordered. And if we did indeed order an undefined glass of chardonnay, why charge the most expensive? The only thing the waiter offered to do was to remove the service fee. We feel scammed."

"Many years ago, this restaurant had terrible food. A Dutch tourist described it to the oblivious owner, who asked him how his meal was, as the worst burger he had ever tasted. They have either changed ownership or had a food revelation. I believe it's the former. My wife and I came for Sunday dinner and despite the busy evening with many reserved tables, we were accommodated. We both enjoyed the beef roast, which was delicious. I'm not a huge fan of beef roasts, but the Yorkshire pudding and horseradish ice cream combination won me over. The desserts were particularly good, with a variety to choose from. The Yorkshire pudding was perfectly cooked, and the horseradish was creamy with a nice kick. I had the banoffee pie and my wife had the chocolate brownies, both described as homemade and they tasted just right. I only deducted a point for not having a vegetarian roast option, as advertised on their website, and the prices were a bit higher than I would typically pay. However, the quality of the meal made it worth the cost. We will definitely be returning!"

"Came here on social media recommendations for my mums birthday. She loves Thai food. The starters aren't great.....we ordered 4 and they all arrived on the same plate, no idea of portion and mixed veg with meat. We have a vegetarian in the party so that wasn't great. The Thai salad was lovely, and the mains were fair to good. Other reviews of portion size Vs price are probably correct. The place only has one server together with the couple that own the place. It's very full but I wonder if it's really because of the bring your own alcohol as a pre-night out drink and food."

"A calm oasis in a busy and touristy area. Delightful spaces indoors and outdoors surrounded by green plants in this gem of a restaurant near the Thames and St Thomas' Hospital. The hake was done just right, tender with crispy skin, sitting on a bed of succulent fennel and thinly sliced fried potatoes. The bread was absolutely fresh, with just enough stretch and a good crust. The Easter tart was a fruit cake peppered with tiny cubes of orange peel and wrapped in a layer of marzipan topped by a marzipan ball. The hot water for the tea came hot enough to make two perfect cups of tea. All in all, an excellent dining experience."

"Nicely maintained gastropub a few minutes walk from Clapham Common. The staff were very welcoming and patient, and the food was very tasty. The atmosphere of the pub was very noisy as you can imagine on a Sunday at 1:30pm, but wasn't too outrageous. We were a party of two and those tables are mostly placed further away from the larger tables which was appreciated. The food was excellent, although we noticed only a bit warm when we received, and we didnt get our yorkshire puddings I had to get up from my table to find a staff member to let them know they had been forgotten. This happened to a larger table that we saw, where they didn't bring even one until they asked for them."

"Shame-Used to be so good.. Ive been going to pico bar on and off or about 5 yrs now, and during this time ive noticed the quality and taste of food to slowly get poorer and poorer. This is not a cheap eat, therefore i expect quality food. They used to be great, and the service is still very good, but the food left me very dissapointed this time around. I ordered squid as a main meal and it arrived presented well, but totally totally tasteless and bland, as if it were boiled. I gave it away-i regret not sending it back now. "it is worth starting with the fact that we visited it twice during our short london tourism trip. the 1st afternoon looked from the hotel and we noticed the building immediately. a great English pub! we really enjoyed the place. eat – delicious! me. I am not a big fan of burgers (i.e. 2x per year), but I ordered a burger both paints. also a steak was very good and a brownie cake. the location is near the train station vauxhall unrground. also a walk from westminster is quite short – it really is worth having this maybe-his 10min walk. I hope to be back to have more greene king something to eat"

"We stumbled upon this restaurant while staying nearby and were pleasantly surprised. The beers were good and the service was excellent, despite the Euro soccer games being shown. The atmosphere was lively with many people there to watch the games. The staff did a great job clearing glasses and serving delicious food. Our group ordered steak, burgers, and fish and chips, and everyone enjoyed their meals. I particularly loved the Cajun spiced chips that came with the steak. I would definitely return and recommend this restaurant to friends and family."

"My friend and I had just completed a ride on the London Eye and fancied a bite to eat. We went in and were abruptly taken to our seats, the waitress swiftly went back towards the front entrance before I had a chance to ask...where the toilets were. We were seated in such a cramped, tight space. The restaurant was not busy and we decided we wanted to move seats. We were shouted at by the woman who directed us to our seats. Everyone turned around, which was embarrassing for us. I then told her that we were uncomfortable where we were originally seated. We then moved to another corner where waitresses where going back and forth serving customers . If it weren't for the fact we were tired and hungry, we honestly would have walked out at this stage. When the bill came the waitress added service charge to our bill without asking us, she did remove this after we queried it. I have been here in the past and have been greeted in a courteous manner. The customer is paying for this experience and service. Won't be going back here in a hurry !"

