"We travelled out to Light Ash Farm after a few recommendations from friends. The cafe is located in the countryside on a working farm, so is very picturesque. The inside is also nicely done and feels very cosy. We were seated quickly on arrival, but it was about ten minutes before our order was taken. We were warned there was a wait on food, which was fine as the staff were dealing with a very large table, but I assumed our drinks would be brought while we waited (especially as they were just two soft drinks). However, we waited another 20 minutes for these. They were presented to the table with the drinks still their original bottle and can, stood inside a drinking glass it was a two second job to prepare them, so I do feel these should have been brought more quickly for a better customer experience. Food then took another ten minutes, but was tasty and made with good quality produce, well cooked and presented. We then decided we would have cake, but again had to wait for service we had to attract the attention of the staff to take our order, as they were having a chat and didn’t seem to notice we had finished. Cakes were brought promptly after ordering, and again were tasty (there was a great selection to choose from). During our wait for food, the kitchen prepared a large bowl of chips to be used for the afternoon teas. At least two staff dipped their hand into the bowl and took a chip on their way past. Harmless enough, but not particularly hygienic. I would return for the nice food but I do think the service leaves a lot to be desired. Granted, it was weekend and a very warm day, and there was a large party in so staff were busy. Maybe they needed more of them if the large parties take so much attention?"
