"My partner and I ate here last night. Wow, wow, wow. I just don't know why this place is not packed out every night? Italian food, well cooked by someone who is genuinely proud of what he produces. From the moment we walked through the...door the atmosphere was relaxed. The service was welcoming and warm, I felt like I was walking into somebodies home. The menu has pasta dishes as well as chicken and seafood. My partner and I shared an antipasti starter and then had chicken with mushrooms and breaded chicken. Both dishes were served with a slice of garlic bread and the most wonderful Italian frittata. The chicken on both dishes was tender and perfectly cooked. For desert we shared a chocolate and raspberry tart. The chocolate was dense and creamy with the raspberry pieces tangy and sharp. All perfectly balanced with a good bitter espresso on the side. This place looks like a coffee shop from the outside which may make people think this is not a fully fledged restaurant. The staff are friendly and really know about what they cook. The wine list is perfect and not too expensive. Try the Sicilian beer too. Don't hesitate, take the plunge book a table you will not be disappointed."

"My husband and I have had takeaways from Curry on the Curve many times and they're always delicious, so I decided to book him a cookery class with Anil for his birthday. It was even better than we expected! Anil showed us how to make onion bhajis, paneer tikka, roti breads, a mixed vegetable curry and pilau rice. On top of that, he was also extremely informative about how and when to use different spices, how to find the best and freshest ingredients and how to make your own paneer from scratch. The whole experience was really relaxed, enjoyable and interesting, and incredibly good value for money. Anil and Smita even sent us the recipes afterwards, so we could make the dishes we'd made together at home! Curry on the Curve is such a gem in the Newport food community and the absolute best place in the city for healthy, vegetarian Indian food. We'll be back for more again and again."

"We had dinner here as a family. It was great! Very tasty food and a very nice team. Prices were reasonable. We have the GL beef burger (wth smoked bacon, melted cheese, gherkins, onion relish, mustard mayo, brioche bun chips), the Homemade Welsh beef lasagne (wth garlic bread mixed salad), the haddock (chilli coriander tempura haddock , sweet chilli dip) and the Thai Chicken Curry (Fragrant Thai green chicken curry, rice, popadom, mango chutney). Every single dish was delicious! No oversized portions. There was also a delicious Bluestone Ale, recommended by the waiter. Also very tasty! If it works out, we will most likely visit the restaurant a second time on our week long vacation. Definitely recommended! Food drinks: Every single dish was delicious!"

"A lovely spot overall. The food is decent and reasonably priced. The service is quite satisfactory; there was a minor mix-up when ordering at the bar, but the waitress and kitchen staff readily corrected it after serving the food. Overall, it's a pleasant and straightforward place to dine. While parking is limited, there is a nearby short-stay car park that offers one hour of free parking. Price per person: £10–£20."

"situated inside a large Tesco Extra superstore Gemelli comes with Strange decour that doesn't fit an Italian restaurant. It's more like a gastro pub,, with tables housed in booths on benches . Food menu is ok, fairly basic yet standard, but my gripe is that the vegetarian options are poor and seem to be the meat removed for most dishes, rather than a dedicated veggie plate. Disappointed my caprese salad came without the traditional sweet basil, yet would have accepted a variation of this simple dish, yet what I had was no dressing or seasoning making it extremely bland. No olives either. Just mozzarella, lettuce and tomatoes. This is a basic dish to get wrong. No olive oil, balsamic vinegar, or even black pepper and salt were present on the tables.Overall a very bland experience."

"The food was good, but the service was terrible. We had to wait a long time for our drinks to come with our meal, and it was clear that they had forgotten about them. After asking again, they finally brought them over. We also had to wait a long time for dessert, which they had also forgotten about. It took a really long time to pay the bill as well. We spoke to the owner at the bar to complain, but there was no apology. It's a shame because we have had great meals here before with much better service. Meal type: Dinner."

"Ordered food at 7:02pm and was advised via email that delivery would be delayed by 30 mins and to expect delivery 8:32pm. Started phoning at 20:58pm only to be told it would be 5 minutes away. Food was finally received after 9:30pm after 12 phone calls that were not answered from my phone number but answered straight away when called from another number or my landline. Even though the starters were cold and the keema naan separated into two parts the main meals were hot and tasty."

"Loved it. We were staying locally and recommended the weekend pizza night. It didn't disappoint! We didn't have a reservation and they were fully booked (6pm Saturday night) but were offered a table outside on the deck. Considering the stunning weather we've had this summer, we were more than happy to be outside amid the sculptures and frescos. Staff were incredibly obliging and friendly and we felt very well taken care of. We had arancini balls and a couple of pizzas (one each) and they were excellent. Despite The Snug being a cosy little place tucked out of the way in a small village, the pizzas (from their impressive pizza oven) were up there with the best I've had. The pizza toppings on point and, most importantly, the bases were super tasty and delightfully chewy. Food and staff: 10/10. Heartily recommended and ready to drop in again soon."

"We had an amazing Sunday lunch experience at this restaurant. We were fortunate enough to secure a table for a late afternoon booking on a Sunday morning. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere in the pub was welcoming. There was a great selection of quality drinks and the Sunday menu offered traditional choices. For starters, we ordered soup and ham hock terrine, both of which were generous portions and delicious. Our main courses of turkey and beef were impressive, with a variety of fresh vegetables, roast potatoes, parsnips, and tender meat. The food not only looked great but tasted even better, especially with the large Yorkshire Pudding and extra gravy. We enjoyed our meal so much that we booked again for the following Sunday and received the same warm welcome and fantastic food. We appreciated the restaurant's policy of no children under 12, as it added to our overall experience. As a parent of four children and a proud grandmother of well-behaved kids, we thank you for a wonderful dining experience."