"We arrived on time for a Sunday roast only to discover that they'd made our booking two weeks later than agreed on the phone, however, the manager was wholly unapologetic and seated us at a non-dining table for the best part of an hour while they waited for a table to come free. Eventually we were seated at the bar and immediately informed of when we had to leave, again with no acknowledgement of the error on their part. When a table was eventually vacated I asked the manager if we could be reseated, but again she was disappointingly unaccomodating, informing us that the table was reserved 45 minutes from now. She also blamed her staff for the confusion rather than taking accountability, which I feel is an important attribute for a manager. We were eventually reseated and served our food, which was of a good quality but by no means deserving of a spot in the TimeOut best sunday roasts in London. Most of the other staff were very warm and welcoming. In all, a nice pub but the experience was marred by the manager, who didn't go our of her way to make us feel welcome."

"first time at this PE location, but have had PE many times at other restaurants, this is the worst I have had. Out for pizza with a friend in Herne Hill 9.30-10.45pm on Fri 11th May 2024. after a wait of a minute or 2 to be acknowledged, we had a friendlyish welcome. From then, the waitress who served us gave minimal friendliness, no effort to create an environment where we felt welcome to eat. NO checking if everything was ok, or allergies. Ordered a pizza to share, they had to go away and get a second plate when it arrived despite it being on the order. My friend was ready for dessert before me so asked for a billionaire sundae with no chocolate, it came with the chocolate on top, the waitress slid it on to the edge of the table sideways with no words of 'here you are, enjoy ' or anything of the like. We then waited to get attention of staff asked a different waitress for an alternative ice cream because it had come with a chocolate on it, she took it away and took the order for different option. (We had both finished pizza and plates were clear at this stage. The first waitress came back to confirm, and brought the ice cream over, again with little friendliness and walked away. She didn 't check with me if I then wanted a dessert, it took over 5 minutes to catch her eye again to order some ice cream for myself, again it was placed in the middle of the table then pushed towards me, with no warmth, it was a smaller amount than my friend and I had to spit out the strawberry piece on top as it tasted mouldy. Staff were side tracked with delivery orders at times which was off-putting. When the bill came the sundae was still charged for despite the no chocolate request not being fulfilled and it being inedible by my friend. We didn 't challenge it, but am bringing to your attention, the service failed these two customers on this occasion. All in all a disappointing experience. The second waitress was more friendly and attentive, but the mood around the experience had been spoiled already by the actions of the first. The pizza was perfect!"

"This listing needs to be changed to reflect that this restaurant is not Mrs Wong 's. It went under new ownership and changed its name to 'Cozy Woods ' many years ago. All the more recent and largely negative reviews reflect this new restaurant, not the Streatham institution that was Mrs Wong 's, and frankly they are a stain on the good name of what was once an incredibly beloved community favourite. Cozy Woods, stop trying to capitalise on the reputation and goodwill built up by the real Mrs Wong 's over many decades. Much love to the original owners and staff."

"Popped in today after a visit to the Globe Theatre. Went round the houses looking for a Sunday roast and ended up here. Drinks; a good selection of beers and Ales plus the usual suspects. Staff were attentive and very friendly. The Sunday roast was amazing. We had the beef as the chicken was sold out. Amazing plate of food and so much better than I could ever rustle up. Highly recommended and off the beaten track so not too busy even when the South Bank is heaving with people."

"Not usually the type to leave damaging reviews but this was terrible. I could forgive the food taking over an hour to be given to a driver if the food was nice, but it was disgusting. The veg in the biryani was obviously from a bag of frozen veg, but not cooked properly. So, it was chewy and inedible. The chicken was unseasoned and dry. The sauces were bland. We threw most of it away. I missed the window to ask for a refund due to being up super early next day to travel. Really unhappy"

"I decided to try it out when it was quiet. I had a late lunch, around 2:30pm, and I was the only diner. The tables were well prepared and staff were observing social distancing and Covid safe working practices. I started with the usual olives, bread, butter and fish paste, then Canja (chicken soup) as a starter and followed by Bacalhao a Braga, a dish of cod in a light batter covered in onions and red peppers with thinly sliced potato rounds roasted in the oven. The dish was delicious, cod cooked just right and the fish was so big it would have easily satisfied two people therefore I didn't finish it! I had a small Mousse de Maracuja (passion fruit mousse) to finish. They do wine by the jug here as well as by the bottle and the house white is pretty OK and it works out less expensive than buying wine by the glass. I can't say much about the service they were very pleasant and attentive, but I as I was the only diner present at the time, I wasn't able to see how they cope when they're full. Pricewise, OK; I've noticed since reopening after Covid lockdown, most of London's Portuguese restaurants have pushed their prices up, mainly on drinks but also on food. This one's no exception. The food, wine plus a bottle of mineral water, a small coffee and a Bagaso and an extra glass of wine came to almost £50. Pre Covid, this would have been more like £45. Still, it won't break the bank. I'd suggest that diners order one main between two; at least that way you'll have a chance of finishing it! The menu is slightly more varied than some Portuguese restaurants and someday soon, I'll go back for diner and try other tasty dishes, next with with a very empty stomach! Can't fault their generosity. Benefit of the doubt 4/5."
