"We came here on Friday with a voucher as due to the reviews from friends I would not have volunteered to eat here. However, you have to try these things. I just wish I hadn't. We booked a table, this was an automated impersonal process but it was efficient. We ended up sitting outside and the location is perfect, the setting is really beautiful. We ordered our food and the starters arrived promptly. However, shortly after the mains arrived as well which was then taken back agan. Service was average but friendly. The food was absolutely shocking. I had three starters, salad drowned in dressing, chips and seasonal vegetables. Presenation was distinctly average. The vegetables were clearly overcooked and microwaved. My boyfriend had the Korean Chicken which was actually cremated. It looked awful. As it was getting late and the taste was ok ish we didn't send it back. We really just wanted to use the voucher. So all in all a very below average experience but the worst part is that we have both not been feeling well. My boyfriend has been feeling quite ill all weekend which can only be due to the food. We have no proof so I will just say be careful as the food is definitely not freshly cooked. I will for sure not be back and I feel people need to be aware as the setting of the pub can be misleading. Plenty of other good pubs in the area (Horningsea) where food is of a different calibre. When we paid we used the voucher and got told that we had to forfeit the £2 left on the voucher. Again, not a massive deal, but not very professional either."

"Nice interior with regards to the restaurant, but the rest does let it down, stayed here for three nights with my wife, daughter, and her boyfriend as we were attending a wedding on the Friday, accommodation was extremely basic to say the least and hygiene was borderline, you could clearly see where dirt remained on doors where they’ve been pushed shut, which indicated they hadn’t been clean for sometime, regards to the breakfast as this was in with the accommodation was okay, but it would’ve been nice if it would’ve been hot and not borderline cold, we dined in the restaurant in the evenings twice, but again, unfortunately was let down by the food one of the dishes we had was a chicken kebab with a wrap and chips, which was a mistake, the chicken was dry and the bread that came with it was very hard, only thing that was reasonably decent was the chips, we wasn’t asked if we enjoyed meals, so I mentioned this upon paying and all I got was sorry about that so I just paid then left, I did notice someone else complained about their room upon departure and again was met with the same sorry about that, then they left to pack their car. I noticed that no feedback was given to the manager that was standing about 15 feet away, on our last night, we decided to give them another chance and we ate in the restaurant again, but unfortunately when I complained with regards to the home-made chicken and ham and mushroom pie was burnt and tasted burnt, again all I was met with was sorry about that, it dose seem that none of the feedback gets back to the kitchen or the manager, gives you the impression they don’t really care because they know that the pub is just a stopgap and the chances of you returning is somewhat rare, I can guarantee we won’t be staying there again if up that way. Rooms. To be honest, unless you’re happy to go cheap and cheerful, just to get your head down in this will be okay, absolutely nothing special. Food drinks. I will say is take your chances you may get lucky, but if you don’t and complain nothing is done or you’ll be met with is sorry about that, but personally I wouldn’t bother."
