"We stopped off here for a night after attending Plumpton Racecourse, it's a short drive from the course itself and turned out to be an ideal choice. The welcome was great, a smiling face to greet you makes all the difference and sets the tone for the stay. Our cosy room was clean, fresh and very comfortable, bottled water/tea/coffee/biscuits were provided in the room, the bed was comfortable and the bathroom had everything we needed. We had a superb Breakfast before we left in the morning, Tea/Coffee/Orange Juice/ Cereal etc were all laid out for us but we opted to go straight into The English Breakfast which was delicious ! We really liked this place and the people running it, if you're looking for somewhere near Plumpton Racecourse, or somewhere convenient to Lewes stop searching and just book this place, you wont be disappointed ! "Were looking for a light, late lunch after walking along Beachy Head and Birling Gap, and had seen the Beehive on Google Maps, so we decided to give it a try. Not disappointed. We both ordered our favorite English toasted sandwich, cheese and chutney. My wife's was served on regular white bread while I opted for the sesame and poppyseed roll. We sat outside, in the shade, and in just a few minutes, we were served by the very friendly staff. We enjoyed lunch and our sandwiches so much we purchased a jar of the chutney to bring home. Serves as a reminder of a wonderful, warm, sunny lunchtime in May in southern England."

"Well I had organised afternoon tea for a friend’s birthday, I rang the hotel to arrange a few things which never happened) . The first being we wanted a table not a sofa and coffee table, so they found us a table even though I had previously asked for this. We then had to change as it was so old and wobbly we couldn’t of sat there eating. I had ordered a bottle of fizz, no note of this. The untrained creepy young waiter eventually got it and plonked it down without even opening it. Then the cake I had ordered came out before our afternoon tea. Then they came out with vegetarian sandwich options- we didn’t order this. No semi or skimmed milk, only full fat as someone forget to order it!! I ordered a mixture of scones- only plain arrived. When we had our tea we were then totally forgotten about and we had to find staff to top up the tea pot etc. All in all awful service and awful afternoon tea, don’t waste your time or money going there- such a shame as could be a fantastic venue. We enjoyed our afternoon as we were together but extremely disappointed with the rest."

"Came here for the first time today with a friend for lunch. Wasn't sure what to expect but wasn't disappointed. Had a lovely lunch at £12 for 2 courses. Choices for starters included baked camembert, smoked salmon and scallops. Mains included sirloin steak, pork, lamb chops with choice of potatoes. We both had the camembert and the steak. Both cooked to perfection. Lovely decor throughout (loved the Giles cartoons papering the toilet) and the lad behind the bar and serving us was very friendly and welcoming. Unfortunately I don't live locally but will be back when I'm this way again."

"I 've had some bad Chineses in the past and frankly the three in eg are hit and miss TBH, OK but not great, so we thought we would look a little further a field.Normally going to golden city in Crawley as always top notch but couldn 't be bothered to go so far big mistake Forest Row we thought close enough, Goog reviews looked not too bad, 'but are not to be trusted ',one read consistently good so we thought we would give it a go. Wow, I can 't explain how bad it was.. I will try and attach a picture but the smell can 't be attached. rancid.. The food looked awful noodles black where the oil had clearly been burnt or maybe there pans are just filthy. The crispy shredded beef was burnt had spring onions and carrots that looked like they were prepared 3 days ago mank and discoloured.. Sweet and sour chicken looked darker then normal! Again can only assume the battered chicken were cooked/fried in filthy old oil. I always give food a go and dont dismiss it without trying it we all know looks can be deceiving but boy I wish I didn 't, I tried a bit of everything before I realised the smell wasn 't some new kinds of spices and was just plain rank, I had to be sick virtually straight after, I have the worst taste in my mouth that won 't go and I 've spent £30 for the pleasure.. NEVER AGAIN.. IGNORE THIS AT YOUR PERIL. The pictures probably won 't do it justice but trust me just awful! Anyone who likes this place doesn 't know what a good Chinese should be like."

"We haven't had a takeaway from Superstar for many years but decided to give it a go. We usually go to a rival Chinese. Very disappointed in what we had. We tried the appetizers which were just okay. The mains were so bland and lacking in flavour. Chow Mein normally has a smoky taste which wasn't there. The special fried rice was rice with flavourless veg and prawns plonked on top rather than mixed in with some spice. The other mains didn't have a strong flavour making it indistinguishable from each other. There was also a delivery charge added with no choice of collection and as we live only 2 minutes away a bit annoying. I don't like to give negative reviews and rarely have to but if this is the usual offering of Chinese food then best avoided. We won't be returning I'm afraid."

"Went to the Wyevale Garden Centre and found this lovely independent cafe which is found when you go the outside area for plants. We decided to have lunch here and there was a good selection of meals to choose from on the little blackboard at the till area. You have to go inside and queue up to be served and then your meal is brought to your table. We both went for the lamb crumble today but they only had one left, so I went for the pasta bake which had bacon and cheese in it. They were £7.50 each and we had a bottle of fizzy water to share, which we chose from the fridge. It all came to £16.80. We sat outside as it was a lovely warm day. We didn't have too long to wait for our meals to be brought to us. My pasta bake came with a side salad which consisted of a portion of coleslaw and some nice raw red cabbage salad, lettuce, cucumber, tomato, and mustard and cress. It was all really flavoursome and delicious. Hubby's lamb crumble was made from breadcrumbs and had minced lamb underneath and was also really lovely. It came with little new potatoes and perfectly cooked side veg of cabbage and carrots. Our water was lovely and cold and we were given two glasses to drink it. We noticed others getting toasted tea cakes, they looked and smelt lovely and there were lots of cakes to eat as well, they looked home made. This is a lovely place and I would highly recommend it."

"We went for the all inclusive golf and dinner option. Dinner was the worst resort dinner i have ever experienced. Three mains to choose from braised beef and mash, pasta and a mushroom sauce and the smallest piece of fish with over cooked vegetables ..we gave it back. Dessert had ice cream which was made from powder we gave it back. The contents of the meals could not have cost more than £2.5 We asked to se the restaurant manager who was apparently busy but would come soon to see us , we finally left when he did not show up and though we left our room number for him to contact us we were never contacted. We managed to negotiate to skip dinner the second day in exchange for a burger and a sandwich. Hardly a great deal for us , but i would never try dinner there again. Overall a really poor place to go......"

"A great looking cafe from the outside that failed to impress once inside.Kitchen ran out of chicken at 13:30hrs with one of our orders (Chicken sandwich) so our second order had to be changed to Pulled Pork.The Pulled Pork cheese melt baguette looked great but was bland and without the BBQ sauce drizzled on top, would have offered little taste.The chicken sandwich; bread deeply smothered in butter, was dry and tasteless. By this point we had already returned a cappuccino that looked brilliant with a lovely frothy top but tasted dreadful (burnt). Overall a very disappointing experience.Such a shame."

"This cafe looks quite appealing, but unfortunately the food options are extremely limited and uninspiring. I visited with a friend and we shared two sandwiches, which were just ok, although the “cheddar and red onion marmalade “ one seemed to be cheddar and cranberry sauce! The mistake we made was also ordering the flatbread with sun dried tomato houmous, which took an age to arrive, so long that we actually went and asked where it was after such a long time. When it arrived it was half a plate of what looked like pinkish baby sick and a cold, anaemic looking flatbread on the other side, no salad garnish, no appearance of a sun dried tomato. It tasted revolting as well, and the texture was of slop. The staff act like they couldn’t care less about anything. We won’t be revisiting this cafe again, we will go elsewhere."
