"I had a late lunch at Riva Felice with a group of friends. The others had been before on another trip to Italy and told me it was great, so I was really looking forward to it. I wasn’t disappointed. We ate on a covered verandah with views through pots of flowers over the lake to the mountains. Although the restaurant was quite full, the atmosphere was lazy and peaceful and I felt in just the right relaxed mood when our food arrived, especially after a glass of wine. The food was delicious. Everyone was delighted with what they had. We shared various primi and secondi and contorni, all of which were excellent, but if you visit, and it’s available, I’d recommend the squid and prawns or the fish from the lake (I can’t remember the name! . The owner and the other staff were friendly and attentive, but quite laid back. The feeling was typically Italian and family oriented the other guests seemed to be a mixture of locals and tourists, but I didn’t notice any people who weren’t Italian that day apart from us. Lago di Vico and the area round is very popular with Italians, but slightly off the beaten track for foreign visitors. I appreciate that we may have been lucky, and I’m influenced by the fact that I’d been having a good time generally, but the food, the location, the atmosphere and the service all combined to make our visit an Italian experience and not just a meal."
