"It really pains me to write this review as the white horse has been our go to for the past 10+ years. Today’s the second time in two weeks we have eaten here. The last time in December, I emailed privately with my concerns. I received no reply or acknowledgement to my worries. This time I was hoping for better but sadly it wasn’t better. The restaurant was very busy with 3/4 of the small room big tables, but this shouldn’t change the quality of service. It was very noisy, had to speak very loudly at our table to hear each other, but my main concern was my meal. I explained when I ordered I was gluten free, the waitress recapped this in the order, my roast dinner came with a Yorkshire pudding attached. Had I not eaten here before, I would probably have assumed it was gluten free. I asked her to check, she took the meal back to the kitchen, the Yorkshire removed and the same plate brought back. I was given assurance that everything else was gluten free, but as this was the second time in a two weeks, sadly I couldn’t enjoy the meal, as I was worried if I could trust what I was being told. Had I eaten the meal that was served , I would have been very unwell. Without meaning to sound like a lecture, eating out with an allergy is hard, I built up trust at the white horse as I’ve always felt assured it was taken seriously, but these past two times, in such proximity to each other, my trust has disappeared and sadly I would have worries eating here again. I certainly couldn’t recommend anymore for somebody with an allergy. Dietary restrictions: Couldn’t recommend for people with a gluten allergy as staff not really aware of the side effects of serving gluten and despite being told previously, that the kitchen can adapt most things this is very obviously not the case anymore , as per my experience today and on the 28th December Price per person: £20–30 Food: 3 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 3 Reservation: Reservation required Group size: 3-4 people"
