"We own an Airbnb in the area and decided to check out The Talbot to see if it would be a good recommendation for our guests. We were seated at a table in the bay window, which was a pleasant change from the usual tables near the restroom. However, the windowsill had some odd decorations including chunks of wood covered in fungus, a thirsty peace Lilly, a random bottle of vinegar, and another random piece of wood. The menu was written on a blackboard. My partner decided against ordering the mussels due to the lack of customers and concerns about the turnover of shellfish. We both chose the leek and potato soup, which was nice but not impressive. The soup was served with bread but no butter. My partner enjoyed his burger, while I found the texture of the meat in my chili to be strange, as if it had been cooked like a burger and then added to the sauce. Despite this, the flavors were good. We skipped dessert. The atmosphere was lacking, but the decor was pleasant. The young staff were polite, although we did not see a manager on site. The location of the restaurant, directly across from a public school and on a main road, means they need to improve in various areas. Overall, I do not plan to recommend The Talbot to our guests in its current state."

"This review is for the restaurant that we visited on Saturday 24 February 2024. We had a very pleasant waitress who guided us to our table. I ordered liver and bacon with vegetables. The liver was overcooked and the bacon was very tough and inedible. Parsnips were totally burnt and akin to charcoal pieces, totally inedible. All of the small baby carrots showed signs of being burnt and scorched. My wife's bowl of chicken with salad came with a rasher of bacon, which again was very tough and inedible. We were the only customers in the restaurant. The question is how can the chef during the quiet period, manages to burn the food and then dishes up the food and says that it's ready to go to the customers table. Obviously no care for customer service nor any pride in their work. Will not go back and will not recommend this restaurant to anyone."

"Over all I give this 0 stars I will not be eating here again for the following reason’s: Wrong food turned up, when we called to say this we were advised it would be another 40 minute wait onto the hour and half we had already waited for the food in the first place. Chow main was cold and the noodles and bean sprouts were not cooked enough it seemed as if someone had stuck raw noodles in soya sauce and stuck it in a box. Lemon chicken was congealed and again cold with 7 strips of chicken for a main course of £6.50 the dish was not even a snack. The salt and pepper chips were soggy and wet and yet again cold ! The BBQ sauce tasted nothing of the resemblance of BBQ sauce it tasted purely of warm salt. The pot of sweet and sour sauce that we had was tiny considering the amount of chicken that came with this dish and also in comparison to other local restaurants that supply that dish there was not even half the amount of sauce we would have got if we had gone to our normal establishment. All dishes were cold. The only good thing I have to say about this is that the delivery driver was a genuinely lovely human and was very apologetic when I mentioned theses things to her. In total we spent £40 and we might aswell have just thrown that £40 in the bin as that is where all the food ended up ! Never again will I order from here and the only reason we did in the 1st place was because Tasty in town were far too busy to compete a delivery this evening, they are by far 1million times better than china china, so disappointed."

"We arrived to this pub after finding them online and seeing what looked like a really good menu. However on arrival when seated we were given a completely different menu which only had starters available and mains available. Which didn’t give much choice...at all. After ordering a waitress then came over and said they had no pork belly for of the main dishes but it would be replaced with pork loin. The rest of the group ordered steak of the day, which when they came out only had been cooked correctly and had to be sent back. of which came back full of fat and gristle which could not be eaten and then the other that was sent back which should have been medium rare came back well done. The pork loin was fatty and didn’t have much meat on either, was a let down that the pork belly had run out. Apparently the chef has left and leaves only person in the kitchen. If this is the case we couldn’t understand why on such a small menu the dishes that were on offer could not be cooked to a decent standard. Also considering we had rang and booked if they were on such a limited menu it would have been nice to have been told this over the phone as they apparently can’t access the website to change the menu online. When speaking to the manager at the end they are apparently changing the menu this week. The meals that weren’t eaten were taken off the bill by the manager after what looked like she had to check with the owner who was constantly stood staring at us with his hands on his hips, which made you feel uncomfortable. I wouldn’t recommend this pub at all until they have got a fully staffed kitchen and by the looks of previous reviews we aren’t the first to have been disappointed."

