"The Sloop is pretty similar to all the restaurants by the habour; mostly outside seating and very similar menus. after visiting we now wished we had chosen a different one. It was midday on Sunday, the sun was shining and the restaurant was about...two-thirds full. We had been staying with friends in their villa just up the road and were due to meet them in an hour. So I thought it wouldn’t have been an issue to have a beer, a main course and then head back. After all, the menu wasn’t particularly complex and it certainly wasn’t fine dining. After being shown a table it took a while to get any menus or anyone to ask us what we wanted to drink. After we managed to flag down the waitress we ordered a beer. I explained (in French) that we didn’t have that much time and so could we order. She replied ‘no we couldn’t order as Madam was in charge of that’. So we watched as the lady in charge wafted from table to table in a leisurely fashion avoiding us entirely. After around mins we decided to finish our drinks and head back without eating, after all, we didn’t want to rush our lunch. I asked for the bill and and politely explained that we were sorry but we no longer had time to eat due to meeting some friends. And this is when we were subjected to a tirade of abuse by the waitress which was entirely disproportionate to the situation. She obviously isn’t someone who is easily embarrassed as she screamed in a voice audible to most of the tables around us ‘why we had blocked a table if we weren’t eating’ and ‘perhaps we should have gone to McDonalds’. She then kept shouting angry bizarre comments such as ‘with one life we should learn how to enjoy ourselves’ and ‘if you are on holiday why are you in a rush’ as though we deserved to be lectured by her. We were both stunned. No one has ever treated us like that in a restaurant or in any place anywhere in the world. We paid our and left. At no point did she attempt to apologise for her behaviour. Perhaps she should understand that she is providing a service and that we are customers. A service that simply took too long and we had to leave as we were expected somewhere else. We didn’t even complain about how slow it was but simply said that we were sorry but we didn’t have time anymore for lunch and asked for the bill. But it's certainly no reason to get abusive with your customers and shout at them in front of everyone else. We don’t know how the food is here but if this is the way she feels she could treat anyone then this is a reason enough to keep far away as possible from this restaurant."
