"We arrived late in Venice, hungry, and were staying at the Hotel Fontana on Campo San Provolo. We were too tired to hunt for the perfect restaurant and settled on this instead, although we worried that it might be touristy and overpriced. Wow, were we wrong. A week later, having traveled across Italy, we 're still comparing other meals to what we ate at Ristorante San Provolo. My husband 's spaghetti with clams had some kind of mild pepper kick to it that we just couldn 't get enough of. My daughter in law ordered gnocchi with gorgonzola that was pillowy-light and yet rich and flavorful. My spinach and ricotta cannoli was the weakest item we 'd ordered, yet it was still delicious. We shared an order of steamed artichokes that left us swooning, they were so delicious. When we finished we got a pizza Margherita to take back to our son, who 'd crashed out in the hotel, and he says that was one of the best pizzas he 'd had on the whole trip. Service was polite and friendly, and prices were about average. Later in our Venice stay, we dined at critically-acclaimed Osteria da Carla and Trattoria La Rivetta, and I honestly don 't think the food at either of those places was better than this."
