"Waiter (W): Are you ready to order? Me (M): Please give me 2 minutes. The waiter arrived after a minute. I ordered a Kingfisher draught beer for myself, which was flat. My grandson wanted a soft drink, but the waiter insisted on apple juice (which was more expensive). We also ordered three Naans - one vegetarian and one butter chicken. When asked if we wanted rice, I declined and said we would order later if needed. The waiter insisted we order now, but I declined once again. Twenty minutes later, our food arrived. All three Naans were burnt. I informed the waiter, who claimed they were only slightly burnt and questioned why it was an issue. I explained that I was paying for it and he reluctantly took two Naans back while providing a small bowl of rice to fill the time gap. The Naans returned after 10 minutes, still burnt. It seemed like he hadn't replaced them at all. Despite asking for butter Naan, they were not buttered. The waiter said he had to take them back to apply butter and implied that I should have requested it earlier. I insisted that I had asked for butter when ordering. When I asked for butter to be brought to the table, the waiter refused. We decided to give up and finished our dinner, leaving most of the food uneaten on the table except for the beer and juice. The waiter was rude throughout the entire experience. My 10-year-old grandson noticed that the people at the next table received perfectly cooked Naans and wondered why they were so lucky. He then jokingly suggested it was because we were Indian."

"As a group of 4, we left TGI Friday in Staines feeling very disappointed. We had a £180 bill for food, 1 refillable diet coke, 1 coke, and 4 x 2 cocktails for £16. There was absolutely no atmosphere in the restaurant. We ordered 4 meals, and one of our group had opted for a sharing starter as her main. This arrived first, and we had to find a waitress to remind that we had only ordered 4 food items that should all come together, also to remind of the cola that had not arrived. So one of our Group ate alone and had no food while we all ate. When the mains arrived, 2 of the group had a half rack of ribs, which tasted really good but was honestly very poorly sized for £20. The upgraded loaded fries, which added an additional charge, were less than half the size of normal fries. The refillable diet cola was taken away to be refilled and never brought back until requested. Desserts were luscious and totally worth their cost. We went to order a final round of drinks only to be told the bar was closed, with no notification when this was happening. Granted time had passed quicker than we had noticed, but most places will give you some notification. The restaurant was really not busy. There was an issue with each of the toilets in the ladies, from missing locks to no toilet paper to not flushing. I know some of these are not major complaints, but altogether, I left the restaurant feeling hard done by for what we paid, in terms of value for money , from a food and service perspective."

"Having been to the flower pot previously I went with hight expectations. A friend was visiting so I told her about the bottomless brunch and booked a table online at no point was I able to specify the bottomless brunch option when booking. When I arrived the waitress showed us to our table where menus were waiting for us. When I said we would like to do the bottomless brunch but that I had not been able to specify that on the booking the waitress said she would have to ringing and check with her manager who was not on the premises. She came back and informed us that we weren't able to have the bottomless brunch option as we had not prebooked it and there was not enough staff to cater this request. At this point we were the only people seated in the pub and there were perhaps 10 people seated outside. We ordered from the lunch 9Which included half of the food options available on the brunch menu)menu and had an enjoyable meal. The food was lovely, when ordering drinks towards the end of our food the waitress offered the cocktail menu. She proceeded to make us cocktails from the brunch menu. The food was lovely, the wait staff were attentive and the atmosphere was good. I am however extremely disappointed that having taken the time to go on line and book a table during which at no point was I given the option to select bottomless brunch as a choice, I arrived only to be told I could not have bottomless brunch and was then given both food and drink that was on the bottomless brunch menu while being told they were unable to cater for bottomless brunch. I will be leaving it a while before I return."

"We waited quite some time for our drinks. My pizza was given to another customer taken back to the pass then brought out to me when my husbands meal was ready. My pizza was lukewarm. I asked a gentleman who I later found out was the manager Gabriel if this pizza was the same one that had been served to another customer. He said he would find out. He didn’t come back, instead he sent the young waitress to tell me yes it was. Was that a problem, did I want her to take it back! I said no. The young lady came back shortly asked if everything was ok, I said not really, she didn’t really know how to deal with the situation, not her fault, bad training I would suggest. At the end of the meal she asked if we would like anything else or a dessert we declined asked for the bill. The young lady said she would ask her manager Gabriel to take the pizza off the bill. I let her know I had a blue light NHS discount card. She went away to sort the bill. She came back with the bill said her manager would only take 25% off the pizza. I then showed her my blue light card again she went away to take that 20% off. What happened next was unbelievable. The manager Gabriel came over said he wouldn’t take the blue light discount off as he had taken 25% off the pizza. I said you did that due to a complaint, not my issue. He then went on to argue with me at the table that the company are no longer doing 20% discount for NHS blue light card holders but they hadn’t written to all companies it was only 15% but I argued back offered to show him my NHS blue light app which still showed 20% discount to NHS staff with blue light cards. He told me I could write to head office to complain but because I would not back down he eventually honoured my 20% discount. He did not come back to the table with the amended bill, he again sent the young girl over but he had taken the pizza off the bill the blue light 20% discount. I have never been treated so appallingly by a manager in a restaurant as I have tonight. We still gave the girl £5 tip as it was but her fault. I have worked in customer service for 30 years would never treat or allow a member of my staff to treat a customer in such a way. Appalling service"

"Been here numerous times over the last 15 years. It’s set in beautiful walled gardens with outside and inside seating. Firstly this place is run by volunteers and is attached to a gallery. They served hot food, cakes and hot and cold drinks. Overall cakes are 5/5 most are homemade but their tea cakes come from the Cavan Bakery which has a few local branches so all cakes are locally produced which is a plus. We have only tried some of the food but the soup is always great and comes with a whopping slice of bread. Really tasty. I have also tried the cheese ploughman’s which again was pretty big. I always find with a ploughman’s that there is more cheese than bread/biscuits and this is no different. But again tasty. The service is always friendly and welcoming. The only thing that is not great is the quality of the coffee. It’s quite weak and so a cappuccino tastes like frothy milk only. It may be that the clientele prefer weaker coffee but would really love a stronger cup. We have found a way around this with black americano and a jug of milk. Overall this is a volunteer run place that is really welcoming and friendly. Cakes are great and the view is lovely and atmosphere peaceful. I would love the coffee to be better especially as we usually go for breakfast but it hasn’t stopped us visiting twice a month for the last 10 years and recommending this place to friends and family."