"I have been passing by this restaurant for some time now, and decided to book a table for my wife and myself to celebrate. My wife loves Tapas and I enjoy it as well, so we thought it would be a good choice. The online menu indicated that the prices were reasonable, and they also mentioned they had craft ales which I love. The staff was friendly and helpful, the food was delicious (especially the calamari), although they didn't have any craft ales available, we enjoyed a tasty espresso martini. We will definitely be returning in the future."

"We found this restaurant on Google. Being a Wednesday night and the fact we were dining early, we were the only patrons in the restaurant. They have a nice small menu with all the classic Chinese dishes. I was served the largest portion of prawn toast which was very tasty. The Chicken Chow Mein was fantastic as was the Chicken in Black Bean sauce. My wife is a vegetarian and she was more than happy with her selection. My children demolished their dishes which they usually don’t do. Also a special shout to the owner who was very friendly and even recommended dishes without us asking. He even gave the kids free Ben and Jerry’s ice cream. Highly recommend this place! He mentioned that there is another branch near Westfield in Stratford too!"

"Since discovering my multiple food intolerances, I have had to follow a strict Low FODMAP diet permanently. However, Mamma Lina's has always been great every time we visit. They are willing to adapt their dishes for me and accommodate my needs. They even allowed me to check the gluten-free pasta packaging to ensure it was made only from maize flour, without any lentils or peas which I cannot have. The food quality and attentive service at Mamma Lina's have always been exceptional, and even with my restricted diet, they continue to go above and beyond to ensure I am comfortable, happy, and satisfied with my meal."

"Me and my partner visited The Secret Garden yesterday and were too late for breakfast but in time to see people receiving what looked like superb cooked breakfasts. They’d sold out, but that wasn’t a problem my partner had a delicious burrata caprese salad, and I had one of the best burgers I’ve ever eaten in my life. It was a generous, substantial serving for both of us so we were glad we arrived hungry. I live in Cardiff, where we are spoiled for great cafes and restaurants, and The Secret Garden is a match for any of them. I’d love to go back for the breakfast sometime but I would be happy to visit this little gem in Newport any time. Oh, it’s dog friendly and the people there are very welcoming. Strongly recommended."

"My partner and I had an opportunity to try the unique Gareth Daw Collection 10 course testing menu. The whole experience started with homemade pineapple and raspberry ciders, followed by berbere bread with creamy lemon butter. Next, one of our favourites crocodile (yes, crocodile! with yummy bacon maple jam perfectly complementing the exotic protein. Just when we thought this could not get any better here comes the Head Chef carrying the plates filled with wild mushrooms sprinkled with popping candy which started popping once the dish was poured over with rich earl grey mushroom sauce wow, that was something new! After this we got presented with one of the menu's stand out dish the famous pork belly soaking in coconut sauce and topped with passion fruit caviar! That's definitely one of must try when visiting the restaurant! Dish no 6, cod in tomato and sea herbs. My partner is not a big fan of sea food but Chef Gareth's fish was clearly of very high quality and addition of sea herbs brought it to a whole new level. Next comes lamb breast with oxtail. Personally, I was not sure what to expect as lamb is not my favourite one nor is oxtail BUT...need to admit that it was expertly prepared dish, packed with massive range of powerful flavours, beautiful tender meat, simply perfect. Now moving onto dessert part of the menu, first we were served with delicious banana sorbet sprinkled with dried raspberries. After that we had a three layered chocolate cake with coffee and orange flavours. Stunning presentation of both dessert with fresh fruits and lovely garnish flowers. Last dish of our testing experience was petit four, cute pink macaroons and amazing sweet potato brownies. We absolutely loved the whole testing menu and hope we could try one again soon. The food was fresh and high quality. We appreciated the beautiful presentation and variety of flavours. The waiting staff was also second to none, very friendly and attentive. We highly recommend the place. It is truly a hidden gem!"

"When arrivng to a 5 star hotel Celtic Mannor Resort nearby we just wanted to try somethng local, this was the first Restaurant we come too, when we opened the doors we looked inside and was amzed how lovely it was insde, We was hesitant to sit down as no one was inside apart from Staff, we was made welcome, shown to a lovey seating area and was treated like royalty , this was to good to be true, we got help wth the menu regarding how spicy the meal would be, the servce was amazing and served in a very good timely manner, what topped the bill was the food itself was to die for, all plates was cleared and the bill was the corect price for the food served, Thanks to all the staff and cooks whom made or visit very pleasant. Ohhh by the time we left many people had arrived for a meal. would go back 100%."

"Sadly, we chose 'Popadoms ' to order a takeaway for this evening. We spent £60 on food and waited 90-minutes for cold food to be delivered with missing items! It 's a Saturday night, so the delivery time is to be expected, less so the cold food and the below... I rang the restaurant and they couldn 't be any less interested, even when speaking to the manager. Getting an apology was like trying to get blood from a stone. We waited a further 30-minutes for the missing items to be delivered (2 hours total waiting time . I ordered a vegetarian pasanda (don 't judge me! , this arrived on delivery 1 ....following delivery 2 (the missing items I noticed they added chicken at no extra charge which is lovely but I 'm actually a vegetarian! Apparently, the person who took the order misunderstood , despite a full conversation on the vegetarian pasanda not being on the menu but they could make it ...now trying to make excuses, lie, and shift the blame onto me. I wouldn 't order from them again. It seems they are taking their high ratings for granted to guarantee orders yet part-delivering a sub-standard service. They returned £25 for my meal items, as priced on the menu. The delivery guy was lovely on all 3 ocassions; he wouldn 't even accept my tip given our poor experience. He was very polite, friendly, and apologetic. The food was OK, despite being microwaved, but the overall experience a fail! Things go wrong and items can be missed, it 's human error, but the customer service around this is key, and that was non-existent!"
