"We booked the suite for 2 nights to celebrate our anniversary. What a perfect choice it was too. Darwin 's Kitchen was easy to find, a short walk from Wyle Cop car park, it also looked just as beautiful on the outside as it did inside. The staff were friendly and welcoming and took us up to our suite. As my husband and I opened the door and walked into our suite room we both wow 'd! The room seemingly went on forever and the throws, cushions and artwork made the suite feel cosy and like home. The bed was massive and extremely comfortable. The bathroom was also huge. I highly recommend everyone to upgrade to a suite because for a very small price it is certainly worth it. On our first evening at Darwin 's we went downstairs to the restaurant for a meal at our prebooked table. I ordered The Paddington which was cocktail of the week and my husband had a pint of Becks. For starters we had whitebait with tartare sauce and the meatballs tagliatelle, both were stunning. For mains we had chicken Kiev with roasted potatoes; and lamb with Shropshire blue mash, the cheese complimented the dish perfectly and my husband said it was the best Kiev he had ever tasted. In the mornings we had a continental breakfast and also ordered a dish from the menu to have with it. The first morning my husband had a bacon brioche bap and I had the eggs Benedict on a toasted muffin. The second morning my husband had a sausage brioche bap and I had poached eggs with crushed avocado on toast. Both breakfasts were delicious and cooked to order. Throughout our whole stay, all the staff were friendly, attentive and welcoming. We cannot thank them enough for making our first anniversary perfect."

"For anyone who knows me I am really fussy about restaurants, including food and service. We stayed at The Old Rectory and they recommended the Tilly Raven. What a superb choice. Clean, light and airy with an open plan aspect. Starters I wanted mussels but they didn't have any so I had the mushrooms. Not your usual button mushrooms but shitake and oyster mushrooms, a well known starter elevated to the next level. My husband had the cauliflower, apple and cheese soup. Sounds gross, but trust me, it was sensational. Good amount of dipping bread with it too. Mains I had the pork belly on black pudding mash. The pork belly was perfect. Beautiful crackling top. The only thing was the black pudding mash was too stodgy for me, so I only managed half. My husband had the beef brisket on mustard mash. He ate it all and said it was lovely. Desserts I wanted the apple crumble but the were out of it. My husband had the sticky toffee pudding. Good size portion and probably the best I've ever tasted (yes, I did steal some from him) Service great. The only thing that let the atmosphere down a bit was the clairvoyant booked to perform there who set up right next to us, who sat with his arms folded but regularly looking at his watch. Made me feel uncomfortable especially with the cash tin open, like at a car boot. Other than that, Tilley Raven you were amazing. Thank you very much.
