"My Wife and I ate here for a Saturday (Easter evening meal in addition to 2 breakfasts while we stayed for 2 nights. As with the rest of our stay, a real highlight is the friendly and attentive service we experienced. Despite being extremely busy,...all the staff could not do enough and tried to provide a personalised experience catering to different needs, asking how your course was but also sharing their opinions too. We had the bread and olives sharer to start. It was made clear to us that the advertised bread had sold out and what the alternative was, which was great. Our mains were the Scampi and Bacon Steaks. Both of us received good portions and were really impressed by the quality of the food overall. When it came to the deserts, I had the Lemon Mess which was absolutely incredible (a favourite of the waiters too he seemed genuinely keen and interested to see what I thought! and my wife had the Chocolate Brownie. She was hesitant to ask as it is quite a 'posh ' restaurant compared to what we would normally eat at, but when she asked if her desert could be taken back to the room, they seemed offended that she even hesitated to ask. As with the rest of our experience, it was not too much trouble and easily managed. This is clearly a restaurant that prioritises quality over quantity, so pragmatically speaking it might not suit fussy eaters as there isn 't a massive menu. With that said, it 's popular with families and children seem well catered for so I 'm confident that dietary needs and fussy eaters could be accommodated with a conversation with the waiting staff. We have said that should we be in the region again, we would make a point of stopping by for at least a drink as our whole stay was wonderful and we 'll hold very fond memories of a great Easter Weekend."

"We visited here as a family and were happy to find somewhere independent to eat with a tasty sounding menu. How wrong we were to make this choice! I ordered the Brie and salami ciabatta toasted sandwich, which sounds delicious! What I received was an extremely poor quality square ‘ciabatta’ (nothing of the sort) that strangely seemed as if it had been squashed and toasted to within an inch of its life, then had a few slabs of Brie shoved in with three tiny slices of cheap rubbish pepperoni type thing, clearly after the bread had been toasted. The cheese hadn’t melted at all and It was the worst, most dry and horrible sandwich I have ever eaten. And I am usually very forgiving! Was like eating two pieces of cardboard with a bit of brie shoved inside. The side of fries was £4.25 and there were about 25 of them, and they were really weird and dry. Absolute daylight robbery. My husband’s loaded fries with chicken and bacon was just as bad. Honestly feel like I’ve been robbed. Worst meal I think I’ve ever had, and we eat out a lot! And before the owner starts embarrassing himself by fighting back in the comments, no I didn’t say anything at the time because I had my two kids with me and I am ****** knackered as it is without kicking up a fuss in a tiny cafe. When I don’t complain I don’t usually write a review because it’s unfair, but the shear cheek and lack of any ounce of care and pride in what you are serving to customers made me override this. Truly terrible. The only reason I’m giving two stars is because you did accommodate my little boy and did him a smaller portion of the sausage and chips because you don’t have a kids menu."