First time my son has taken his one year old dog to a pub plenty of room for him to lay on the floor and was made welcome. Will definitely return. "We made a reservation the day before for my birthday dinner. When we arrived, we initially felt a bit underdressed compared to the local patrons, but we were warmly welcomed by the staff and owners of the Manor. We had plenty of time to peruse the menu and wine list. Our starters, scallops and a trio of mushroom parcel, were excellent. We opted for the beef Wellington for our main course, which had a minimum order of two. This was a new experience for us, but we were impressed with the portion size, two potato dishes, spinach, and hollandaise. We chose the Madeira sauce over the béarnaise, which was delicious and very satisfying. Everything was cooked perfectly - the beef was tender, the pastry was soft and slightly flaky. The dessert selection was great, with one of us enjoying a crème brûlée. There was also an option for a trio of desserts to try three different choices. Overall, this was probably the best meal I have had in a long time, if not ever. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who appreciates well-cooked, quality food."

"I am extremely disappointed with our recent order from this restaurant. We were sent garlic bread slices instead of the baguette we had ordered, which were dripping with grease and burnt. Additionally, our chicken kebab was missing lettuce and chilli sauce, and instead had a sweet sauce that ruined the dish. When we called to explain the mistake, we were told that the garlic bread slices were the baguette, which was confusing. We suggested that they update their website to avoid further confusion. Although they did send us a pot of chilli sauce quickly, the kebab was already ruined by the sweet sauce and arrived cold. The chips we ordered were also disappointing - despite ordering a large portion, it was very small, with black bits and excess condensation in the box. It seemed as though the chips had been cooked earlier and had gone soggy. I understand that mistakes can happen, but I was disappointed by the lack of quality control in our order, especially since it was placed online. We spent over £36 on our meal, and unfortunately, it was not worth it. I would not recommend this place to others and do not plan on trying it again. Pizza King, if you are reading this, a refund or partial refund for the ruined items would be appreciated."

"I believe that Spice India in Blandford is the best and only place to go for Indian food takeaway. Any negative feedback left by previous customers should be ignored, as it is not accurate. Spice India in Blandford offers fresh, delicious, and affordable food. They can get very busy on weekends, so be prepared to wait when placing an order. "I booked afternoon tea for my husband's birthday and we were six adults. The place was busy with satisfied customers enjoying a wet saturday afternoon with top quality tea, with plenty of water for top ups and fantastic and knowledgeable service from Michelle the owner. We were greeted warmly and led to our table where Michelle had even custom made birthday menus for us. She managed all the requirements of many of us who had not had instruction in proper tea before and we loved the way she prepared and poured them for each drinker. The teas were fabulous and I was so happy my husband liked the experience as it was a risk, his not being a tea afficionado. The food was fantastic, the tartines were laden high with delicious fillings. Our second choices of teas were as good as the first and were accompanied by cakes and matcha biscuits as well as really light and tasty blueberry muffins. We felt indulged, looked after and welcome. We travelled 20 miles for this and it was absolutely worth it. It was my 4th time and my families first all together. It really won't be the last and the only reason I don't take all my friends there is that I want to keep it to myself as a get away. However, I have promised to take a few! Michelle, thank you so much. It was a triumph. Cant recommend it more."

"The Museum Inn, located in Farnham, Nr. Blandford Forum, Dorset, DT11 8DE We booked late on Friday night and only one room was available so it was meant to be! We arrived around 5pm and were greeted by friendly staff, shown to our room The Catch and made a reservation for dinner, luckily they still had spaces for dinner but it is advised to book in advance. Lovely spacious room and bathroom, kettle, teas, coffees and bottled water supplied. I have to say I fell in love with the hand wash and hand cream, I have already purchased some for home, the brand is called Bramley and the scent is Lavender, Geranium and Petitgrain. The bed is probably the most comfortable we have ever slept in that is not our own, soft feather pillows that were just right! Dinner was a three course meal and it was delicious, we took 2 hours to eat but never felt rushed or like we were waiting too long between courses. Starters: Ham hock terrine with sourdough toast and Prawn, potato and crayfish fishcakes. Mains: Burger and Steak Ale pie Desserts: Chocolate Brownie with cherry sorbet. Biscoff donuts with pumpkin pie ice cream Drinks: Poretti lager and Cherry cocktail. Breakfast: Eggs Royale and Smashed avocado, poached egg and bacon, absolutely scrumilicious! Big thanks to Amanda who served us this morning and checked us out. Highly recommend staying and eating here and we will 100% be back again! Safe travels! The Allsebrooks x"

"I traveled from Ireland with my 15-year-old twins for a family funeral and stayed at the King's Arms for two nights. We were warmly welcomed, which was a nice touch after a long drive. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and have high standards for food, whether it's for a large family gathering or a meal for two. The breakfast was excellent, with good quality ingredients, well-presented dishes, and plenty of toast, tea, coffee, etc. The food was so good that we ended up having both breakfast and dinner at the restaurant both nights. I highly recommend this place. We booked it on a whim without knowing anything about the area, and we are glad we did. It's great to see a small business offering personal service."

