"Shocking from start to finish. Fancied a Friday night take away, ordered our dishes at 18:15, quoted 50 minutes delivery time, brilliant, nice and early in time to relax for the rest of the night after a busy week at work. 50 minutes pass, still no sign, gave it till 19:25 before calling the restaurant, phone answered quickly by a blunt man, I simply explained we’d ordered at 18:15, that I’d had an email confirming it was out for delivery by 18:50 and I was merely checking if it was actually on its way… ‘your order is on its way, it’s being delivered with 7 other orders’ alarm bells ring for me immediately, I ask will it be hot? Yes, he then hung up. Which I thought was very rude. A further 20 minutes tick on by, by this point we’re absolutely starving and the hanger is kicking in but non the less I call the restaurant again and was extremely polite despite the way the staff member was biting my head off, I explained I didn’t want cold food and if I’d have known the wait time was this long I wouldn’t have ordered from there. “I’ll cook your food fresh now bring it myself” he said, thank you I really appreciate that. 45 more minutes tick on by, the doorbell goes off, I open the door get a bag shoved into me and off he stomps down my driveway, not even an apology or hello. I take the 20 steps it takes to walk from my hallway to my kitchen, open the bag and food containers to be greeted with stone cold food. Absolutely livid by this point, I call the restaurant again, the manger starts to argue with me instead of listening with me and understanding the situation, he calls me a liar, insists the foods fresh (it was Luke warm at best! and proceeds to shout down the phone, I tell him I would like a refund, explain why and he then tells me he’ll do it now and I’ll get an email, I ask when can I expect the email, he said I don’t know, soon if you’ve not got it you can come in tomorrow for it, then in the next breath he demands that I take the food back to the restaurant if I want a refund, I explained that I’m not prepared to go out of my way to get a refund for something that isn’t my fault. He kicks off again, so I took him up on this opportunity to go into the restaurant hand him the food back in front of his dining customers. Totally and utterly disgusting service, food quality was awful to boot. Sort yourselves out and learn how to speak to people, arguing with customers will get you nowhere in business."

"I used to visit this restaurant regularly when it was Sylhet but having retired from Police Headquarters (opposite the restaurant) in 2014, I hadn 't been aware of Sylhet closing its doors about one year ago and Cumin evolving in its place. Once I became aware of this I looked at the reviews for Cumin on Tripadvisor and they were very encouraging so I booked a table for two and hubby and I went last Friday15 November. We were well known by the staff at Sylhet and always received a really warm welcome and had a chat withe manager whenever time permitted. So, it felt strange walking in and receiving a rather luke warm welcome. We were shown straight to our table and given menus and we ordered a bottle of wine. The menu was extensive and we both studied it in detail as there were many dishes listed that were new to us. We are both medium fans and we did feel that the chef specials were swamping us by hot or mild ones! Eventually we went for papadum and chutney tray (me) and the fish pakora (hubby). I thought the chutney tray was a bit pricey at £4.50 and the inclusion of coleslaw was a little random. My partner 's fish pakora was lacking in spicy batter and was just like a plain fish goujon. For mains we ordered the Murgh Tanger but requested it was made medium and exotic (chicken) garlic massala which was categorised as medium. We had read so much about the gunpowder potatoes that we just had to try them and one portion of pilau rice. We were given plenty of time to eat our appetisers and then our mains arrived which we were sharing. My first taste was the Murgh Tanger immediately followed by a sharp intake of breath the flavour was really delicious but it was sooo hot! Next was a taste of the exotic garlic massala also a fab flavour but too mild!! I had a word with a waiter about the heat of the Murgh Tanger as I had specifically asked for it to be medium and he immediately went to take the dish back to the kitchen. However, I said: No, I love the flavour; if I could have some tandoori mint sauce that will cool it down and it did. In fact it was delicious an interesting experiment!! We both really enjoyed our meal but agreed one main was too hot and the other too mild which we would remember next time. Yes, there will be a next time in fact we have booked for Christmas Day! We always prefer a good Indian meal to a Roast Turkey dinner and Cumin have got the job! We hope that we can give them a 5!!"
