But the Gastshaus Herzogenhof – directly at the bus stop – has even abolished its rest day. "Laß uns in den Eikamper Hof fahren , mit dieser Aussage fing alles an. Da ich den Namen noch nie gehört hatte hielt sich meine Begeisterung anfangs in Grenzen. Dann habe ich mich aber doch überzeigen lassen und habe zugestimmt. Wie der Name es schon sagt liegt der Eikamper Hof in Eikamp. Quasi am Ende der Welt neben Bergisch Gladbach. Immerhin an einer Bundesstrasse gelegen hätte mich eigentlich nichts dorthin verschlagen. Parken kann man gut in der Seitenstraße. Beim Betreten kann man entweder rechts in den Schankraum oder links in den Restaurant-Bereich gehen. Über eine Treppe kann man den Saal erreichen der sich für Feste und Feierlichkeiten anbietet. Der Restaurantbereich ist nicht sehr groß aber nett aufgeteilt, neben dem größeren Raum befindet sich noch einer kleinerer und ein schöner Biergarten. So, aber was wollen wir essen. Die Speisekarte bietet viel interessantes an. Neben diversen Schnittzengerichten auch Steaks zu guten Preisen, für die Gegend typische Dinge wie Gyros und noch viel mehr. Meine Wahl fiel auf ein Pfännchen mit Medaillons und verschiedene Saucen. Ebenso landeten auch Schnitzel auf unserem Tisch. An der Kopfseite des Raumes befindet sich eine Salattheke. Der Salat ist frisch knackig, verschiedene Dressings werden auch angeboten. Thunfisch war dort z.B. auch zu finden. Nach dem Salat mussten wir auch nicht lange auf unser Essen warten. Und es war sehr lecker und vor allem reichlich. Auch auf Sonderwünsche wurde sofort eingegangen, so habe ich z.B. die Saucenauswahl bei meinem Pfännchen abgeändert. Nach dem Essen dann noch ein Eis. Auch hier meinte man es wieder sehr gut was die Menge angeht. Preislich gibt es absolut nichts zu bemängeln. Schnitzelgerichte zwischen 9 und 12 Euro incl. Beilagen und Salatbuffet. Mein Medaillon-Pfännchen wurde mit 14,50 Euro in Rechnung gestellt. Und ein 300g Hüftsteak gibt es für 14,50 Euro mit Beilage, Hinterher noch einen Ouzo aufs Haus und wir konnten zum Auto kugeln. Der Eikamper Hof hat es jedenfalls geschafft einen Platz auf meiner persönlichen Top-Liste zu bekommen."

"Ich war hier mit meiner Frau zum Mittagessen. Das war nicht mein erster Besuch hier. Bisher konnte mich das Restaurant nicht wirklich überzeugen. Vor allem, weil das Preis/Leistungsverhältnis hier nicht stimmt. Das Essen war immer ganz ok, aber gemessen an der Zubereitungsqualität zu teuer. Der letzte Besuch setzte dem die Krone auf... Ich bestellt einen Burger mit Süßkartoffelfritten. Für immerhin 14 Euro konnte man da ja was ordentliches erwarten. Ich liebe gute Burger. Bei der Frage nach dem Garpunkt sagte ich "durch"...Was dann serviert wurde war eine blanke Unverschämtheit. Das Patty - also das Hackfleisch - war schwarz. Rundherum gleichmäßig schwarz, auch an den Seiten. So bekommt man das eigentliich nur hin, wenn man das Patty frittiert. Diese Zubereitngsart ist bei dem Preis schon mal ein Unding, und dann wurde das Fleisch wohl noch in der Fritöse vergessen, anders konnte ich mir das nicht erklären. Ich schnitt das Fleisch an und kam kaum mit dem Messer durch die harte Kruste. Es floss trotz starkem Druck beim Schneiden kein einziger Tropfen Fleischsaft raus. Ich probierte vorsichtig. Hart, trocken und verbrannt. Wie kann man so etwas denn servieren ? Ich reklamierte wirklich freundlich bei der Bedienung. Die sagte, das läge daran, dass ich "durch" bestellt hatte. Ernsthaft! Ich meinte dann noch, dass durch ja nicht verbrannt heißen würde. Sie sagte dann noch, dass sie in der Küche bescheid sagen würde. Ich erwartete als nächstes eigentlich einen neuen Burger, aber sie ließ sich nicht mehr blicken. Ich war gespannt auf die Rechnung. Ich sollte diese kulinarische Katastrophe tatsächlich voll bezahlen. Ich ärgere mich im Nachhinein, dass ich das getan habe, aber in dem Moment hatte ich einfach keine Lust mich noch mehr aufzuregen. Ich hatte Hunger und wollte schnell wo anders etwas essen gehen."

"General All we wanted to do is cook ourselves on the festival days. So let's see what restaurants are opening on Christmas Day. They shouldn't be far away. A whole series does not make up at all and rather celebrated themselves (well so, I glow it from their hearts. Therefore, the locals that open up are already booked out early (so from Martin the “Festzeit” seems to begin and there are almost always goose with lumps and red cabbage on the map. But we still found a free table in Altenberg. For the Christmas mood we visited some cribs in churches around. Ambiente The restaurant has plenty of space in its two guest rooms. From the entrance, the left department looks a bit brighter and more modern. We were in the right wing. There is a lot of wood and this makes the room look a little darker. The distances to neighboring tables were still fine. We sat on a four table to third. If the outer shell had been more crisp, it would have been perfect. All three main courses were also beautifully decorated and dressed. So everything is tasty, but not a crowning conclusion after the strong main courses.