"I’ve now eaten here three times and each time has been excellent. The staff here are so lovely, last time, the salad that we had was a plate full of gorgeous, tasty, fresh food. Today, my husband fancied a Cream Tea but they had run out out scones. The lovely lady in the kitchen baked some more whilst we enjoyed a panini, where else would that happen?! And both were delicious and generous. You can eat in or out, undercover or enjoy the sunshine. Lovely cafe and Lovely garden centre too, wish I lived closer. Thank you."

"Wow! I wish this was my local! We were staying locally and booked in advance advising that two of our six had physical disabilities. From the start we were made so welcome. Ramps were there for a wheelchair and our table was well lit for our friend with limited sight. The menu was as stated on the website and the specials were excellent we tried the sea bass and the individual chicken pies. Our prawn cocktails were lovely and the local trout pate was delicious. The fish and chips and the Mediterranean tart went down well. We also gave a big thumbs up to the bread and really nicely cooked chips and veg. The portions were generous and we didn’t have room for anything other than icecream. A big thank you to Barry and his team. We will certainly return again when in this area."

"We’ve been to the Trooper several times recently and it’s now one of our favourite pubs, always with a warm welcome. A lovely village setting makes for a very relaxed atmosphere. The landlord and landlady couldn’t possibly be more friendly and accommodating. The food is always good, and there’s plenty of it. No skimping on portions here! And to top it all, they stock my favourite flavoured gin, which is more than I can say about most other pubs we visit! We just wish we lived nearer so that we could get to the Trooper more often. Looking forward to our next visit, and are hoping to catch one of the live music events there soon."

"This cafe is my favourite one,and the place I have to visit when I visit family. I have been here a good many times,have had scones sent by post to my home,aswell as collecting an order still warm from oven when I was heading home from visiting Margot has been open on this site about 8 years,I've been coming 7+. I have yet to have a bad part of any meal,and just know every Thyme that the quality is constant. Margot took on a young apprentice Eve some years ago,and Eve is now the Head Chef.... The whole TaT team are brilliant. The way the food,drink,are served is a thoughtful and artistic way. Tea is in glass pot,and little milk bottles for the milk. It's a lovely friendly place. The food,as I said,is really good, quality produce from local area...I think the eggs come from the farm next to cafe...milk is very near,so not cheap items from mass suppliers. I had the Spire Hill Grill,and was surprised that the price was the same as my last visit at Christmas 22.... The cost of living has gone up,and some things have had an increase,but in That you get outstanding quality at a fair price. They do home made cakes...and as with all things offered,are delicious. I enjoy the banter whenever I come down. Thank you Margot and Eve and all the Thymers."

"This traditional pub in a picturesque village is perfect for enjoying drinks in the September sun. We had made a reservation for dinner, but unfortunately, many items on the limited menu were unavailable. The ribs and lamb shank were sold out, so we settled for the last Mediterranean tart and Katsu chicken (fried chicken strips with a thick sauce). It was basic pub fare, as we would say in England. After exploring Dorset and Hampshire for most of August and September, we were disappointed to find that The Crown fell short of our expectations."

"We were really looking forward to trying out this restaurant with our friends as most of the reviews on here are great, however we will never be returning to this restaurant. The food was awful so we let the staff know and said sorry but we cannot eat the curry as it was way too sweet and had no other flavour or spice in it. The staff member started accusing us of ordering the wrong thing on the menu and not reading it properly and got very defensive instead of saying sorry and offering to fix the problem. He was saying we should have told them how we wanted it first before ordering, but we always order the same curry at every restaurant we go to and have never had one as terrible as this. The staff member continued to argue with us in front of the other diners in the restaurant, which was embarrassing and the worst customer service I have ever experienced. If we had an apology and offered an alternative straight away it wouldn't have been a problem and we may have returned but as the customer service was awful I will never be returning. WARNING to anyone going to this restaurant if you have a problem with your food get ready for a loud abusive argument in the restaurant in front of everyone!!! It was a traumatising experience and the staff member who was yelling at us should be ashamed of himself! They did take my curry off the bill in the end, but that was only after a huge argument and was too little too late!"
