"My friend and I visited five guys in Nottingham on a Friday during December when the Christmas market was on. This was my first ever visit to a five guys restaurant. Going at lunchtime we expected it to be really busy but it was quite the opposite. we ordered and waited for several minutes for the food prepared before we were handed a brown paper bag. We took this to the upstairs seating area and I was eager to see what I had been missing. I have ordered a little bacon cheeseburger with relish and grilled mushrooms. The burgers come wrapped in silver foil And were pretty squashed together with cheese leaking all over the packaging. The bread bun was fairly standard and the meat patty was a freshly formed burger and very tasty. The bacon was cooked to death but did the job and the relish was more diced pickle to be honest. The burger tasted nice enough, but even Burger King is superior. We ordered a regular portion of chips between us and these came with a cardboard cup somewhat chucked into the brown paper bag. The chips were very nice skin on chips and I can’t fault them, but clearly you don’t go to a place like this for presentation! Well, I’ve now tried five guys, and it was a very average experience all round really, but it stopped me from feeling hungry is about as good a review as I can give it. It wouldn’t bother me if I never came here again though."

"Been many many times in the past …. Back in the day the menu was much bigger with a good variety of seafood, veggie and meat dishes. Now only 13 main dishes to choose from with a lot of old time favourites gone like the squid, peppers with honey and hazelnuts. In the past it didn’t matter what you ordered off the menu, every dish was utterly amazing in its own right and I could totally understand how it had achieved it’s Michelin Bib. I’m sorry to say it just isn’t that good anymore. The croquettes were over cooked with the coating being too thick and crunchy as they were a little overdone… they should literally ooze and melt in your mouth. Catalan bread good, and cheese and meat board you can’t really go wrong with. Lamb balls were nothing special, cured salmon was good, mushrooms nice but a bit of a cheat when you are literally putting sauce on it to flavour it and it’s the same sauce as the chicken wings so if you order both they will taste literally like the same dish which is just too rich and too much. Had to send the pork back primarily because it was dry but the flavours weren’t anything special and didn’t sing like the dishes used to. Bring back the beef onglets with the truffle! Your old dishes were worthy of your bib but the food now just isn’t at all unfortunately. Sorry but as people who have eaten here for over fifteen years we have to be honest."

"Went yesterday with a couple of friends expecting a wonderful lunch and pleasant atmosphere, as was the case on numerous previous occasions, only to be greeted with an empty restaurant (red flag 1 . We walked up to the bar to ask if they were open and were told yes, and to go sit wherever, menus are on the left, come order and pay at the bar because there is no table service as it 's apparently 'fully booked ' even though it was empty save for one other table (red flag 2 . We chose a table (which looked like it hadn 't been wiped down properly red flag 3 , looked through the menus and went to order I wanted the mixed meat Sunday roast (beef, pork, chicken and lamb only to be told it comes up as 'Three meat roast ' on the till and the price was different from the menu (red flag 4 , when I queried why that was the case the woman serving us went to the kitchen to 'double check ' only to come out again and say the till is programmed differently (red flag 5 . Person serving us obviously did not know how to operate till, did not know how to talk to customers and was very short with us despite having an empty restaurant (red flag 6 . My friend ordered food and a cup of tea which came up on the receipt as 'flat white ' (red flag 7 . Went back to our table to wait for food, which arrived relatively quickly but the meat was LUKEWARM, the potatoes were UNDERCOOKED and portion sizes had massively reduced, and when friend queried why the tea hadn 't arrived yet halfway through the meal was told they were just 'starting up the machine ' (to boil water for tea??? . We ate what we could and left the rest thinking we 'd get food poisoning, and left quickly friend never received that tea she paid for. Found out later that the restaurant is now under new management as the original owners had closed it down in May due to rising costs, and new owners clearly have no hospitality experience and are living off of the restaurant 's previous excellent reputation I doubt this place will survive much longer considering how awful the food and experience are!"
