"Disgusting that no one told us that children under 18 had to be out of the pub by 9pm no signs anywhere. We were a large family who hadn’t been able to get together for years so this was a special occasion for us all. Some of us travelling for over a hour to get to the pub. First of all we were told that we couldn’t move tables together to be able to accommodate us all, then a member of staff did help and we were all able to sit together. That’s why I have given 1 star. We were then told that as my nephew didn’t have id on him to prove his age he’s 22 and he was seen drinking alcohol it was the law that the whole table would be banned from buying alcohol. The actual law is that children under 18 can have an alcoholic beverage with a meal as long as they are accompanied by an adult over 18. It might be Wetherspoons policy not to uphold this but that is totally different. That’s rubbish as it’s not the law at all that’s Wetherspoons policy. We didn’t order our food till 8pm and even asked the member of staff if the chicken was spicy as it was for a 9 year old. He said no it would be fine. Again nothing mentioned about children having to be out of the pub by 9pm We bought raffle tickets at table and the young lady that sold them to us saw we had young children with us again nothing was said about children having to be out by 9pm. There is no signs anywhere explaining this about children This was the same person that came over to our table and eventually told us that we had to leave as we had young children with us. She also said that staff should have made us aware that this was the case but she herself didn’t do this either. Also when you are told by staff that it’s the law that children have to be out by 9pm and it’s actually your policy that’s very wrong. Some people might not know the law but I’ve worked in hospitality for 26 years and am a personal license holder also. So staff telling me rubbish doesn’t wash. We got told that it states on the website about children but who actually looks for that most people go to look at the menu. On the website you have to go into opening times to see about children. If we had known this we would never of chosen to eat here. You need signs up in the pub to explain this. Would defraud if you want to eat in the evenings with young children"

"What a fiasco. You couldn 't make it up, talk about Fawlty Towers. I stayed in room 6 this year, after specifically requesting not to stay in room 2 with it 's enormous bright green Fire Exit sign on all night. The nice young lady had some trouble letting me into room 6, the one right at the end of the block, but eventually we got in. Straight away I noticed that the original lock had been replaced and a bodge job had been done. As it was warm I left the door open for a bit. When I wanted a shower, I tried to lock the door from the inside, this proved impossible. So I went to the bar and explained and the nice young lady came back and said that her Dad would be along soon and he would have a look at it. Which he did. I returned the next evening at around 5.30, the pub garden was full, with drinkers seated around 6ft from my front door . I couldn 't get in. Again. I spent an embarrassing 5 10 mins trying, viewed by all of the drinkers outside. Eventually a nice chap offered to come and help. He too tried for ages and said the lock was utterly broken. He didn 't quite use those words though. : Then someone came out from the bar at my request and she literally had to kick the door in to gain access. All of this took place in front of the whole beer garden. On Sunday morning I tried to leave the room, I was unable to. I was locked in. As chance would have it the landlady rang me, to ask what time I wanted breakfast, on telling her of my plight she tried to gain access from outside and failed. Then another lady turned up and she climbed in through the window. Eventually, between them they got the lock open. This took some time. I wonder what would have happened if there had been a fire during the night? Perhaps I should also add that the duvet was torn, the wheel on the bed was broken, so you were sleeping at an odd angle. There was a dried blood stain on the duvet and a rip on the mattress cover. The sofa was very worn. There was black mould on the inside window and on the bath. The toilet seat had been screwed on wonky. I eventually located a wifi charger point, hidden behind the bedside table, but it didn 't work. I requested a discount, given the ridiculous situation with the lock and was offered £50 off a three night stay. Given the amount that is being charged, that was derogatory. She eventually gave me £100 off . with no apology."

"This is a review about this fantastic tearoom Teacups but mostly about how I highly recommend the Dark Chocolate Cherry Scone Cream Tea I popped to this beautiful, quaint English Tearoom village to meet friends for coffee cake on Friday 24th. I am a frequent visitor it is always such a welcoming, friendly, relaxing atmosphere whether your alone or meeting friends or family for coffee, cake, or a spot of lunch. There is always a wide nice range of options for hot or cold drinks, the menu has a bit of everything to suit all appetites always a fabulous choice of freshly made delicious cakes. Yesterday, I really set my heart on taking a traditional cream tea home with me, (as they also do take out), unfortunately they had run out of the traditional accompaniment to a cream tea of a fruit scone but Claire Kathryn (the lovely tearoom owners) made a suggestion how about trying the Dark Chocolate Cherry Scone, with Cherry Jam clotted cream I am always happy to try new things well I was not disappointed it was delicious! I heated the scone up on a low heat so the dark chocolate slightly melted, added the cherry jam then topped with the clotted cream it worked so well was a really delicious change to the original cream tea. I always highly recommend Teacups Tearoom but, if your like me like the traditional things in life I honestly suggest to try these new ideas as I am so glad I did, I will definitely be trying various variety of Scones in the future alone or as a cream tea."
