"We visited for the first time on the 30th October 2021, despite having been on the list of places to visit for over a decade, we finally made it there as a family that weekend. After other family had beaten us to it and said it would be the type of place we like visiting and reading reviews online too, it did seem to be the type of place we would like and we were not disappointed. What a lovely surprise. It was fabulous. Such a delight. Besides the wonderful meals in the tearoom/restaurant, there were gifts and treats to enjoy in the shop. No, lets the start with the meals in the restaurant: I had the Gourmet Burger, which was a great meal, a great filling up meal, The burger in a bun was packed with cheese and a branston-type pickle, which had a nice kick to it. The meal also included fries and a salad. It was delicious. The cakes (of which I'm rather partial looked delicious, but I was full. It's a lovely restaurant. Can't wait to have the next meal there. We are definitely visiting again, we visited on the 31 October and my birthday is the 2nd November and we were deliberating whether to go back to Silverwood Tearoom on my birthday instead of the planned place. That's how good it was. The family enjoyed their meals too. Now, back on to the shop part of Silverwood. What a delight. From home-crafted products to ornaments and garden-ware such as a bird table , the home-crafted items were more to my taste so I'll talk about them first. The knitted toys, which facially reminded me of Fred (from the Homepride ads of yesteryear-Remember them? were so sweet and I would have bought the lot if I'd had the money with me, and some gorgeous crochet cushion covers in the next room along had my eye. Silverwood is amazing. It's an Aladdin's Cave (or a TARDIS , because it appears to be bigger inside than out. There are so many wonderful things here I cannot mention them all but I will say that there are so many delights that I managed to find an early Birthday present there too. Can't wait to get back."

"Five of us went for a birthday lunch which had been booked for three weeks. We had booked for 1pm and arrived at 12.30 for pre meal drinks. The pub wasn 't busy but the service was very slow. We sat down, looked at the menu and I went to order the meal at 12.50. I was told in an abrupt manner that I couldn 't order because it wasn 't 1pm !!! 1pm came and went so I went to see where the staff were. It appeared that there was only two staff on, 1 taking the orders and the cook. The waitress eventually appeared to take our order and explained she could not take our order before time in case it got lost and the cook was still preparing another tables meal. We ordered but was told we couldn 't have bread with our fish and chips because they don 't do that . We watched while two separate couples entered the pub asking if they served food only to be told that they would have to wait at least 40 minutes before they could place the order. Both couples walked out. Another couple that was already sat at a table when we arrived decided to order a meal. They were also told in a rude manner that they would have to wait until we had received our meal and the waitress couldn 't tell them how long that would be. After a few words the couple got up and left. The food arrived and was very sparse on the plates. Certainly not worth the price they were charging. All in all the service was terrible, the customer care was appalling and the attitude towards potential customers was unbelievable. We will certainly not be returning to this establishment or recommending them to family and friends."

"From my initial phone call to book a table for 5 people for lunch on a Wednesday, I was asked if there were any vegetarians among us, but I wasn't told that it was only a carvery on a Wednesday and that no other menu was running. When we arrived the bar service was slow, and there were limited number of large bottles of white wine available as per the wine list, so we just settled for anything that was available. (Although once in the dining room I did spot several on a rather large wine rack! My daughter asked for a Disaronno and coke, and just got a coke. The bar waitress did apologise and said that she usually worked in the restaurant. Finally when we got into the restaurant this is when we discovered that it was only a carvery. 2 members of the group had previously looked on the internet for a menu but couldn't find anything. The vegetarians were catered for with a creamy asparagus pie, but unfortunately my daughter is allergic to garlic and couldn't have hers, so maybe 2 items to chose from would be a better deal for us vegetarians, after all there were 3 of us. The selection of vegetables was great and we all loved the cauliflower cheese. The 2 meat eaters also loved their feast and said that the meat was cooked very well. On request we were provided with vegetarian gravy, but no one came and asked us if everything was alright, and the food wasn't that hot. We did all opt for a dessert, and the Rocky Road Cheesecake was delicious, however, the Tropical Fruit Sundae was a bit basic with the use of tinned fruit cocktail. We were asked if we required drink refills or coffees. As there were no menus/information about, it was hard to work out the prices and we were all pleasantly surprised that the desserts came in with the carvery price of £9 again, we couldn't see any information anywhere to tell us this, and if you hadn't had a dessert (or a coffee which is counted as a dessert you might feel a little hard done by. I think the key to our experience, and indeed this review, is the lack of information, but the carvery itself is good value for money and worth a try."
